GOD! I remember playing with Hero Factory so much as a kid, and it was my favourite childhood toy line from Lego. I genuinely wish they could bring back this theme again, much like they did with Bionicle back in 2016.
If I remember correctly the company outsourced the creation of the Bionicle like parts to another company that went bankrupt, so we won’t see the same resurgence. It is likely though we will see Brick Built version similar to the figures Marvel has been doing.
I never hated Hero Factory; I thought it was like the Avengers in the distant future while Bionicle is ancient mythology and Tolkien-like tales of history long forgotten.
@@dawidek8237they were, but it alienated the core audience while those who would’ve been interested we’re already committed to other themes. It tried to appeal to everyone and got basically no one.
@@Osindileyo That's what you think, It appealed to me when I had one of the sets, you're just entitled because you don't have better Hero Factory wave preferences than me lol.
Me too Hero Factory was my favourite toy as a kid, and I collected so many of the sets and the different seasons. My favourite were Savage Planet, Breakout and Brain Attack
The breakout era of HF was EPIC. Not only for the story, but for the excitement getting each set brought. This wave had all 9 heroes with their respective villains and the designs were fresh. Stringers guitar blaster, Speeda Demons motorcycle, the sheer SIZE of Stormer and Black Phantom, Furnos diving gear, and Splitfaces unique head mold are some examples of ingenuity of the set designers. HF breakout became the definition of Hero Factory for me. And seeing them making two more waves about fighting rabid animals is heartbreaking. While the story in Brain Attack was not unique, they all still had cool parts and weapons, and the feral creatures helped to populate the world the characters live in. However, Invasion from below had the vibe of unfinished Lego technic to it when building hero sets, and all the villains there were technically just protecting their home, making the main conflict too prolonged. Like why do you send armed forces to fight animals? Why not just send exterminators or something? All the waves before BA had heroes fighting criminals, which was the key idea of the waves. While BA had an evil mastermind who planned the attack, it didn’t show him, and in IFB there was no criminals. Anyway, I’m thankful for getting my hands on the Breakout sets, and sad that the company handled the story so poorly
I usually like the Villains from 2010,Ordeal of Fire, and Breakout more than the Heroes but imo my personal favorite Hero Factory waves are Savage Planet,Brain Attack, and Invasion From Below because as a Beast,Monster, and Mech enthusiast, the Quatros Animals, the Brainified Monsters,Battle Machines, and the evil Beasts (*Splitter Beast,Jaw Beast etc.) are all probably my favorite parts about them that the Battle Machines would make nice Mech MOCs with some Ninjago Mech parts to add on and the IFB Beasts,Savage Planet Creatures, or Brain Attack Monsters also would make nice Pet Monster/Creature MOCs too lol.
Ahh... Man I remember getting Bulk 3.0 (in high blur) when I was 3 years old, and for the last while I though I was basically same age, as 1.0 would be released 3 years prior? The first sets were in 2010 so idk, but yeah, sadge they were discontinued, I remember being like "where's the Hero Factory section??" when I picked up the free catalogue that was always there, man, for another thing, I remember how amazing it was when one day my parents bought me like 4 of the Breakout sets, it was Toxic Reapa, Thornraxx (fly), I think Surge maybe and Stringer? I have literally so many of 'em List if you care: Von Nebula, Thunder, Bulk 1.0 (resold by other people) no 2.0 3.0 Bulk and Stringer 4.0 (Breakout) Surge, Breeze, Rocka, Stringer, Toxic Reapa, Thronraxx, Jaw Blade, Speeda Demon, Black Phantom also XT4 (resold by other people) 5.0 (Brain Attack) Bulk, Stormer, Jet Rocka, Aquagon, Bruizer, Dragon Bolt also Furno XL, Ogrum (resold by other people) And finally, for Invasion From Below, I have Evo Walker, Stormer Freeze Machine aaand Crystal Beast P.S. of course quite a few of the pieces are partially or fully broken, mainly the fully broken ones and very sadly are Stormers, Jet Rockas, Toxic Reapas, Bulks (Brain Attack) head pieces, which I think those I liked the most (Stormer for sure, always wanted the 1.0 version) so of course by playing with them so much that happened, also I lost Crystal Beasts Head fully (how.) and ALSO, P.S.P.S., I had Chimas Laval, Cragger, Vardy (that ice bird fella) and Sir Fang, so ye, a LOT
according to these commercials, the ice cannon is overpowered. it can freeze things in place, they easily get destroyed when frozen and the villains can get decapitated with ease
I like that you can see the downfall of Hero Factory through the commercials. Breakout was definitely the peak, and they couldn’t live up to it with Brain Attack so they tried to get experimental in Invasion from Below by making them minifigure scale and piloting mechs and that just completely killed the brand. The whole point was to build hero’s and then they shifted the focus away from that and made the new sets not able to be played with the old sets because they were at different scales
@@imcpilotmichaelbell1185 I can tell you like Titanfall. But yeah I do like mechs, they just didn’t really work in hero factory form, hero factory was always about building the characters so transitioning to building vehicles for the characters instead of the characters themselves kinda ruined the point of the theme. But other Lego themes like Exo-Force do work because they’re completely about mechs from the start
@@lukestarkiller1470 Well when you think about it brain attack and invasion from below kind of make sense, cause in the first Hero Factory comercial the narrator said that they fight villains and “monsters”. So I guess they wanted to give the villains a break and get to the monster part.
@@francosaglio3640 that’s true, and I did like the idea of the sets, and some of the execution, but it still wasn’t as good as breakout and just didn’t sell as well

Bionicle and Hero Factory were both totally different things. I was only introduced to Bionicle growing up thanks to the Glatorians and later on the G2 reboot, but for Hero Factory my first actual set was the 2011 wave with the new CCBS system and I was a fan ever since. Sure Hero Factory didn’t have the in-depth story telling and lore as Bionicle but it was never really trying to replicate or even replace Bionicle. The kids who were starting to grow out of Bionicle weren’t the intended targets anymore, it was brand new kids who are just starting their LEGO journey or finding what else is new. And Hero Factory did exactly what Bionicle did with a brand new audience. Now when I was turning older I went back and learned as much as I could about Bionicle and appreciated everything it had to offer and I love Bionicle just as much as Hero Factory
While I like the pacific rim vibes of the invasion from below line.. Brain attack was peak hero factory imo. Makes me wish invasion from below was fully realized
