One thing I really appreciate about Inhumanoids, having only gotten to see the whole series recently as an adult, is the way the season was structured. Even when they knew the toy sales weren't going to support it, so they just did whatever wacky thing sprang to mind (looking at you, Inhumanoid love potion sub-plot) you can see a clear thoughline of an episode's plot having been set up in the previous ep. Not something I ever saw much as a kid, outside of clearly defined multi-episode arcs.

Well done, brother! These are all gems! Galaxy Rangers was such a cut above the rest. Hasbro or Super7 needs to start making these collectible figures STAT!
It was toys that helped kill the Galaxy Rangers. The company that marketed the toys felt that the mostly-male target audience would think they'd catch cooties from a Niko figure so they only marketed Zak, Doc, and Goose. The "bad-guy" lineup was more extensive and they did keep The Queen of the Crown, despite her cootie potential. They did have nice "laser tag" style guns. For some reason the toy marketing deals fell apart and the toys were only sold in the UK, where the Galaxy Rangers cartoon never aired.

I was about 11 years old when Galaxy Rangers debuted and I thought that show kicked so much ass. What made it also special besides its ahead of its time CGI and strong plot, was their rocking theme song. I sometimes play it out of nostalgia from time to time, since you can find it here on UA-cam, along with a few of their episodes. It's a shame the show didn't last long.
The Herculoids are Igoo, Zock, Tantor, Gloop and Gleep. Zandor was The guy swinging through the vines with his wife Tarra and their son Dorno. What happens when you give a lightsaber to a Barbarian? you get Thundarr The Barbarian.
These were all great especially Thundarr, Spaceghost and Herculoids. These would all make amazing live action films. Especially if they crossed over. Great video!
I've watched all these shows. I also had a BlackStar action figure growing up. I wanted his steed. I shoulda bought a Zak (the dragon on The Herculiods) when the toy was released. BRING BACK GALAXY RANGERS!!!! And, we need new Mighty Orbots.
Thank you for showing all the classics I was very excited seeing Galaxy Rangers and Thundarr The Barbarian I hope that one day reboot Galaxy Rangers Thunder the Barbarian🎉
Thundarr was the best. Hands down. There weren’t many apocalyptic cartoons out there and the fact that the world would be destroyed and we would be barbarians is awesome!
Nice list! There's also several other 80s IPs, and some from different times, that have been acquired into what is the NacelleVerse - comic books but some could lead back to cartoons. Example, they just released a 3-issue mini-series of Sectaurs, which had 5 episodes in 1985.
I hadn't heard of most of these, though I was too young to watch '80s cartoons that didn't make it into reruns in the '90s. Some of them seem interesting.
I only ever saw the end credits to Blackstar as it was on at 6:30am in the Portland market when I was a kid. Maybe it was on too early everywhere? I loved Galaxy Rangers, Thundarr, and Mighty Orbots. Cheers!
The sad thing about GR is, I always had the feeling the big armada battle episode was actually meant as a season finaly cliffhanger and got shuffled between earlier episodes, so the show will have a non ending ending.
Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers will always have a place in my heart and I was 16 when it debuted. I loved Thundarr and also Herculoids too, which I knew from reruns
Mr. T was ahead of it s time in terms of PSA's and life hacks and proved to be both a successful one and a gem at that. It even had a crossover with "Alvin and the Chipmunks" (only Mr. T made his appearance) since both were produced by Ruby-Spears at the time.
Galaxy Rangers and Thundarr the Barbarian both deserve solid reboots. They were well done now, and a version for adults, I'm sure, would do well. Blackstar had a lot of potential.
My ex-wife and I would watch Galaxy Rangers right before we left out for work, I was in my early 20's at the time. That cartoon appealed to those in their 20's as well.
I wanted to watch Thundarr for ages and finally caught it last year, it's such fun.A movie reboot should be pretty much like the show to give it this light hearted 80s fun action rump feel. The Herculoids I was aware of this show but after a few episodes I'm hooked to this crazy fever dream cartoon! 🤣

Never saw Blackstar or Galtar. Loved Thundarr, The Herculoids, and Galaxy Rangers. Centurions were cool, great toy line. Visionaries was another really cool show with neat action figures.
