Wow, than you are one of the first Contendersailors ever, great to hear something from you and I´m glad you wrote me and you like the video. I also climbed once to the spreaders but capsized a couple of seconds afterwords. I would also like to see videos of that time and just no the vide of the Cotnender worlds 1979 in New Zealand here on youtube, maybe you are in that video?
Jan von der Bank also did a headstand while going over the finishing line while leading in the 2005 Worlds.

Wish I was this good! Someday I will hopefully and I just purchased my first sailboat, a Sunfish. (Lol)
Sunfish with good wind, 15 knots or so, will plane and is fab fun. I have a 1972 Scorpion, a Sunfish copy, Great boats, have a blast.
If you think this is fast. You should have seen me today sailing in my 420 club sailboat in 28.9 knots of wind. Sailing on a broad reach, plaining with my spinnaker up. Hitting 30 knots. Needless to say, it was amazing :)

nolan conlin Bro, i've sailed in 420 a few years before i treid 470 and 49er, and i must say, the 420 is just a shade compared to the 49er ;)
and the contender in comparison in faster than a 470 reaching in strong winds. but of course nothing compared to a 49er

Moin, danke für das Kommentar. Ja das Boot ist extra für ein Segel konstruiert. Segelfertig ist das Gewicht 83kg Rumpf + 7kg Mast + 3,5kg Schwert + 3kg Ruder + 2kg Baum + Segel bei ziemlich genau 100kg. Lässt sich deshalb super alleine handeln, sei es slippen, auf den Straßentrailer tun, Unter Persenning ranmachen...
DavidGER2355 Habe selbst ne alte Robby Jolle mit 4,2m und Rumpfgewicht 125kg.
Ob man die auch in Gleiterfahrt bringt, wohl kaum :(

DavidGER2355 Thanks for the reply! I live in Croatia, i'm 175cm and 75kg, i've sailed since i was 10 (25 now) in optimist, laser, 420 and 470 classes. I got some boatbuilding experience since i worked in a company that does that.
Lovre Peović Weight, size and experience i perfect. The biggest fleets in Europe are in Germany, Great britain and Italy. There are always used boats ready to sail under 2000 euro. As you have boatwork experience you would definitley find a boat there but in croatia it would be difficult. But ia would love to have a regatta there sometime.
DavidGER2355 I've found one for sale, however i don't know anything about the boat so purchasing it would be risky, what to look for in a boat except for no rot in the wood etc.?

Hey thanks for your ncie feedback. The biggest fleeds are in Germany, UK, Australia, Italy, Netherlands and Denmark, but also some boats in Sweden, USA, Canada and France and some more. I would check out the national class websites. here in germany a lot boats are for sale, also in denmark, britain, netherlands und the UK.

hey thanks, it is a fishing rod which is mounted on the boat. 3 ropes are minimizing the shaking of the rod so they are mounted at the end of the rod and are fixed with tension on the boat, shrouds or the mast

Never sailed a boat with a harness. How do you swap sides? Do you just disconnect and reconnect it?

That switch is very smooth. Must try one day. Only used to Laser and RS200 on a small lake so would be a change!

what laptop do you use for editing? I am considering a macbook pro....
TOM DEWAELE i have a simple acer laptop from 2012. macbook pro would be a good chice as it has better colors. Make sure that it has at least 2GB of main memory for HD videos. As the new videos get bigger and bigger and also in 4k more main memory would be of course better. the apple editing program is the best free program i know. i use sony vegas pro 11 which is really good bt it costs a little.

Thanks for the complement. I just saw I made a misake. I Have 4GB memory, that´s the minimum, sorry. Since zwo weeks I am testing my new garmin Ultra 30 camera. The 4GB laptop works, but a better would be great. In 2012 for the Gopro Hero 1 it was enough. So now I am also using the free Virb edit software for the G Metrix data but still Sony Vegas Pro 11 for the final cut. But check out Fabis videos. You see they are great with the free software. Never heard of it before, thanks!

I mean your camera, which is fixed to the boat. What you used to mount it to the video is not shaking on the waves ?
the gopro has a good automatically electronic it stablizer and i fixed the camera on an angle for fishing and used ropes to fix it in all directions to minimize the shaking, but it can shake a little bit thats good than the picture is ncie and soft while the boat is hammering on the waves

Moin, ich wiege 72kg. In den Contender bin ich mir 65kg eingesteiegen. Mein Bruder mit 45.
DavidGER2355 ich fahr halt einen alten Rondar (Ger 211 ) ist wohl ein altes verbandsboot gewesen der ist aber auch komplett kaputt gesegelt ,da ist man nach jedem Segeln froh wenn der Mast noch steht.
was spricht dennn gegen 420 und dann 470er :)

Hey, Contender is the name of the class like the name of other classes is 49er, 29er ... . The boat is build by Bonezzi and the biggest fields are in europe but their are als some in usa canada and australia

+Robert Anderson Sounds like a laser would be your best bet then! Closest thing I can think of which doesn't need a trapeze.
+edward stables Force 5's as well. That's what I've got. It has a bit more interior room than a laser.

It depends on which level you want to sail it. To be good in regatta of course it is hard in every class. To have fun with the boat and also in stronger winds it is important that you have a good knowledge in sailing and experiences in trapeze or being helmsman in a dinghy or skiff. It is more difficult as a lot twopersondinghies except from doubletrapezeskiffs, but harder as for example a 470. But if youve been sailing 470 (position is not important) and also in winds like 5BFD without a lot capsizing it is a good perequisite.
