Rafer Alston aka Skip to My Lou spoke on being called by the NBA in 1998, and how he landed on the radar of NBA scouts. Skip noted his starting salary was $220,000 and that he was the first street-baller to go to the NBA. Take a look above. - Розваги
Rafer Alston had a legit NBA career .. starter on almost every team he was on , solid playoff player
Facts, people always think he was a 12th man but ya man was a solid player on every team
Amazing career
💯💯💯
@@stringer2295 and he was solid in the 2009 finals
No shit Sherlock
AND 1 gave me so much inspiration as a kid all of the players just pure talent n creativity........yu gotta luv AND 1 & for what it done for the game of basketball. R.I.P. to flash, Alimoe aka The Blacc Widow & escalade.💯
@Skrill Dilly flash died bac in the day from a seizure I think that was in 2004 n alimoe died in 2013 from complications from diabetes n yu said yu heard about Escalade passing but yeah Rest In Power to all of them they all legendz.

Skip, alimoe, and AO were elite ball players who played at NBA level. LEGENDS
The good days bro ...remember the game they had ??
@@norf2153 yeah man when i first saw AO back in 02 on espn he blew me away. Then I found out about the rest of the crew and been a fan ever since
Alimoe had handles for his size that were undoubtedly NBA level. Had he gone the similar college route Rafer did he had a good shot imo. AO had a shot too I remember he played a season in the D league.
@@kaipovilla1343 yea Alimoe sold the plane ticket and didn’t go ...
@@norf2153 was supposed to go with skip to Fresno State
Listening to Rafer talk you wonder why he is not announcing basketball games...or on a major TV platform.....dude really has a colorful way of expressing his points, and obviously knows the game...frfr 🤔
I feel like he has a few more years in him to play. He looks very well.
I love that draft day story. Rafer's so real and humble
I remember Skip at Fresno City/Fresno State days. He was kinda wildin!!!😁 He's grown and matured by leaps and bounds since then. He and Larry Abney shared an apartment in The California's at the time. I remember they had this big ass US map on the wall with pins in it. Each 📌 indicated where basketball had taken them. That was really cool to see. Salute to the struggle!! Bulldog Proud!!! Props from a fellow CSUF Graduate 2000!!✊🏿👍🏿💯
A true street ball Legend. Ill always remember him from and1 and his time with Orlando Magic
Not just the first, but the ONLY one! My man set the bar and became an instant legend.
So much respect for this dude. He has always had to tiptoe lines between the street and the NBA and he has always done it with such class. He was an absolute solid NBA player with flashes of being elite and a certified street ball legend. One of the most memorable players in basketball history.
I agree. I got a lot respect for Rafer Alston/Skip To My Lou.
AND1 popped off the streetball scene! Inspired the world! Legendary!
Joe Hammond, earl. M and pee wee Kirkland are all legends‼️📌💯
Pee Wee said he was making more money than the league offered him 🐐
Please don't forget The King and The Duck... Legendary Ballers😂😂😂🙏

@@jaydadon777 naw I meant Goat cause he turnt down to league at 21 cause his drug empire was making more‼️ They wasn’t playing what they pay today BUT they were making for than your average person in America. 70s basketball was alotta coke hookers and furs shit not cheap
So is your mom, she a street legend
Great job VLAD. You letting SKIP tell his story.
Such a gentleman ‼️✊🏽
Get hot sauce 😂 or sick wit it..shout to to Spyder man and A.O 😂 DAMN I MISS THAT SHOW
RAFER, the struggle was real. I watched you, Tramain, Pettis, Ely and Dominick Young and even Chris Herron do the dam thang up close at Selland Arena. I was recruited hard by Tarkanian but I ended up at OSU. I used to play pickup with you guys in the women’s Gym.
It was a good run holla at me if you ever make it back to The No !
That's my guy guy...thank you Vlad I don't know what to do without you bro. My missing link I even had to go back to the Highlights the product man in the building!!!Price is right all day!💯
Skippppppp was the coldest back in and1 days i was a fan in his nba career from and 1

His hairline did

Great interview Glad
Watched skip play for and1 and watched him play for Houston rockets that was a blessing....
Use to ride to work with my cuz in Milwaukee, skip ain't have a car, he rode in the back seat, then kept the car and picked us up from work at Norris Adolescent Center...in 99
That’s a cool little story

