  • This short documentary film explores the tragic consequences of doping through the eyes of former East German shot putter, Heidi Krieger, and is a testament to the perils of doping. Krieger was unknowingly subjected at a young age to a state-supported systematic doping campaign that valued medal counts over the well-being of athletes. In the film, Krieger describes the often complicated effects of extensive doping on young athletes, and his subsequent long and painful search for gender identity. As a man, Krieger is now known as Andreas.
This film was produced in collaboration with the German National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

Awesome video, Andreas. I was born and raised in East Germany myself, so lots in this documentary brought back memories. All my very best to you and yours, I hope you're living your best life. Cheers from New Zealand :)

I feel that even the "anti trans" people should be able to understand the position that this person was put in. Andreas/Heidi was essentially forced to take on a man's body through the doping. In another interview, he talks about how people would call him different names in public because they couldn't discern his gender. Fully embracing masculinity allows Andreas to experience some sense of normality. He can blend into the public without getting stared at and ridiculed.

I would admit I'm heavily anti-trans, not Transphobic just against how it's pushed with them saying things like "I was born in the wrong body" and "I knew I was a girl".
But I try to stay opennes minded, and recently been learning that unlike MTF where a lot of the times you can tell (or if you can't tell, they look more like skinwalkers), FTM generally have a more potent effect due to really how Testosterone is like a thousand times stronger than estrogen.
I still see this person as a woman, but I feel I would use "He" to refer to them of I met them, you are right, it gives them a sense of normancy and this isn't thier fault it's what was done to them.
Also while I'm heavily against the Trans movement, I'm also against family abandoning someone because thier Trans, I understand where Andreas said that their family couldn't handle it.
When the LGBT movement really started getting more popular LGB was fairly easy to grasp , its like I like pepsi and you like coke.
I just figured since I like women , some will like men, women, Both ,etc.
But Trans stuff was like my brain just saw something was wrong, against nature , and the fact that as a guy most of my friends fear the dread of losing or injuring Testes , and then TransWomen want US to not see that as a problem just futher heightened my revulsion of the whole thing.
I really honestly don't know what to say, I'm sorry to Andreas Krieger, I feel the day we can actually turn Men into actual Women and Vice Versa , instead of just substitution with hormones and removing body parts will be when even me will be ok with the stuff.
But for now I have no answers for everything.

I am strongly "anti trans" and feel that this cult that is considered "hip" and "cool" right now will be responsible for the misery of many of its followers in the future. And dead set against anything like this for minors. Having said that, I absolutely understand this former athlete's wrath and decision. Being pumped full of that much male hormone, how was she ever to remain feeling or thinking like a woman mentally? The body's not the only thing that changes - the brain's affected too. I hope Andreas is happy and has many blessings for the rest of his life. And what they did to him is an absolute crime.

This story has nothing to do with mutilating a physically healthy child.

Alles, alles Liebe !!!!

I've been aware of Heidi's/Andreas' story for a long time and it's as sad a story and the greatest indictment of the behaviour of the old Eastern Bloc governments as there ever will be.
It shows how evil these tyrannical regimes were and how obsessed they became in establishing their self styled "moral superiority" over the "decadent West".
What amazes me as a Socialist in modern Britain is that there are people who will point at my Socialism and then try to accuse me of being no better than Erich Honecker, Nicolae Ceaușescu or Todor Hristov Zhivkov.
These people were evil and would stop at nothing to impose their twisted beliefs on the World, and people such as Heidi/Andreas were just "collateral damage".
We need now, more than ever, to forget our stupid, pointless political differences and start to work as one to ensure that such people never take power anywhere in the world again.
Who governs us is not important, it's how they govern which counts.

Crazy how Andreas is being the subject of all kinds of other LGBT pride & history vids on UA-cam, as if she chose this out of an identity or something.

Testosterone is like a thousand times more potent than Estrogen.
If you're a Guy your Testosterone levels are measure in Nanograms while females estrogen is measured in picograms which is 1000 times less.

Just how hormones work. Testosterone and it's subsequent conversion to DHT in the body allows for the development of secondary sex characteristics (deeper voice, body hair, balding, bigger muscles, adam's apple, etc)

i do not believe your family couldn't deal with it... it's not your fault that you became a man, so family can't blame you !!! you need to try to contact your family ...

Andreas Krieger is continually taking hormones everyday to remain as they are, being Trans means taking Hormones every single day.
If they stopped they would appear androgynous, since they started at a very young age.
I'm personally anti-Trans but I'm also against a Family leaving someone who is Trans , Family should be there no matter what (though I would stay with Family "actually" no matter what , which most wouldn't).
But I understand the family couldn't grasp it , I find it easy to understand Gays and Bisexuality, but Trans just triggers an innate response of disgust, fear , shock and feeling reality itself is crumbling.
Not always all of that , but I literally hate thinking about the topic , its like it triggers somthing primal in me that just feels like uncanny danger, the fact it's spreading into other movements from Transabelism and TransRacial (especially as I'm Black) just makes it worse.
And the nail on the coffin is how would I say "Bigoted" the movement is , at first I tried to keep my discomfort internal and state that those were their choices, but the whole you're either with us or against us , exasperated my uneasiness honestly.
Anyway I'm talking about myself to much , yes, Andreas Krieger Family should not have left him/her but they did when it's not even thier fault for what happened.
