Good to see you got it all back together. Did you know your bike is an sr model? The sr (road version) came out with a different piston and conrod from the off road version. I suspect the conrod has already been changed to allow use of the common off road version piston. The off road version also has a exhaust flapper valve which is missing on the sr. In regard to the carb needle has your needle been dropped by moving the circlip?
Hi thanks for dropping a comment. yeah i know its the SR, when the previous owner rebuilt the engine they changed the rod and piston. The needle is dropped down to the top clip, the issue is its not an OE needle or a Keihin one. No shop in South Africa seems to have the needle i need.
It's funny the different names other countries call parts. What you call a barrel I call a cylinder, some people call it a jug (idiots). But I'm glad to see ya putting in so much work for the great bikes people trash and neglect because their "450" is faster. Granted a 450 4-stroke is fast, I've wheelied them past 85-90mph, but smoke them on my YZ250. It's not the bike, it's the rider. If you're fast on a 2-stroke....you have talent. And 2-strokes are SO much cheaper to maintain. Plus less rotating mass so easier to flick around, especially in the air. Was born into a Yamaha family (father and grandfather own a dealership) but always liked Kawi's. Always hated Honda's though, even if they made me $6000+ in labor last year.
@@MudAndDustMoto My first 125 was an 89 CR125. It smoked the 3 RM125's my buddies had, could pull the front end up in sand in 6th (I couldn't get the RM's to, barely could in 5th) and my friends couldn't even wheelie on pavement. But I LOVE the 80's and 90's bikes. Actually have a love for the 1980-1995 80cc bikes, probably because I wanted one but couldn't afford one until I was too big. I'd love a collection of some of the great 2-strokes, but I'm not rich and dump thousands into the YZ250'S my son and I have. I'll be the 75yr old with a bunch of mint bikes and still riding! Lol
I think the KDX 200 power valves are still in production. There is also a couple of aftermarket options for kdx 200 powervalves, but they are fairly expensive. We used machine grade aluminium to cut ours, If you still have the original valves, it would be easiest to have them drawn up in cad so a cnc shop can cut them.

So far it does not seem like they have any purpose on my KDX as the top port is blanked, ive done a bit of riding and it seems to be all good. But i will definitely keep that in mind for the spare set, i might need to get a scrap piece first to practice.
I have a 92 kdx 250. I ride it every week in the woods and desert. It's a great bike. Love your vids on yours.
Thanks i appreciate it, i cant wait to get some more seat time on it.
I had a 1984 kdx 250. I loved it. I rebuilt it from the ground up twice, wish i still owned it.
I love em all, looking to get another KDX200 and eventually an aircooled one as well
I’m gonna clean my workbentch off ! Great Kaw!
Thanks for watching, its still a diamond in the rough, but its runs great.

Yeah i would love to have a collection of all the 90’s 250s.
Its worth keeping them together and using them, people forget how capable they are.

Where did you sorce new power valves?
Hey man, i had a new set made by a machinist. Sent him the old valves and some measurements of where they are located in the barrel.
What model is this kdx?
Hi Ettiene its a 1994 KDX 250 Sr
@@MudAndDustMoto thanks i appreciate it