Not sure about you all, but I love listening to Skip talk so much that I can literally listen to him talk FOR HOURS LOL! His stories yo! I always liked him as a player and person! My favorite And 1 player EVER! Thank you for these videos!
I remember the 1st time me and my brother Shaun saw this street ball doc on TNT, we went outside & started imitating The Future dancing while dribbling lol
Good interview
I appreciate him keeping it real
Such a Dope story!
Thx Vlad
I remember my older cousins & Watching the and1 tapes & running to the park trying to be mimic them 🤣🤣🤣 legendary era
I'm happy for this brother
Legendary.. Met AND 1 In my city “Bridgeton NJ” 2001-02 when they played at BHS , Alimoe & skip ain’t come though but I did get that Hot sauce & the future order graph Alston goated Ballislife
I used to love watchin and1 on tv back in the nba
I couldn't play "school ball". Coaches were mad because I don't know the BASICS. 5ft 10inch, mad-D, good ball control, spicy J, and a 38inch vert. Habitual "5-second rule" offender.
😂😂
SAME‼️ 2 on 1 fast break I’ll get pulled for a fake behind the back pass into a finger roll😂 Like damn coach I made it
Same bro same
The one and only SKIP ALSTON‼️
AO should've definitely played in the NBA. Happy for Skip proved that street ballers have what it takes to make it.
He worked out w the supersonics
Why he look like shotti lil big brother lmao
Ty.. Im like he remind me of someone
Ohhhh shit lmao . Shotti looks like the evil skip
I couldn't get 23 so I took 11 when I was younger cuz of skip! Was a fan of #3 too lol
You wasnt good enough to get number 23 bro lol
Dope draft day story!!!!!!!!
I remember meeting skip and hot sauce Escalade 1/2 man was so surreal watching my brother cross them up. lol great memories
AND 1, kids nowadays will never know what they lost, AND 1 made us fight in the court and be friends right after that, and kept a lot of health and hooping All day long, great memories, beautiful times
AND 1 !!!! Hell yeah!!!! Hot sauce was my favorite.
Eagerly waiting for the Sam Mitchell conversation.
I miss the And 1 mixtapes & tours
This was when NYC was known for basketball nowadays NYC trying to be like London in rap & soccer…their knocking down basketball courts & replacing them wit soccer goals
Crazy man I didn't believe that shit till I saw with my own 2 eyes ny biting the uk drill beats
They've been steadily 'Latin Americanizing' the United States. That's what the Soccer fields are about. They want black folks out.
@@VegasElement wait til they bring more Latinos and afghans... There gonna take over the projects.

