In one concert, Slash covered for Axl Rose when he hurt his hand on the mic. When he came out, he wanted to hurt Slash for saying the wrong thing. Also, he threw a violent mood swing at Slash in the studio during the Illusion tours. Prior to that, Axl delivered blows to Steven Adler's head for waking him up from a drunken state. Slash and Duff both have to take some responsibility for their drug and alcohol addictions in the demise of Guns N Roses. Axl felt that he had to take control of the band because their manager Alan Niven wanted Slash, Izzy, and Duff to fire him. Axl demanded that Niven be fired. The road manager Doug Goldstein helped Axl get Slash and Duff to sign over the rights to name Guns N Roses after Izzy left.
