De Vinci said “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” I think that’s close don’t quote me. Perkins is taking a long time. I need closure, to see it operate. Love seeing things brought back and useful
Nice videos! I’ve been watching your videos because I’m working out the courage to do the same to my 4.192. Really enjoy them. I’m waiting for the adjustment of the rockers and valves. 😁
Great video! I’m trying to set the timing on the same 4-236 Perkins.. I’m having trouble getting all the marks to line up... Do you have a step by step video on how to do it?
briansmobile1 I think the show is at o.k. Anderson park and registration is at 9-10. Then a short cruise up and down the road (according to the lady we can do burnouts if we want) then to the park to show off the cars. I sent you a message on Facebook (personal page) with a picture of my 1971 ford f100. Looking forward to seeing you again if you can make it!
I’ve watched all of the videos, but returned to this one in hopes of finding out a little more about the mess I’m in. After resealing the injection pump for a T4.236 marine engine, my son spun the engine over before I had the three bolts installed through the pump timing gear. There’s a roll pin, that would’ve kept us in time, but it pushed forward as the gear turned without the pump keeping up. The pump timing gear is loose inside the cover, without the bolts in place, but doesn’t feel as though it could jump up far enough to skip any teeth. Any experience with a scenario like that?
Ticker: It's one of the free songs from the UA-cam library. It's by "Silent Partner." You can find it under the "Create" tab on the left in your "Creator Studio."
Why did you put the new seals in the timing cover then remove the gasket? You’re not concerned about contaminants getting in the seal? Wouldn’t you clean the timing cover THEN install the seals?
Why? Oversight. I do that sometimes because of being interrupted a lot for one and because filming and narrating everything by myself is distracting. Lots of set up and take down of lights, tripod, etc. Good catch on that! Ideally you tear everything down, clean it naked and then assemble cleanly.
Suspect it would have been better to have some lube on the timing gears before meshing them for several turns. maybe by hand it is not much of an issue.
It would have been better if you were to just check the air pressure. Instead of rebuilding the motor. Air pressure is key to performance . Check the air pressure next time . I don't think there was anything wrong with the motor. But good job ...
If you watch the tear down you'll find there was broken piston ring landings and the cylinder sleeves were worn way out of spec. The intake boot was split wide open and took on a ton of dirt.
If you checked the compression (air pressure) and it was low, rebuilding the engine would be how you fix it. Checking compression only tells if there's a physical mechanical problem with the combustion chamber.

Good quote. I'm excited to wrap it up too. Almost there.

Sweet! I'm putting my pickup in the Green River car show on the 8th of sept. if you can make it down!
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be in Price on the 9th. May could go down early. Where's the show? How do I know it's you?

I missed the other parts, can I get them on UA-cam? Any ideas why oil ooses from dip stick. Changed pistons and rings but still doing the same thing.
Countless hours spent on rebuilding the engine so one can hope it gives you many hours of service in return!

It really doesn't wear them by hand compared to what the loaded pressures are.
Hello to Part 5... did I miss something? ;-P (My apologies, had to... :-))
First
Thanks for B-mobbing this one! Stay tuned as I have a couple dash camera give-aways and a code reader give-away coming soon!
