I beat Radahn first try after putting on Gwyn's theme

- I was ready to give up for the night and as a joke to keep myself going a little longer I turned off the music in-game and played Gwyn's theme instead and, no joke, got him first try. It even synced up perfectly with the timing, with the song ending as soon as the fight did.
I'm just pinning this here for clarification.
I didn't first try the boss in general. This boss fight took me MANY attempts.I meant I beat him first, try after I put on the music.

Parrying in general carried my through this DLC, especially Rellana
Radahn is basically super gwyn, where parrying him is probably the most intuitive strat. Although unlike gwyn, you have to parry him like 30 times before you beat him, making it super exhausting.
@@discountcrusader9773 I tried parrying, but ultimately decided that giant hunt was just better damage per minute than waiting for the attacks I could reliably parry. Giant hunt really carried me through the dlc and honestly, I don't really feel bad about it. Bosses are a lot more punishing and there are way fewer safe openings to use it than the main game. still had to learn the bosses, learn their stance values and learn when I could use it, when I could trade, and when I could recover if I messed up.
Not even Radahn can fight against the power of the plin plin plon.
Nice fight. Next playthrough I think I'll try parrying him.
Parrying him is actually a hack for second phase. He can’t use half his light moves if you just parry the beginning attack, making him a walk in the park.

Sorta, you still need to parry correctly otherwise you just waste hella stamina and lots of health, which could have been avoided had you just dodged.

I hate this boss.
Honest, he's been one of my worst videogame experiences so far. There is so much bullshit, I can't handle it. I've finished all Soulsborne games with all possible limitations, I know all the boss fights like the back of my hand, but Radahn is just so fucking wrong. All the other DLC bosses are clean and fair fights. Just what the fuck were they thinking with this guy.
Why though, he is easier than his base version and only does a lot more of damage

@@eliasfigarzon9813 nuh-uh. Base game one's problem was mostly he being big, and camera can't really be suitable for him. This one's moves are TRASH. And he still carries the camera problem (his cape flies around too much, but is as not as big of a problem as Caelid's). This boss is trash.

Honestly it's super refreshing not seeing a super high effort no-hit run. I was the same where it was a lot of hitting him for all I can, getting smacked for most of my HP, and then frantically chugging. I also got the kill after my last flask and man what a feeling

Watching you pull off that triple parry gave me a dopamine hit.
After getting parried he has a very high chance of doing that attack from his right, so you basically wait for it. The sequence is usually: parry -> R1 -> during R1 animation watch the boss and if he starts the right swing queue parry after R1. This way the parry timing will be just right with many weapons, I did this with a rapier.

sort of fits this fight thematically. Here you are fighting a puppeted corpse whose soul is likely unwillingly being used for another's gain when it probably just wants to finally rest. Sort of sounds similar in vibes to Gwyn's situation in terms of mood or tone.
Jerran's dialogue leads credence to this theory. He said Radhan asked him to promise him that if something ever happened to him that he'd be given an honorable death. Radhan would not have wanted this. Freyja kind of implies that with her dialogue too but brushes it off by saying "But he's better off alive anyway death doesn't suit him" she wanted him back so badly that she justified him being brought back and enslaved (essentially those under Miquella's spell will do whatever he wants them to do and for the most part not even realize it
Radahn who just wanted to save the people he loved and his home: _*gets betrayed by his own direct family, gets stabbed by Morgott, has his duel with Malenia disgraced when he realizes that Malenia’s pride as a warrior was discarded not to face him but to fulfill Miquella’s plan, gets brainwashed by Miquella, Ranni does not hesitate in ordering his death, his mother only looks as Ranni, and has his soul dishonorable and humiliatingly stuffed into his half-brother’s body by Miquella_
When you think about it, the only ones who honestly respected Radahn in his family were Mohg, Melina, and Messmer, by just not being a jerk to him. Mohg just wanted to create a place for the rejected to belong and live with pride, Melina loved the Lands Between and was willing to sacrifice herself for it, and Messmer was friends with his friends and really just minded his own business.

I did that with malenia multiple times but instead of Gwyn’s theme it was Game Over by Falling in Reverse

broooo i love the way u fought him with the shield, i need to use the deflecting hardtear on my next playthrough it looks so fun to play with shield and sword combo. the use of vow of the indomitable was actually so smart if u fully pulled it off. parrying aswell!? so cool, trivialises him spamming the same combo in the 1st phase. love it!

Why does he always look slow as hell when I see other people fight, but in there yourself it's a bullet-hell.
Probably cause when you're actually fighting him yourself you're more focused and concentrated on the attacks and they can feel like they're one after another, where as when your watching you're obviously a lot calmer about it

Did the exact same vid on my channel, just with the longsword and used Soul of Cinder for Phase 2. Another kill was with the Bastard sword. I do like the look of the light greatsword though, the recovery time is nice.

This is the way these fights were intended to go. Not cheesing with OP prenerf perfume bottles or stacking 10 buffs and amulets for a one punch build or abusing broken blees/poison/scarlet rot builds. Bravo.
For the life of me I can't seem to trade hits with him. I try to land one hit and then he's already got me to a third of my health with just two hits. Using a faith build level 200 and Im struggling any advice?
What armor are you using? Also are you on any NG+?

If your talking about when he disappears and does his meteor thing, no idea that was pure luck. The armor I was using the the oathseeker set but the chest piece swapped out for the death knight one
