PURCHASES HOBART CHAMPION ELITE ENGINE DRIVEN WELDER

  • So I finally decided to jump the gun and purchase an engine driven welder. The main reason I got this over the Lincoln Eagle 10000 or Ranger 225 was this was 600 dollars cheaper for better specs.
    The BobCat 225 was in my list also but was $3800 shipped vs $2709 on the Hobart, yes the BobCat had a few more features but I couldn't pay $1,100 more because of the Ac Weld Feature and CC/CV.
    I decided to purchase the Hobart to get small stuff around the ranch repaired.

    I hooked mine up with an electric fuel pump, 2psi. I like it better. I also got an analog gauge kit from Miller, 2 gauges amps and volts. I also ran a #4 cable from my truck alternator to the welder battery, with a solenoid, Nice welder, hope you get a lot of use out of it !!! GREAT VIDEO review 😆😆😆

      I cant wait to install this on my flat bed truck I am building which is also on my channel. I like the idea of the battery being charged by the alternator of vehicle its on. So basically you installed gauges to see the amperage, that is awesome. I wish you had a channel or video on it. I will check out millers page in a bit.

    • @billarroo1
      @billarroo1 2 роки тому

      @@aaroncooper2851
      the why on the electric fuel pump, ? Because if you don't use it everyday, the fuel evaporate s, making it crank for a long time before it will start. Plus you can at the end of the day shut off the fuel pump and run the carburetor dry, so the new ethanol gas DOESN'T rot the carburetor.
      Volt and Amp gauges, when your welding to code you need to set the specified voltage on the suitcase wirefeeder.

      @@aaroncooper2851 I remember now the Miller volt amp gauge kit is from a 325 or 350 trailblazer. and the induction sensor goes around the NEGATIVE lead inside the machine. . also both gauges are set in a ALUMINUM 1/8" plate that is bolted to the top front and Hangs over the front.

    • @thecordlesscarpenter7956
      @thecordlesscarpenter7956 2 роки тому

      @@archvile2764 I think the point of the comment was that Miller and Hobart are practically the same nowadays (same parent company but different brands) but they OBVIOUSLY share design departments or at least fluidly share the engineering behind both product lines. Granted the Miller machine will have additional features but for people like me that run stick only and have no need (or desire) to run mig, tig or FC, it's a perfect fit for a great price. The way I see it, Miller gives Hobart the designs for each machine, Hobart then strips the model down here and there and markets the striped down machine with Hobart branding for the DIY homeowner at a much better price. It actually works out well for filling the gap in between different Miller models for those that don't need all the bells and whistles but still need the power and dependability. Hobart machines literally have miller part numbers. Personally I do not feel Hobart is any more a "homeowner/DIY grade" welder than Miller is, in fact, I prefer Hobart in many cases.

      Its crazy how expensive things have gotten. I saw the Lincoln Eagle 10,000 welder for $3000 around the time I bought this machine and now it was $4999. The DeWalt compressor cost 2x now from date of purchase.

    How do I get that coupon too??

      I was lucky when I got the coupon code. I buy stuff from Tractor supply and they would offer every 3 months a neighbor coupon and it just happened to give me more % off when used online, it was a glitch I think.

      I used an AC welder for years and when I switched to DC it was the best experience ever. I can't remember the last time I powered the Lincoln. Thanks

      I sure due have a big head. The machine has served me well and even saved me from freezing during that Texas freeze we had. Thanks for watching.
