Beginner's wire wrap pendant - 'Moonlight'

  • Hi guys, in this video I will show you how to create a wire wrapped pendant. This technique involves no weaving and is entirely comprised of wrapped wire. Suitable for all skill levels. Hope you enjoy! Leave a comment and let me know if you have any questions! ⬇️

    - 1.6 mm square wire (round works, too)
    - 0.8 mm half round wire (or 0.6 mm round)
    - 1 mm wire
    - 0.6 mm wire
    - 0.8 mm square wire (round works, too)
    - 1 x oval cabochon (mine is 20 mm x 15 mm)
    - 1 x 4 mm diamond cut gem or CZ
    - 3, 4 & 5 mm copper beads

    - Flush cutters

    - Bent nose pliers
    - Chain nose pliers
    - Round nose pliers

    You guys know that there's a mixed audience watching your tutorials and learning you would think you would add in gauges as well as millimeters. I really want to give this one a try but I do not feel like going and looking up all those wires. Beautiful work though ! ❤

      We do try our best. Despite that, sometimes we get it wrong. If you watch any of my later tutorials, you will find that I have added both, mm and ga.

    Very cool! I use a similar technique in the sense of folding base wires in half around the bail, really works for me! Love watching you work, very neat, inspirational!

      This is what I love about wire wrapping. There are a million ways to do the same thing and so often I think 'oh that's really clever, I would have never thought of doing it like that'.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial I did it !!! It took me 3 hours but I did it!!! I had issues with the small stone setting LOL I dropped that little stone so many times on the floor. Great tutorial.

    I'm just wondering do you have any tutorials for rectangular or Square cabochons with rather sharp edges?

      I think I got used to after a while. You will, too! Once the metal warms up, it softens everything up so it isn't quite as hard as it looks. x

    Would 18 gauge work for the frame instead of 16 gauge? Beautiful tutorial!!

      It could but the frame would be not very strong and bend out of shape, but yes, you could. Especially if the stone is smaller.

I was born in Germany, moved to France, back to Germany, Eswatini (Southern Africa) and the last few years we have lived in Scotland. (Hence my strange accent!) And you?

      You DO NOT sound like a cheese grater! LOL... Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch sprechen..... 6 years auf Deutsch.. in three years of high school.. i couldn't get enough of it!... I have been reduced to only a few words lately, alas it has been 50 years since Frau Mercer's classes! Lol..

    Is the square wire dead soft?

      I always work with soft wire as I find hard and medium too springy.

      I bought these on instagram. They don't come about often unfortunately. Search for aura quartz, that should turn up some results. Also try ebay.

      It's meant to be for people that have done some wrapping and want to learn how to set a stone in a pendant as it covers the most basic framing technique and doesn't have any complicated patterns to follow. Although I suppose you're right, the small stone setting isn't really a beginners technique. It was more like an afterthought to add that in. . I'm sorry if this upset you.
