fun fact: an older version of this battle map had them floating in dead space, but I changed it to a thick liquid sea for that very possibility

As opposed to my other comment, allow me to give some praise
Nathaniel has been probably the most consistent character in this whole series and it has been beautifully well played. He is a complex character with depth who always shocked me with his spells or actions in a way that never made me think "Why?" Because it always made so much sense.
Cami has been a delight and so has Renee, always keeping the energy up and selling the emotion of her character very well, her interactions with the NPCs has been delightful and so has her interactions with Lancel.
Luna's relationship with Scorpio is amazing, her mystery with the Raven queen was a delight to watch unfold and that moment with her echo changing and all the mystery surrounding it was very fun
Enoch is a very polarizing character as far as I've seen but I've very much enjoyed his character. While his decisions weren't always the *best* decisions, they were in character and I always enjoy a party who doesn't immediately start off loving each other cause. His story with his dad becoming a celestial and trying to turn him into this vigilante and his morals being tested constantly was very fun and him shredding encounters was a delight.
Oh and how could I forget our wonderful DM? Jo has managed to create nothing but interesting and creative NPCs who are all varied and wonderful and interesting. His moments of emotion, his combat encounters, traps and maps and story have been *beautifully* well done. As well as wonderful music.
And all the wonderful artists with their beautifully well done pieces.

@@brentmation8454 Oh complaining about the characters treating Enoch like he was at fault over the Myrth incident.
He was the one who actually handled it well, it was the rest of the parties reactions that caused Myrth to run away. Enoch offered his hand in solidarity, apologized, let Myrth make their own decision and cast a necromancy spell.
The others yelled at them, belittled them, and made them feel like an outcast.

I finally caught up with everything and this was the episode that I got to watch live and OMFG!! Guys When I tell you this session is off-the-walls, I mean its Nathaniel betraying *MORE EMOTIONS OFF THE WALLS!!!*
His face betrayed ALL the emotion.

2:30:42 Fun fact: despite the sheer number of enemies, Jo still pulled his punches during the battle against Bloodstride, since his known spells (if you remember session 5) are Shield, Misty Step, Blight, and (most importantly) Counterspell (so he had the chance of countering Nathaniel's Dominate Person, but didn't). Maybe he did that because he knew Dominate Person was the party's last hope at that point, and perhaps also because Davvy could have cast that in the 1st turn and immediately finished the battle, but didn't.
I like to believe that this was both a conscious choice as the DM, but also because right at the start Bloodstride dumped EVERYTHING into raising the undead in the area. Notice that Bloodstride did absolutely NOTHING to counteract the party. He acted through his minions with full confidence.
Also as a person who DMs for a group of my own I feel like I wouldn't have run the fight differently in the slightest. There is something to be said for playing NPCs to their character. Nobody knew in-character that Nathaniel had that spell available to him at the end, and Davvy was specifically avoiding using that spell. I can see there being both player and in-character reasons to avoid its use, but it was a last-ditch effort to save things and it worked! Bloodstride had no reason to believe Nathaniel had that kind of power, and in true villain fashion was caught up in his game and arrogance and it was his undoing.
Just thought I’d mention he couldn’t act for the first two turns. And they were the only turns he was attacked. I guess the rest he could’ve attacked but maybe the Naga worked like beast master mechanics or similar
@@austintroxell5322 Yeah, I think Bloodstride's doing nothing to counteract the party could be explained by his overconfidence in his minions, maybe except for not counterspelling Nathaniel's Dominate Person (he even said Nathaniel "cheated", which implies that wasn't something he wanted to happen). Both Davvy's and Jo's out-of-character reasons seem clear enough to me (Davvy didn't want to make the last fight trivial by immediately casting Dominate Person, and Jo wanted to make their last-ditch effort have a chance to succeed), but I'm not sure about the in-character reasons. Like you said, maybe Bloodstride just failed an Arcana check to identify what spell Nathaniel was casting (and didn't counterspell it due to his overconfidence), but I'm not sure why Nathaniel wouldn't have used Dominate Person sooner.
@@tomirk4404 You mean maybe Bloodstride needed to use his action to control the Naga in a specific way? Yeah, I guess that would explain most of his inaction (and also why the party thought the Naga was the "real Bloodstride" for a while).

NGL listening to these fantastic humans roleplay and act their hearts out during the whole battle was getting all my emotions going. I tried to put this on in the background but it became front and center very quickly.
Also, the rumours are true JoCat does in fact have a very nice voice.

This series would make an epic movie! The character execution and progression is amazing, the story is brilliant, the NPCs are amazing - absolutely perfect.

How I choose to imagine the ending of Luna Versus The Bone Noodle:
It went to bite.
But rather than Luna parrying it, I choose to believe it was her radiant aura flaring that deflected the attack and finished the construct, all at once.
Thanks so much Jo and the others. This had been one hell of a ride! I'm so sad to see this go but also very excited for the conclusion next episode. This show has given me so much joy over the last fee months. See you at the finale!!
Enoch: Shows compassion and respect by not physically looking down on Mirth and taking off his hat to show Mirth has his undivided attention.
Nathaniel: Calls Mirth a literal child and causes them to leave the room.

