      I think absolute limit would be 1x1 @ 0 FPS

    Positioned dithering might make this weirdly usable.
    I did some what-if nonsense, once, reducing all textures and the colormap to 1-bit. Shrank the viewport to its minimum. Set DOSbox to skip nine out of ten frames. Made it as far as that imp killbox on E1M4.

      There has to be some timeline where as opposed to high-color icons they used moore's law for this instead =D
