Thanks for making this video, very nice! Both the informational value and that song 50 years :)
Since I'm a drummer, it would be interesting to hear the whole kit with only the R14. Both as a kick mic, to hear how much bleed there is. But also placed somewhere you get a balanced sound of the whole kit. I get the feeling it would sound pretty darn good!
Burn Radio Thanks so much for the feedback! I continue to enjoy this mic. I’ll experiment with a mono drum mic setup in a couple typical locations. I think it’d work great in a larger, lively room. This room has some issues that I expect would be revealed.
Best regards!
Absolutely love how your voice is sounding on the R14, man! What did you do EQ-wise?
Thanks for the feedback. I'm still loving the R14! The signal chain was R14 into Apogee element preamp; only eq used was a hi-pass at 30hz. And the only compression used was a bit of Waves API 2500 on the master buss. The dry signal of the mic was rich by itself.
@@jesserayshelby2897 Thanks so much man, really appreciate that. Well, keep doing what you're doing - it sounds great!
Sounds great! Can you tell us more about how you used the Townsend L22?
I will have to look back at the session. For drum overheads, I most likely had it set up stereo, with a pair of 4038, access correction enabled…
3 to 4 feet above the kick drum, batter side - centered.
Ha, *axis correction... darn talk-to-text
crank up the volume on your preamp dude
