We laugh now, but When Sanderson releases "The Cube", a one million word epic sci-fi thriller about a mysterious cube from another galaxy, he will have the last laugh
"Especially if they're named Joe. They all know each other." My university actually has the "Council of Matt's," which is a group chat containing everyone at the university named Matt. Several hundred members.
I think my favorite part about Fablehaven is that it's a kid's book and more happy and light with the darker undertones. It's sort of like when kid's movies have jokes for adults. The happy makes it more satisfying and shocking when something terrible happens. Like Kendra getting kidnapped, Gavin swallowing people whole, etc.
"How do you create your characters?" Mull: I like to come up with a defining characteristic for them first. Sanderson: Like a backpack! Me: A cereal box!!
I watched this intermittently while writing today and got 2000 words! Freak yeah. And we know how Sanderson's to-do list turned out. He ended up writing Shadows of Self before almost everything else haha.
This is my favourite writer chat/panel so far; such natural enthusiasm and good vibes between these two and plus they are so deep in their craft - very energising to watch

Well Mull may not be wearing the shirt he wore on Thursday but he is wearing the shirt Sanderson wore in this one: ua-cam.com/video/WXMASMvwqUg/v-deo.html
The Cosmere origin story series Dragonsteel will. In SA, some of the chapters have back and forth snail mail letters, and one of those exchanges is with a dragon. I think there's a Word of Brandon that we've seen a dragon on screen (so presumably in human form). At least one of the shards is a dragon.
That comment Sanderson made about The Rithmatist sequel didn't age well. Afaik, he still hasn't finished it and has released like 10 novels since this con in 2014.

Didn't he name it "The Rhythm of War"?

Hope they are better then council of Ricks
"As soon as you include something weird in your story, it's ours now" I truly love that about fantasy - it's regular stories but _spicey_
jauxro Yes 😂

Hello from 2024. "Spicy books" means something different now.
"…finished Words of Radiance and immediately started going through withdrawal." Oh gosh, this is so true…

I could write trilogy about Brandons internal struggle with his water cap
nashforcash haha 😂
My two favorite authors! They have so much charisma together
"Gandalf (he's kind of like the dog I guess)"
im here for this character analysis
Quite an experience for me. I read several of Sanderson books but, I never read Mull. Seeing them speaking is motivating me more to write.
Mistborn needs to be made into a movie. :D
Imagine each book into a season! It would be perfect.

They've tried
Sanderson's writing a screenplay.
Reckoners first…😓
“Wow it’s like we’re celebrities or something” No, Brandon Sanderson, you’re just one of the best authors in modern fantasy. Oh wait...
"How do you create your characters?"
Mull: I like to come up with a defining characteristic for them first.
Sanderson: Like a backpack!
Me: A cereal box!!
I feel bad for Mull, he barely got any questions! That would be disheartening.
When he said the elf princess I thought he was making a joke about Legolas
I Like You haha
In all my fanfic, Gimli is the surprise trap. I also write in a flat spot on his head for Legolas to rest his mead.

A 36 book arc across 6 worlds and they're all interconnected!!! wow
My kids and I LOVE Mull!

"Well, [in fantasy] I can do anything I can do in any other genre, plus I can have dragons"
Does Sanderson even have dragons in his stories, though?
Pounce Baratheon I think it's the concept more than anything
Pounce Baratheon
Alcatraz
Dragon steel
I hate dragons
Wheel of time
I think he writes dragons
wheel of time has dragons?
one of the shards is a dragon

With that up coming book list by Sanderson, you have just made my next few years.
Lol, I’ll probably be done with it in a year at most. ;)
This was awesome. Thanks for sharing!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it.
Never heard of Mull now I have to look him up
Younger target audience than Sanderson, but I really love his books. My favorite from him is the Beyonders trilogy.
(I know I’m late, I’m bored)
The " Mundanes" is something that the non magic people from Xanth are called. It's been a long time since I have heard that. Thanks guys.
Lol, I wonder what it would be like to connect to my mother via Gollum... mind explosions.
19:41 I KNEW IT WAS A REFERENCE I KNEW IT
They both seem like cool dudes
Great stuff! Please tell me you have the readings somewhere as well? ;P
I know, right. I'm about to go on a hunt for them. Was hoping he might have them posted.

Why are they so excited?
I guess its the power of the
brand-on
Can we just talk about how Brandon mull looks extremely bored unless he’s talking himslf
Damn, Mull is just totally lost in his imagination for most of this… 😅
My fav comment I know your not Stephen king

I loved mistborn and its world but allomancy was boring as hell
I don't think it's boring, but I feel like 16 metals is too much.
Dude allomancy was the best part about the world building in that
