- I’m not one for “magic bullet/one size fits all” approaches to anything in music. But honestly, 400hz on a snare reso ALWAYS sounds good. We critically underestimate the importance of the bottom snare head and look to the batter side to be the solve for our less-than-perfect tone. Try it, get a tunebot or any of those drum tuner phone apps and set 400hz on your reso and see what happens!
This the reason I bought a tune bot and tried 400hz on the bottom head last week, life changed 🙏 haven’t been happy with snare recording in my new place but now I couldn’t be happier 🙌
This is so awesome hear!!
As Rob Brown once said "once the bottom head is cranked, you can sit the tom head anywhere you want it!" So true!!
Pretty much. Although I don’t think 400 super cranked. But it’s easy to over do it!
@EliGreenDrums If you can get it higher than 400 Hz, then yes, by all means, crank it up. I've managed to get higher than 400Hz. But I just choose to stop at 400 so I don't snap the bottom head or anything.
I have mine sitting at 440hz, it sounds well good@XeRo333
Im gonna try these
Let me know what you think!

So welcome!
I was tuning the top side lug frequency to 261Hz. but the note not on C. Do I did the wrong step? Thank you.
The note listed is the pitch of the lug, not the fundamental note of the drum!
@EliGreenDrums Thank you very much for your share❤️

Tunebot studio
Tunebot Original actually - but the Tunebot Studio is the same thing, just newer
