In this video, see how to rebuild the bottom end on a Yamaha 225 outboard. This is a complex part of the process because it requires you to select the correct bearings for the crankshaft and the connecting rods. John will show you how to get the answers you need from stamps on the blog, crankshaft, and connecting rods so that you can choose the right parts.
To see the Yamaha 225 bearing sizing chart, click here: www.boats.net/...
Once we have all of the bearings, John will take you through the process of getting the crankshaft installed, getting the piston rings oriented, and then getting the pistons installed on your Yamaha outboard. We’ll then install the oil pump, crankcase cover, and water hoses.
Pay attention throughout the video. Torque is important during this part of the build. John will show you the torque values for the bolts and the correct sequence on the tightening sequence on the F225 crankcase to insure a proper seal.

John-cant believe how helpful this video series has been!!!! I have a HCB with 4 350's---had to replace one of the power heads. Now I know what the guys had to do!!! Ended up selling this boat (the 350's have been problematic!) and just bought a brand new HCB with three Merc 600's--I have left the Yamaha Clan for the other camp!! ;-). Thanks so much for the incredibly professional video!!!!

    Hey John,
Thank you for your videos. They have given me so much confidence in repairing my 2006 Yamaha F150 outboard. I have come up to two concerns. I am stuck trying to figure out what bearing sizes I need and I need some advice. My service manual is not helping. I followed your steps but have my five journal numbers 85, 88, 94, 93, 91, but on the cylinder block it only gives me four numbers 24, 25, 26, 27. Can you help me with this?

OK, how much would i be looking at for a 06 f150xrt rebuild? I'm told i have no compression in my cylinders.

Why did you use a new block? What was wrong with the old one? Why couldn't it be repaired?

Nevermind, somehow I missed the Bottom End teardown. What caused such corrosion damage to the block? Is water injected that far up the exhaust? When did they stop doing this?
