Thanks to JP for mentioning me and parties. Yeah there are lot of stuff to take into account when it comes to local multiplayer and people not familiar with the game. I would love to come talk about social aspects of GH/RB: what is needed for hosting IRL events and running them, what game to choose (party features), organizing venue, casual player mindset, what people like to play, audio setup, instruments, my self made mic adapter and so on.
Joel Zumaya has since said (about 4 years ago) that Guitar Hero was used as a scapegoat to explain his freak injury in 2006. According to him, they never found out for sure what the problem actually was.
I think the section talking about how having an infinite selection in CH is boring is a feeling I've had for awhile but just never thought about what it actually was. It genuinely is nice to just have festival introduce new tracks, things I might have never thought of playing or listening to, and finding new things I enjoy. Especially since at my skill level, even if I do think of something I'd want to play in CH/YARG, I still have to hope that it has both been charted, and charted at a skill level I can play comfortably. I also find the same issue happens for me with modded consoles, the second I can just download any game on the console, I don't know what to play or just don't want to play anything, and do nothing with it until it goes into storage.
A fun anecdote I have regarding Chris Kluwe is that he actually played on my WoW server back in Burning Crusade. I wish I could remember his name, but he played a Troll Rogue and raided in one of the top Horde guilds on the server (and one of the top guilds in the world at the time, I believe) The Flying Hellfish. He also shitposted on the realm forum all the time, lol.
Around the 16 min mark when yall start talking about full band play, Id love to see that more. I have all the WT stuff and Ive made so many good memories with friends playing full band. I just bought it all recently, so it was about $250 in total for the drums, mic, and guitars. Best purchase I ever made.
I saw Strawberry Girls open for Emery last year, and when I mentioned that people have charted their songs for CH, they were pretty psyched, so I'd definitely say attitudes towards that sort of thing have gotten a lot softer over the years
Speaking of calibration. Have you guys ever calibrated Green Day Rock Band? That game is also crazy with calibration. On Rock Band 3 and all GH games, I play on 0/0 and FC just fine. Meanwhile on Green Day, I have to play on -55/-55 to FC songs on Guitar/Bass. It's wild.
a new GH means it releases on Game Pass, Bringing consumers a price advantage for just getting a riffmaster or a new guitar , Making it competitve from the start
I honestly cannot see MS putting Activision to work on a new guitar hero in any future, like it or not we are stuck with what we have, that's why supporting festival it's crucial or it's officially over
I'm so sad. I had the LEGO Rock Band export on my PS3 with RB3, but I redeemed it to a different account so I could library share it with an online friend. Both myself and my friend don't remember the password and it's very sad.
Theory: Battle Stage is unranked for now because they're collecting data. When they *do* make it ranked, they'll have refined the weighting to make no instruments have an advantage on any songs
I really hope this is the case. I also hope that main stage gets a ranked mode at some point. Just a full 4 person band going against each other, no attacks, just see who can get the highest score. Now for this to work you'd probably need to lock everyone to one instrument for one song. So a person getting vocals in a Metallica song wouldn't insta lose. Idk, I'm excited to see how they do a ranked mode. I've been wanting one for ages
It's hard not to tbh, it was way easier in person because there's no delay added with discord. Sometimes I feel like there's a solid half second of delay after I'm done speaking before others react to it, and that makes it much harder to pace things because I don't want to leave dead air. It's something we're trying to work on though, for sure.
I can’t get calibration right in Fortnite Festival. You should make a video guide to calibration! I’m really looking forward to you guys dissecting the Rock Band engines, since I wanna know why you’re so mean to Rock Band 4! That’s my rhythm game of choice (haven’t dived into Clone Hero yet) and I love it… But I’m not a 10/10 player and my main instrument is drums.
I'll stop charting when Harmonix starts putting anime music into Fortnite Festival. Oh wait, that's never gonna happen. (When I say "anime music", I'm specifically referring to songs that are used as openings. Songs like "Guren no Yumiya", "Touch off", "Date A Live", etc.)
You should do videos about your favorite GH/Rock Band guitars. I think my favorite is the Beatles Rickenbacker guitar, but I’m currently cozying up to a GH3 Les Paul with new frets and the Raspberry Pi mod. I’m also trying with a Warriors of Rock guitar, but I don’t love the strum bar, as I’m generally not a pinch-gripper, ya know?

Considering that the Festival Guitar costs $130, and that despite it being a Rock Band Guitar... I think $200 could even be considered cheap for official Festival Drums.
Could a new Guitar Hero co-exist with Fortnite Festival? Honestly after seeing what Fortnite has done with Festival I dont think they can. Microsoft have already shown they are already cutting costs by gutting studios after all the buyouts they have done. I just dont see them willing to put in the money to even compete with Fortnite with what they have been doing.
Even if they do... they couldn't compete. If Guitar Hero would be accepted by the community, it would probably end like Guitar Hero ended in the first place, by them releasing new games every few months. It would most likely cost a lot of money, they'd most likely re-use the pay for restarts system and they would most definitely never have a system like Festival, allowing you to play without spending a single penny. And people are used to importing customs. Most people are okay with the fact that it won't work on Festival, but they'd expect it in a paid Guitar Hero, since we're almost spoiled by the fact that Clone Hero, Fret Smasher and YARG allow it so easily and by default.
You can't play Fortnite on Linux because of the anti-cheat implemented and Epic not wanting to put in the work. If a new GH could be played on Linux, you instantly get Linux rhythm gamers like me.
I mean... Clone Hero. And I don't think it's Epic. Tim Sweeney just doesn't like Linux. He hates it. So he obviously won't allow Fortnite on it. I'm sure a lot of people working at Epic want to get it working, but they just aren't allowed to.
I'll just give my take about the title... I don't think so. Specifically because I don't think that a new Guitar Hero would be good. Fortnite Festival is free, crossplatform and crossplay, with the ability to not spend a single penny and still play Rock Band. Guitar Hero would most likely cost a lot of money, require a guitar and I don't think that they would have a rotation of songs that you can play for free. They'd likely make you pay for the full setlist, like they did in the past. Worse case scenario... they do a 5 fret Guitar Hero Live, and offer another version of paying for restarts and such. And another big factor is: We have free Guitar Hero's. Fret Smasher and Clone Hero are better than what Activision would be able to do. And it's obvious that stuff like importing customs (or even the OG setlists) would be impossible by default on an Activision Guitar Hero. Even YARG can be counted into that, even though it's more of a Rock Band "Clone"

Hey I got a question about JP's guitars. Would those guitars be able to work on a PS3/Xbox360?
Yes, they can be programmed to work on both consoles. However, you would need to add an auth port to use it on an unmodded Xbox 360.
