In the UK inter city highways are 6 and 8 lanes, it allows movement from city to city very efficiency, you can drive the length of the UK in 7 hours. In the cities the road networks are build around town centres with historic value so cannot be changed but London and many other cities have inner and out right roads to ease traffic flow. The UK started it inter city high way build over 60 years ago, and have much advance networks. Guyana though lack of funds never moved with the times but is playing rapid catch up now at incredible speed.
How about getting people out of their cars by building bicycle lanes into these new roads. In addition, create bicycle paths to connect neighborhoods. This could cut down on the traffic congestion and pollution and it would have the added benefit of encouraging folks to live an active life style! The distances between neighborhoods in Georgetown and surrounding suburbs aren't that great and even if they were, most e-bikes can very easily go 30 miles on single charge. Why not be forward thinking and emulate what the Dutch have done with their bicycle infrastructure in Amsterdam and Holland in general, instead of adopting the car-centric culture that is the source of so many of our present day woes of congestion, pollution and pedestrian deaths.
It's the wrong part of the world to suggest fancy ideas like that. The mindset there is the poor ride bikes. A better solution is public transport infrastructure like trams, mono rails, and bus networks for Georgetown.
@@trickydicky90 I don't think that it has to be one or the other. They can have both, but trams, monorails and bus networks cost a lot of money that they don't have and won't have for a while. Also, mindsets can be changed by civic leaders and education campaigns.
I agree with bicycle lanes. However since it may be for recreational and sight seeing purposes they will need to be strategically located to be compatible with traffic flows.
I don’t mean to contradict you, but the transparency of government programs whether its "demand" should be public knowledge. How much influence Exxon have? Usuall a summary of these projects should include: For example: A project by Guy Govt. Project:EB Bypass Highway 10 km of new 4 lanes highway From Ogle to Diamond. Contractor: ccccccc Cost:$$$$$$$$ Duration:yyyyyyyyy Consultant:
That’s correct. There was a sign at the side of the road stating that this east coast bypass was being constructed with a loan from the Government of India. The name of the Indian ambassador was on that signboard. I think this was shown in earlier videos of this construction project.
I know your intention is ultimate modernization, but trying to discuss technical infrastructure upgrades can be a little sticky.....wrt trains in the middle of a highway have to figure out how the passengers are going to get on and off, then cross the highway.
That’s the least problems to solve. Train Stations or platforms can be built at intervals where passengers can embark and disembark. The tracks can be elevated above the road. The road continues through an above ground tunnel and above the tunnel sits the train station or platform.
Raphael, I remember over the eastern side used to be sugarcane fields just outside the existing airport before I left the country in 1995.
I wish they would reduce the duty for cars, and start importing brand new cars for the same price we pay for old 2010 premio's
👌

Good morning, you're so on point.

whats bejing population as compared to guyana
What is your point? What is the population of Dubai or Singapore? They all have similar infrastructure to Beijing. Population is irrelevant.