Sad to see no one else really picked up on this. Everyone else was trying to force Mirth to see things their way, while Enoch was the only one trying to give them space, and then blame him for not giving Mirth independence, all the while still calling them a child.

I didn’t have the time to watch this live (sadly) but I have to say, I am so excited for the final session. Sad that the campaign is ending, but I’m sure it’ll end with a bang.
Idea: even the playing field. If necromancy cause black veins, tamper with the world magic and make every magic type change vein color temporarily. Equality through diversity!
Why stick with just veins?
Necromancy: Causes beings to look decayed and old, representing the negative energy that flows through them
Illusion: Causes images to flicker around the user, representing their current mental state or what they're thinking
Enchantment: Their appearance seems more appealing or intimidating to people, the people witnessing them sometimes realize there is something wrong, but can't place a finger on it
Divination: They sometimes hallucinate or get dreams, occasionally being able to read minds, unable to tell if it is reality or a vision
Transmutation: Occasionally affects their own form, causing changes, such as a sudden shift in hair or skin color, a lighter body, etc.
Evocation: The space around them seems to glow and shift a little, temperatures around them also seem affected
Conjuration: The space around them shifts a lot more, a weird physical force of attraction or repulsion, like magnet, affects the people around them, tugging them

Ok, so I gotta wonder, what was the original possible plot gonna be if the battle went… as planned/expected? Makes me curious about one of the campaign art… how would that have played into the alternate universe that didn’t come to fruition?
Probably wasn't life threatening to the party. Probably more a "good ending" vs "bad ending" scenario. They saved the crystal and killed blodstr- sorry , Lazlo, and saved all the students, including Mirth.
I bet if they failed it would have ended with only them and a select few escaping, resulting in mass casualties for the Spine of death. Perhaps even Mirth dying for the extra gut punch.
Perhaps the one epic shot of Luc could have been used booth ways. Instead of simply destroying the place after its empty, he sacrifices himself to allow them to escape.

This campaign has been an emotional Rollercoaster and bloody amazing job on all parts I wish I could be in a campaign that had this much depth and a DM half as enthralling as JoCat.
I can just imagine the scene of bloodstride and Nathaniel in a last gambit where he says "Suffer me now!"

Im hoping ill be able to catch the last episode live, this whole series has been a lovely ride and I love all these characters I hope someday there may be some sort of season 2. Hopefully if there is, I can watch that one live from the beginning heh

Ok Jo you're pretty much in my top tier of favorite gm's, not just because of the amazing story but also the vibe check, regardless if it breaks the immersion for the players, good on you making sure your players are OK. Thats more important and I love you for that

Can't believe I finally caught up just before the finale comes through. I've been bingeing the campaign for the past four days now and it's been a wild ride. The characters, the players, the worldbuilding, every interactions, and the twists and turns in the plots are absolutely magnificent. So excited to catch the finale on the 16th, cheers to you JoCat!
Well this was an insane ride. Cant wait to see how this crazy advanture will end.

Tragedy of Luke is the saddest thing in the entire campaign. He've pickes up necromancy to bring back to life his wife, his kids hated him for it, one even helped to capture him and put him through trial for necromancy. He lost everyone he loved, but he still took care about his doughter, he still would put his life at risk to help her and he died with his doughter still hating him. Renee will think that her father is still out there somewhere, that he lives knowing that his kids hate him, when in reality he in his lost moments had that fealing of not being able to redeem himself.
And after that, when i see how it ends, i have that wave of peace coming through me, as i realise that this was just a game.

Damn it, I read this litteral, SECONDS before it happened because I assumed that in the last 5 minutes of game there wouldn't be major spoilers in comments. *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*
Throughout this entire session and battle I thought bloodstride was testing the party to see if they had changed their views on necromancers, and in extension perhaps soon belkinus as throughout these last two session we really haven't seen an army of necromancers, but just normal people honeying thier craft for the good of society. Heck I thought Luke was in on it too as he was really the only necromancer who knew the party was in Necro HQ. I mean it kind of adds up with the portal only being accessable to the party, Luke away on "other business", bloodstride not even battling even though he very much could have in addition to his comments during the battle. I know in d&d that the game can take a multitude of paths but I'd like to have in my head that this may have been one of the possibilities.
I will always imagine Bloodstride in those high heel boots.

That was a very tough fight, but I appreciate how it was handled, especially 'the vibe check', it's an important bit, and also with the Dominate spell and when it was used :)

I really didn't think they would survive that battle in this episode. I'm completely surprised at what happened.
The more I listen to this game, the more I think to myself, "Man. My Conjuration Wizard would have been useful here."
But here I sit, watching the story play out, and missing my wizard since that campaign finished.

It would be nice for situations like this to have a spell that does 3d4 damage with a 500ft radius. The crystal would have very little damage, but the undead would likely all be destroyed.
Enoch was basically the only one respecting Mirth, and yet when Nathaniel causes them to get angry and leave, they suddenly blame Enoch???
If you weren't paying attention, Enoch botched all of his rolls to win over Mirth. He simply failed to persuade Mirth into believing him on the spot.