I wish The Herculoids got more love. The creature designs were just so incredibly unique. Yeah, the stories weren't especially deep, but I always had fun watching.
Hasbro and IDW comics tried to bring Inhumanoids back a few years ago, but they discovered that they had lost the trademarks to not just the title, but the characters themselves. They're now kept in development limbo by the current holder.
This is the first and only video from this creator that I've watched and so it might've been mentioned in a previous video, but I was waiting for Marshall Bravestar to show up on screen. Nobody I talk to even remembers it, but my brother and I watched it religiously during the late 80's.
I got to meet Thundaar and Blackstar animator Tom Cook at a couple big conventions in Salt Lake several years ago. He was a very cool guy in person. You could talk his ear off and he loved sharing his memories of working on the two cartoons I mentioned and He Man & The Masters of The Universe too.
Shane Gooseman was one of my favorite characters from that era. He was the precursor to Wolverine in my fandom as a kid. A few years later I would discover The X-Men comics and Goose paved the way for gritty characters like Logan to be my favorite back in the day.

Damn if it wasn’t preempted by Reagan getting his car ride home from the hospital after getting shot. I remember being SSSOOOO pissed off. I was already cranky being constipated from the dilauded. Great pain med but that 1 side effect was brutal.
My two little brothers and I would help process scrapmetal that our dad brought home, because we could get part of the profits. Don't forget that Zachary Foxx was voiced by the late actor Jerry Orbach- who was best known for playing Det. Lennie Briscoe on _Law And Order_
@@brianknapp6215 yes, that was probably his most well-known role, but did you know he also played the lampstand character, Lumiere of the beauty and the beast. It was his voice singing along side Angela Lansbury For tale as old as time. Arguably an even more impactful role.
@stevescott3089 I remember. "Be Our Guest" is one of my favorite songs from that film. (Plus- his French accent was way better than Hugh Jackman's in the live-action version!) Jerry got his start in musical theater back in the 1960s and he won a Tony Award for his role in the 1966 production of _Promises, Promises._
3:30 HELL YEAH!!!✊😄
I heard somewhere that Blackstar got cancelled because Filmation got the He-Man contract and did not have the resources to do both.
Love the Go Bots 😊
GoBots were great to buy because their action figures were cheaper in the stores than the Transformers. We bought ours at Shopko.
@@jacobshort6528 Wow! Both GoBots fans together in one place. This hasn't happened since GoCon 1.
Thank you for showing all the classics I was very excited seeing Galaxy Rangers and Thundarr The Barbarian I hope that one day reboot Galaxy Rangers Thunder the Barbarian🎉
I loved the Inhumanoids! I had the Tendril toy, stood taller than the Rancor creature. Great stuff!
Omg that had to be heaven!
Thank you. "Thundar the Barbarian" Like Silver Hawks this has been gnawing at me, lol
Same Kimberly! Like a brain itch of a theme song or a scene that I can’t place. I love digging these up!
Galaxy rangers was amazing
Wow I think I've seen all of those, and yes I had forgotten a couple of them. Thundarr was my favourite, blending sci-fi and fantasy.
That name sounds super familiar!
I watched most of these back in the day. and none of them have faded away in my mind.
I hadn't heard of most of these, though I was too young to watch '80s cartoons that didn't make it into reruns in the '90s. Some of them seem interesting.
So cool, just subscribed... Keep this nostalgia train going!
Thanks so much man! Like I’m on a mission!!
Great list, 👍🏾 watched all of these when toons were actually good. I can still hear Thundarr's war cry, and the sunsword activation.
Herculoids? How could I forget them? They were one of my favorites.
Daaaaaaarn... I forgot about "Galaxy Rangers", now that was good television, hope someone is streaming it around today.
Mr. T was ahead of it s time in terms of PSA's and life hacks and proved to be both a successful one and a gem at that. It even had a crossover with "Alvin and the Chipmunks" (only Mr. T made his appearance) since both were produced by Ruby-Spears at the time.
I grew up watching these cartoons on Saturday morning and thanks for a walk down memory lane
Blackstar was amazing. Thundarr! Yes! Galaxy Rangers is still the best show I remember.
