Thank you so much for emphasizing how rare genuine fragrance compliments are, especially from strangers. It’s incredibly rare where I live too. I’m tired of this constant advertising on social media of “compliment getter perfumes” bc it requires people to be in close proximity to you majority of the time. Usually, I just take it as a perfume that’s pretty universally liked so I might like it. Perfumes are usually just for me to enjoy though 🥰

Bal de afrique is such a lovely perfume but does not last long on my skin, I got less than 2 hours. I bought Vetiver delight from aroma concepts. It’s lasts much longer on me and I also think it smells better than the original.
Hi Yana, I wore YSL Libre Le Parfum to a store, & a lady said: What are you wearing? I told her, & I asked I hope it smells okay? She never said that it did. ;) It was summer time in Fl. ;) I will never do that again. Live, & learn. LOL! That was my bad. ;)
I have gotten compliments on YSL Libre a couple times , Good info if someone just wants to know what I am wearing..I think I would say I am not sure I recall which I put on today 😂 if they can't say anything nice. Don't ask. 😅❤sorry I wear perfume for what I love 💞
Actually YSL Libre is the only perfume from my collection I NEVER got a compliment from anyone like ever) usually all of them get a compliment at least from someone I know and this one.. never)

Had a woman get off the train and chase me down the platform to ask what perfume I was wearing. That was the most dramatic compliment 😅 (It was Mancera Instant Crush layered with Kayali Vanilla 28)

Love the Armani Codes. I have the original, Satin and Cashmere. So warm and cosy. The sillage is close but wafts a bit, so I have had a few actual compliments.
Gris charnel is my most complimented perfume. Women at work go crazy when my body heats up and I'm a woman. Love wearing this esp when it rains, saving up for the extrait ❤
Yes, I love it for a rainy day! But I always layer it with that le Labo lotion
The extrait smells very different-- I was hoping it was a concentrated version of the original but it's not. The woodiness has been taken beyond that divine sandalwood (possibly a mixture of heavy hitters like cedarwood and so forth) and so it smells masculine in a headache inducing way on my skin unfortunately. Everything I love about the perfect balance of Gris Charnel is knocked about too much in the extrait. It suits my husband's skin chemistry and style much more. Despite loving and wearing mostly masculine-leaning unisex fragrances myself, when things go too heavy on woods and get mixed with other molecular compounds it's just too much. I'll stick with the magnificent original (I can totally understand why you get complimented when wearing it--yum!)

Levant is one of my everyday scents. I adore it, and I've had several, "you smell so good" compliments. It's such a pretty fragrance. Gris Charnel is one both my husband and I wear and get complimented on. Another compliment getter is Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir. Thank you for a great video 🫶

Agree with your definition of compliment getter! A person has to be in a certain range to really smell you. I got the most compliments surprisingly with Glossier You. An interesting one is in Japan by the sales lady who followed me to ask what I was wearing and said she loved it and can’t get it out of her mind so she followed me lol. I gave her the details which she researched right away! I knew then I have to keep this one in my collection 😊
I am so happy you featured Psychedelic Love 💜 it's one of my favorites from Initio and it definitely doesn't get a lot of love on UA-cam.
Honestly out of all my fragrances, the one I’ve gotten the most compliments from random people is Vanilla Vibes.. and usually long after I’ve applied it. It radiates so well off my skin. Absolutely love it.
And omg if only Armani didn’t reformulate the OG Code in the lace looking bottle… ugh that one was beautiful. Also a GREAT substitute for Alien is Ajmal Sacrifice for Her; it’s fresher with a lighter profile but very similar.. layered with Jaïpur Bracelet is 🔥 ❤

Would love if people around me said something, but often they don't. In Sweden we don't like to stand so close to each other, maybe that's why nobody says something 😢.

I had a coworker who honestly just told me she's not a fan of the vanilla scent I frequently wear, but there's one she really loved, so I brought some obvious compliment getters to the office and let her smell Coco Mad among others and it was none of those. Now I think it was Armani Code which I ran out of 🤷♀️

The only two people who always compliment me on my perfumes are my hairdresser and my husband. My hairdresser always tells me how nice I smell when I wear YSL Libre and a freshie Light Blue. Strangers never ever approach me.
My most recent compliment was Mancera Choco Violette. It was someone taking a blood draw from me, so she was quite close.😊

My most complimented (from women) fragrance are Hugo Boss Boss Woman and Calvin Klein Escape. Men seems to like me wearing Cacharel Anais Anais and Chanel Allure. I haven't tried the more expensive ones so I'm happy I can smell nice on a budget 😃👍 💕🤗

