I got my hands on a Shattered Glass Grimlock and today when I opened him, I discovered that his robot hand got SUPER stuck inside the leg of the Dino mode when it curls up for transformation. Without this vid definitely wouldn’t have been able to confidently take apart his arm without worrying if I’d be able to reassemble it so I’m super appreciate that this vid exists!
your problem solving skills are so commendable. I wouldn't have been able to think of a way to remove that pin on the foot without somehow creating serious damage
I'm new to the more in depth customizing. i really enjoy the explanations that you give while troubleshooting. I've run into similar issues like you ran into with grimlock's leg/foot disassembly. thank you for not only inspiring me, but helping me grow along the way. your knowledge and delivery are appreciated. keep doing your thing
Klint, I’m so glad I could be of help. Your kind words are always appreciated. Part of the fun of these projects is overcoming these obstacles too. Hope you’ll join me for the rest cause this is gonna be a doozy. 😁👍🏼
Just as a heads up for the clear neck piece. I ended up stripping mine by leaving it in 71% isopropyl alcohol for about an hour, at which point the paint just comes off by hand. It's a slightly lengthier process but it'll save you the risk of your clear pieces disintegrating.
Thanks Zag, I ended up not even stripping the paint off this piece to not risk breaking it. You’ll see in the next vid I just painted over it which still turned out great. 😁👍🏼
Nice start. Makes me really wish I could find another ss86 grimlock and slag (yes I know hasbro changed his name but I'm never calling him by that other name, the 86 movie calls him slag imma call him slag). I wouldn't mind doing Shattered Glass versions or maybe more chrome metallic looking decos. Would definitely swap grimlocks smokey chest piece for a clear one to see the raised emblem. And he needs his front teeth.
I actually just realized that the DNA kit doesn’t have a new chest piece with is a bummer. Had to order a different one too, so hopefully it’ll arrive on time. 👍🏼

Thank YOU for watching. 👍🏼

I won’t lie, I was a bit nervous, lol. Having some experience disassembling these figures you start to know what’s possible. 👍🏼
Thanks so much for the disassembling tutorial, definitely gonna paint his arms and tail chrome.
Nice! Glad I could help! I’m sure yours will come out just as awesome! 😁👍🏼
