    This was extremely painful for me and after all was said and done the results were inconclusive because the fluid kept leaking out. My advice is make sure the doctor is experienced. I met my doctor moments before the procedure and he appeared barely old enough to legally drink.

    I had this and an SIS don’t back in April. It was the most painful thing I have ever done. The SIS was only worse because the radiologist I had provided no bedside manner or empathy. These things need to be handled carefully and I wish my experiences were better but luckily they found what my issue was and had surgery shortly after to correct it. I hope anyone scheduled for this procedure understands that everyone’s body is different and responds differently to foreign bodies and pain. So please, do not discredit yourself if this is insufferable for you. Please, also bring a driver with you just in case.

    Hi ladies. Had this procedure done this AM.
    I only write this comment to help someone who is apprehensive about this procedure, as I was before hand. Especially when reading the comment sections. As I entered the room I asked about pain during the procedure. Dr gave a fair response "everyone is different." THIS IS TRUE.
    Zero pain. If anything, discomfort in a few moments. I also needed to have an advanced balloon inserted deeper into the cervical cavity. The Dr did say it would be painful but I had no pain at all. However, I did take Ibuprofen 2hrs before the procedure.
    Some leakage after but nothing out of the ordinary.
    Best wishes x

      In the same way that a comment about how painful a procedure was for a particular person, a patient telling everyone don’t worry there is nothing to worry about. I felt nothing neither is particularly helpful in the big picture. Since so, many women have a horrible experience with this procedure, that should be mentioned and more importantly, general anesthesia should be offered to patient. I know physicians hate to hear that, but I see no reason why you should not err of compassion

    I just had mine this morning. Right tube blocked 😢 I still got my left one tho! All you need is one. The procedure itself took 5-10 minutes. I felt the speculum placement which felt like a normal ob/GYN exam. I was cleaned with iodine which felt kinda rough but not painful at all. I didn’t even feel the cannula being placed. When the dye was introduced the cramping started. Especially on the left side. I’d rate it 3/10 pain. Mostly pressure. I’m having light spotting, cramping on left side, and dye still leaking out. I’m 4 hours post procedure. The cramping now is also a burning sensation. I’d rate the post procedure pain 5/10. Overall it wasn’t horrible. If you’ve ever had period cramps or been in labor you can definitely tolerate this.

    I had my HSG today and my experience was positive. I understand everyone’s bodies are different but trust me when I say it’s not as bad at all. The test itself literally took 2 mins from speculum placement to contrast to withdrawing the equipment. I didn’t feel any pain or burning with dye whatsoever. I was surprised. The only discomfort I felt was with speculum and when they manipulated my cervix to get into the uterus. That’s it. Overall not bad at all. I’ll do this test again in a heartbeat if I had to. My doc gave me a clean bill of health - no blockages and even showed me my uterus and fallopian tubes on the monitor.

    Does a hsg cause ovarian cyst ?

    • @drlorashahine
      @drlorashahine  Рік тому +1

      In a way yes. The follicle that releases the egg from the ovary turns into a corpus luteum cyst that produces progesterone in the second half of the menstrual cycle. bHCG made by the pregnancy stimulates the corpus luteum cyst to continue to make the hormones that support the pregnancy. So the HCG didn’t MAKE the cyst but it does stimulate its presence and many women have a cyst in pregnancy for this reason. Thank you for watching.

      If you’re below 35, laparoscopy will unblock it! I was told the same thing but I got pregnant almost immediately even before the date of my laparoscopy surgery😂 I have 3 kids now, so I would say Yes! It helps to clear the fallopian tubes too 😉

    Please tell me you do better than my doctor and give women actual pain control. OTC crap did not cut it for me. I was in bed for three days crying after unable to move because the cramping was so bad and during, while I was almost hysterical from the amount of pain, my doctor told me to suck it up and it wasn’t that bad. Yes it was a man. I did tell him to fuck right off.

      I am so very sorry - cramping and some pain can happen but should resolve quickly - what you describe is not ok and I hope you had an evaluation to rule out infection, bleeding, and get pain medication. So very sorry