A question (what are you wearing?) followed by a “you smell so good” or “I like it” is a compliment. Otherwise it’s just a question 😊. That being said, Bloom of Rose from Guerlain is my most complimented fragrance. I need to buy a backup since I heard it’s been discontinued 😢
I rarely get asked what I’m wearing lol I don’t know if it’s because I sprayed too little or people just don’t like what I’m wearing. Lol but I seem to get most complimented on Chloe nomade and Delena exclusif 💕
I guess the perfumes that will get a comment or compliment are the beast mode ones and the ones that has been sprayed a lot. I agree with Mon Guerlain, the only time I have been complimented was when I was wearing Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose EDT (I think I sprayed a lot). The person asked if I don’t mind giving name of perfume because it smells good and also asked me where I got it. It was around Christmas time. I got my 3.4 oz on sale and sadly I think the reason it was on sale is because they are discontinued. I have to make it last and maybe try the original and new flankers. It’s not my favorite though. I think my favorites offend people, lol. 🤣

What are your thoughts on Chanel Chance eau Tendre EDP and eau Fraiche? The pink and green bottles? Something about the rest of the Chanel perfumes really throw me off, I think it’s the patchouli 😭
The time when I want to compliment people is normally while I'm out walking around the city. I'll get whiffs of people's scents and think they're so lovely, but people will be walking by too quickly to compliment them or I won't be able to tell who the scent trail is coming from.
I sold Gris charnel last year, instant regret. I imagine white blouse with jeans, understated but classy
100% agree with comments ≠ compliments. Sometimes it’s so bad somebody has to know what it was so they can tell the story later to their friends.
I personally have asked a few people what they were wearing, just so I knew to never buy that.

I get compliments all the time with my fragrances. I definitely over spray and I get a compliment almost every time I go out. My husband can’t believe how many people stop me and say I smell amazing. I think if you are not getting compliments you probably aren’t spraying enough or you haven’t found the right fragrance for your chemistry. My most complimented fragrances are Ormond Jane Ormond women, Blanche Bete, mind games Linora, Gritti Because I’m free.

Agreed. Comments aren’t compliments. Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP (pink bottle) and Fleur Musc have garnered compliments at least a couple of times from other women. Even I’ve complimented other women on their perfume to find out that it was a NR perfume.
Amber Musk by Aerin Lauder is so gorgeous. I'm with you on this; it would be one of my warmer weather signature scents too, only the performance is so disappointing. For that price point I just can't justify the purchase. I have a small clutch of 'poor performers' in my collection which I cherish and enjoy despite the frustratingly short presence on my skin and the total lack of projection but I drew my line in the sand and exercise restraint now in my shopping. It's such a great fragrance though. Bummer. So many these days disappoint me on a technical level, even though I want so badly to enter a passionate lifelong love affair with them because they are stunning, literally. Boo! Do you have any fragrances that you adore but deeply resent for not performing well enough to justify the high price?
People in Canada are apparently more open to compliment than in Germany😅love levant and gris charnel!

And there are these sweethearts at the office who just got used to me wearing different fragrances that they didn't even judge the smell anymore, when I get near they'd say, "hmm smells good", so I don't know about compliments, maybe they were just glad to smell something else other than the air of the hospital where we work 😆

I always get harassed when wearing Thomas kosmala no 4 but I don’t like it anymore, guidance, osm and atomic rose but probably a lot to do with the sillage. Levant is gorgeous

How many sprays do you spray regularly ?
It really depends on the fragrance - some only 2 (like Green Butterfly), others like 10-15 (ie. Bal D'afrique)

I also don't get the compliment thing because where I live, when someone would mention my perfume, even in a positive way, this would be telling me that it's too much. Excluding people who are very close to me and whom I'm hugging of course.

It's totally a cultural thing I feel. I've lived in the UAE all my life and here people are more open, more warm and more friendly. I've received compliments from complete strangers for my hair color to perfumes! Even I've once done a U-turn in a parking lot and ran upto a Filipino lady to ask her about her perfume 😅 she wasn't shocked or weirded out at all, in fact she was super flattered and we ended up talking about perfumes for a few minutes. No names were exchanged even. Wasn't needed. It's just like that over here. Perhaps I'd feel very out of place anywhere else in the world 🤷🤪

My most compliment getting fragrances in Spring/Summer are Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia and Floral Street Sunflower Pop. In Fall/Winter the most complimented are Black Opium Le Parfum and V Canto Mirabile.
I totally agree. I often smell things I don’t like on other people and am tempted to ask what they are wearing just out of curiosity lol. Fragrances I’ve received genuine compliments on are Iris Malikhân, Chloe Nomade Absolu, Lanvin Oxygene & Coconut Fizz.
