I agree, I’m not sure what some are thinking Olise is as a player under a Maresca. On the wings Maresca generally likes explosive fast and powerful wingers that blow past their man to allow overloads. But also to make fast inverted runs when the striker clears a lane. Olise is not that. He is an inside creative player like Palmer, Nkunku, Carney and Paez. All these players I assume are fighting for the same 8/10 position. Apart from Nkunku who can play up front in some games. Sterling and Mudryk take the left. Noni, and I assume Angelo take the right. I don’t see why we are looking to take game time away from the other players. It causes disharmony. Using my common sense I don’t understand it. But I’d be interested to learn other opinions and if we buy him how it comes together and who the looses are. Sesko I understand! But that takes game time away from Nkunku in that position.

I don't think Gallagher running down the contract will be bad for him in terms of suitors. If there is a player, who was worth 50 mil a season prior, and is available for nothing, obviously he's going to get a good offer. Even UCL clubs outside of PL, who would be otherwise priced out of a move for him, will be tempted. I'm sure AC Milan, Barca, Juve, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Inter etc would love to have him. His homegrown status will keep him in demand in PL as well. And he will surely be used across the season if he stays. There were reports that the Mount negotiations broke down altogether after they offered him a 2 year extension, so they shouldn't do it for Gallagher. Why would he accept the extension knowing it will not secure his career at his boyhood club and will price out a lot of suitors in coming windows?