Growing up in Australia in the 80's, the only cartoon I watched from this list was the Herculoids.
In my 20s, I wrote a campaign for D&D within the Thundar Universe. Wish I still had my notes.
I’ll bet we all wish you still had your notes.. 😢
Gen X Countdown, Great Video but again you forgot to mention Ulysses 31, did you not like or see Ulysses? Could you do a video about Ulysses if you can. Keep Up The Good Work! 👍🏾
I remember most of these cartoons!
You had a beautiful childhood! Maybe, I mean, it could have been horrible but at least you had these!!
I remember Thundar the Barbarian and Herculoids and managed to find DVDs. I had forgotten the Inhumanoids.
Oncould only get Galaxy Rangers on an obscure TV station out of Wisconsin (maybe even have been UHF) when i could watch it, i loved it
Galaxy Rangers was definitely next level.
Centurions was my favourite as a kid. Me and my mates used to run around the school playground pretending to be them!!!😂
Yeah, Galaxy Rangers!! I still sing the theme song every now and then
I got to meet Thundaar and Blackstar animator Tom Cook at a couple big conventions in Salt Lake several years ago. He was a very cool guy in person. You could talk his ear off and he loved sharing his memories of working on the two cartoons I mentioned and He Man & The Masters of The Universe too.
Loved me some Galaxy Rangers! Thundarr and Herculoids were top notch HB
Shane Gooseman was one of my favorite characters from that era. He was the precursor to Wolverine in my fandom as a kid. A few years later I would discover The X-Men comics and Goose paved the way for gritty characters like Logan to be my favorite back in the day.
The coolest part about Inhumanoids is the bad guy "action figures" were to scale. I had Matlar as a kid, and that thing was HUGE, had to be like 18".
The villains were great but the heroes were bland. On the other hand, Centurions were great heroes but bland villains
Great video. I need you to add for your next video Jayce and the wheeled warriors, Dungeons and Dragons, and pole position.
Thanks so much!! I have a prior video tagged in this one “20 Forgotten Cartoons..” that has Jayce and Pole Position! But I’ll add in D&D to my next one because man it was a banger! I loved that one as well!!
Nice list!
I’d appreciate seeing a recap for Gargoyles, Spiral Zone and Bionic Six.
The challenge for the Saturday cartoons was the protest against violence in cartoons.
Gargoyles is awesome
In 1981, I had gotten t-boned in my car by a cement truck. After I came home to heal, I was stoked to watch Thundar. Damn if it wasn’t preempted by Reagan getting his car ride home from the hospital after getting shot. I remember being SSSOOOO pissed off. I was already cranky being constipated from the dilauded. Great pain med but that 1 side effect was brutal.
Man did you just take me on a wild ride! 😅 I was 8 in ‘81. Was totally t-boned at 16 though. Knees wrecked! 😬 the worst.
The Centurions have the potential for an awesome reboot.
This was my whole childhood!!!
You and me both my man!!! POP A WHEELIE BROTHER!!
A smorgasbord of nostalgia. Thank you for this.
Love it. Instant sub.
Go Bots ruled ! I still have some of my Go Bots toys !
still have the toy "Decompose" floating around. I found it cleaning the basement last year.
HOLY COW MAN!! That’s awesome! He was my fav. 👀
My two little brothers and I would help process scrapmetal that our dad brought home, because we could get part of the profits. We'd take those profits to Toys 'R' Us and buy action figures and robots 🤖, from cartoons we'd never seen before, because we didn't have cable growing up. Not until I was in my early 30s did we get cable in our neck of the woods.
You found "decompose" while cleaning your basement? There are so many obvious jokes that I am proud of myself for resisting.
Great list! I hadn’t actually heard of Galtar before now, but the others all graced my tv.
I continually wish for a reboot of Galaxy Rangers.
The Globetrotters cartoon came out +10 years in 1970 before He-Man (1983) and Transformers (1984). And it definitely was just as popular as those two.
As a senior in high school we used to rush after school to the nearest tv to get baked and watch galaxy rangers. It was great bong session television. Ahhhh to be young again. But yeah it was a way before its time as far as tv animation.
I remember running home from elementary school to watch Silver Hawks.
