CompTIA is known for wording simple questions challenging. Once you cut through the red tape this is pretty much how the exam questions are. Study! Study!! And more studies so no matter how the questions are asked you can answer with confidence.
Question 58 is the reason I hate exams. Step 1 is disconnect it from the network immediately, or in the case of the answers quarantine infection. The question is so dumb, it's like asking "According to the best practices for putting out fires, what is the first step you should perform? That's right, locating the keys to the fire truck!"
agreed. I've been doing a few practice tests lately, some free like this some are actually paid for like Professor Messor and Mike Meyers. They all have some form of this question and this is the only test that says "identify and research" instead of "quarantine" or "disconnect from network."
Totally agree this exam is really redundant. I’ve built many gaming PCs and various workstations and I have to say some of these questions I believe are designed to trip you up. In a real world scenario everyone is gonna google or use UA-cam lol.
yeah, and i hate the justification for these types of questions "Its to see if you can think critically and decipher the problem based on how the question is written." Bitch, these are misleading questions, like asking "If a hole is 3 by 5 feet wide how much hole is in it?" Ha, its a hole there is no dirt!
Originally, BIOS firmware was stored in a ROM chip on the PC motherboard. In modern computer systems, the BIOS contents are stored on flash memory so it can be rewritten without removing the chip from the motherboard. BIOS - Wikipedia
Kind of antiquated info from a middle aged IT guy, there used to be devices called "top hat flash" chips which you could put a newer bios on and stick it on top of the BIOS ROM chip to overwrite the BIOS with a new version. Hello there, Not sure if you found the answer to this already or not, but essentially each octet in an IPv4 address is separated by a decimal. For example, the IPv4 address 192.168.50.1, 192 168 50 and 1 are separate octets (4 octets). The reason they are known as octets is because of how many "bits" are in each number of the address (8 bits = octet). IPv4 addressing uses numbers (bits) of up to 255 and each bit is associated with a binary weight (128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1). In IPv6, each set of bits are separated by a colon (:). IPv6 address are written in hexadecimal (the possible values range from the number 0-9 and then the letters A-F; this is known as hexadecimal notation). Between each colon is a set of 16 bits, identified by 4 numbers. The grouping is known as a quartet. If you've seen an IPv6 address written out fully you will notice 8 groups of quartets (8 groups of 4 numbers). It's a little more complex than that but I feel it helps to explain in simpler terms first, then expand.
Most of these questions so far are bogus. So many exceptions to the "rules". Like question 3; adding a graphics card as an expansion would certainly help to boost your CPU performance considering it wouldn't have to use the CPU's Intigrated Graphics for graphically intense programs, leaving more overhead for CPU-specific tasks.