Earl Manigault... Undersize Guard King 💯
The legend. Watch the movie "The Goat" if you've never heard of him
This story is so dope they transcended the NBA and changed basketball 4 eva
Joe Hammond actually still live in Harlem I use to wrk in the building he live in bout 2 yrs ago.. super humble cool funny dude
Most people don't realize though that before And1 he balled out at Fresno State. Yes he is from NYC and grew up on the Playgrounds but I think people fail to realize (prior to watching this interview)he did indeed have a good college career.
ACTUAL FACTUAL 💯💯💯💯
Skip is my little brother...I'm Ramar Alston. And MOST ppl THINK he came from Streetball to the NBA... that's impossible. He did NOT. He went through each step & channel to get there. He played high school basketball CardozoHigh School. Went to Junior college (Ventura CC & Fresno CC) then to D1 college (Fresno State) then to being drafted. His fame is what came from Streetball to the NBA not HIM. ⬅️(No pun intended)
PAY ATTENTION: He was in his JUNIOR yr in COLLEGE when he entered his name into the draft. Selected 2nd by the Milwaukee Bucks... that's not making from Streetball to the NBA. That's going from College to the NBA.
Dope story.
Legend status
BUCK 4 LIFE 414 I met this guy at an North Division and 1 event he cool asf 😎👌
Young folks might not know what Skip and the rest of the and1 guys did to revolutionize the game of basketball. Love it or hate it. They changed the game from your local parks to the league. A.I., Shamgod, Skip and Hot Sauce made 6'11 dudes feel like they had to have a cross over.
Remember when Skip slapped Eddie House in the back of the head cause he was lightning his ass up from the 3 in the playoffs??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😭
Aka Skip to my Lou dude could ball in had handles in a legend in both street ball in nba
Word Up
And1 definitely something special
Damn,Glad is undefeated 🔥🔥
He was Extremely underrated I think.
that E HOUSE CUFFF LOL
Is he ever gonna ask him why’d he slap 👋🏾 tf outta the back of Eddie House’s Head? Somebody needs to make that 30 for 30 happen.
Lmao I remember that shit live. Slapped the shit outta ole Eddie House
Skip is a pretty smart dude. Nice.
He’s on his Soulja Boy shi‼️😂😂😂🆙📌📌
Love this guy! Wait. Dr. J was a street baller, Wilt and Kareem too. Rutger Park. So maybe not the first?
Skip made the NBA, Half man half Amazing, AO, Alimoe and Headache could also have made the league if they took that route.
In the 90’s there was only one song...
“Like Mike
If I could Be Like Mike
Like Mike
Oh, if I could Be Like Mike”
Karlton hines was the real tragedy of them all
Yeah, R.I.P. to him man. Many don’t know that niqqa Karlton was tough af balling, handles, shot, dunks, crossovers, defense. True tragedy man
@@MrBrianpdj yeah super nice ball player
Facts... from the Bronx
Long overdue what’s good coach skip
When I was in the 5th grade , I woke up and saw Chris Brown goin at wit Hot Sauce. Streetball was DIFFERENT
He was loved in H Town.
The best street baller I ever seen was a young man named Buford “Buttocks” P. Jenkins. Beat baller I ever seen out of Buttery Butt, Oklahoma
Skip & Alimoe had the ball on a string handles was on elite level
better than NBA guards
Facts only 💯
Brian Scott was a REAL ONE.. GO CHECK HIS STOREY OUT
Respect to vlad for this but Vlad. We need hot sauce bro!!!
SKIP 2MY LOU!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Lloyd Daniels was first💯 salute to skip seen him down there when he got the name💪🏾we thought he was the dancing duggy bro🤣🤣🤣
He went to college... He wasn't Drafted off the playground 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
absolutely, but theres a small percentage of dudes who have such a rich connected tie to real street ball. we can say what he learned from streetball is what allowed him to flourish in college. cant say he was your typical parochial school kid or the kid who's dad had em dribbling since he was 3 making sure he went to every good school & was on the list of every good tournament. he was raised, grown and bred from the streets!
Skip. Legnedary. Always.
Bro was by himself at a bar, that shit is wild but real asf. Real killa!
Facts ny metro area summer league outside
Skip legendary
The NBA Higher Ups Tarnished His Career. They Wanted To Stop His Shine. George Carol Played A Role In That.
The problem was with AND1 in Hungary way back that kids were not in the basketball saw first AND1 and they didn't have the fundamentals of playing basketball...and they didn't care at all...so they couldn't shoot, they couldn't pass, they couldn't play team plays, they only tried to do these dribble sh*t and crossovers so lots of kids messed up whole games....so other streetball players in the 90s like myself hated AND1. Especially cos we watched lots of MJ and NBA videos.
He needs a movie about his life
I agree
Skip to My Lou kind of looks like Shotti now
Dead ass son😂😂😂
Big fan vlad
G. O. A. T.
Who else made cause I only remember Skip making it. I know some And 1 players had brothers in the NBA like 50. His brother was Kenyon Martin.
Shamgod...
0:54 He had to say it 5 times before I figured out he was saying “tournaments”.
no agent😒😂skip you a legend💪
7:06 he almost said rock but switched to basketball 😭
He was acually good and wasnt supposed to be
He was always supposed to be dude was a top 20 recruit out of high school . And a phenom at the age of 12 years old In nyc he was one of the most gifted basketball players I've ever seen.
Remember spida would hang from the rim upside down lol
Shoutout 2 Zeke!!!!!!
I thought it was that dude that was with 69…. trey way!!!! Lmao
Back in the And 1 days, I used to think if Hot Sauce went to the NBA he would be unstoppable. now that I’m more older and have a higher basketball IQ, he wouldn’t last too long. First of all he’s 5’9, and he travels a lot, and doesn’t have any other notable attributes. other than entertainment, he’s not very useful.
He wouldn’t even get a try out, but if prime hot sauce was to come out in this social media era. He would’ve been a millionaire easily.
True when i was in college i use to go practice at usc and a few of those dudes from and 1 would come run with us n that street ball shit never worked lol
How old were you when you believed that?
@@parlayin 11 years old.
Yo why I thought this was shotti from treyway for a minute lmao! They gotta be related hahahaha skip to my lou was the man though
