This happened here in Indianapolis. Two guys were escaping, the cop had just thrown out stop sticks. Suspects hit him as he tried to get out of the way. Killed him.

How selfish do you have to be to do this to another person? That's just awful! I can only imagine his injuries. He'll more than likely get rehabilitation where I used to work. 😢

Suspect should never get out of jail. he may have been trying to avoid the officer but his felonious actions caused the officer's injuries.

An East Ridge Police officer was struck by a fleeing vehicle on Monday night while trying to deploy a spike strip.
Chief Clint Uselton of the East Ridge Police Department reported that ERPD Officer Alan Resendiz was struck by a vehicle fleeing from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Officer Resendiz was attempting to deploy spike strips in an effort to stop the fleeing vehicle when Ta’Bious Tezmon Wheat, 22, from Clarksville, Tn., swerved across multiple lanes and struck Officer Resendiz at an extremely high rate of speed. Wheat continued to flee south on I-75 into Georgia while officers on the scene quickly began trauma care on Officer Resendiz.
Wheat was ultimately taken into custody in Whitfield County and is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee. Officer Resendiz was transported by EMS with serious injuries. Officer Resendiz is currently stable although facing months of recovery. THP is conducting the investigation and is the primary agency responsible for criminal prosecution.

"Ultimately taken into custody"? That should have read, "Suspect received 47 gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries"!

Its not a good idea to be a Teacher or A c.o.p. in b.i.d.e.n America. Every one is short , cold , turse.

You're saying that our current Commander In Chief has somehow magically made all peace officers and instructors short? Cold? and I'm assuming "Terse"
Wow, I guess I'll have to have my doc measure my height, don't think I've shrunk.
It is not good to be a public servent when one of the people running for office thinks it's okay to deprive citizens of their rights on a whim.

WHY would this cop run out into fast moving traffic, it's sad he got hit but he was pretty much begging to get hurt, play stupid games win stupid prizes, or stupid hurts take your pick but he should have been in a car atleast for that stunt, he didn't even have a spoon to wave down the driver with sheesh, stupid cops. I use to live down there in Chattanooga, its been since 2008 but back then the cops were very corrupt and dumb, I doubt much has changed.

He was putting out stop sticks to try and disable the fleeing felon’s vehicle. This so the offender would not further endanger civilians like you and your family. So rather than try and insult the heroic Officers with your ignorant and uneducated comments, how about you thank them for putting it all on the line for stupid idiots like you???!!!

I think he was trying to avoid the spike strips and accidentally hit him. If he hwas doing it intentionally, he wouldn't have slowed down.

Assuming you're right, it's not going to matter. The officer was struck by the fleeing suspect . "Didn't mean to" is not a valid legal defense. I think the defendant has used up any benefit of the doubt in the matter.(SPOILER ALERT)
He should consider himself fortunate the officer survived

@@edthompson6131 The law isn't about giving benefit of the doubt. I do know he wasn't charged with anything related to him using the car to intentionally strike the cop, s that tells you something. Dashing out in traffic isn't safe for anyone and it isn't even responsible so it will play into it. I'm sorry your feelings got hurt.

There will be an investigation on it. I'm about 98% certain he will be charged. 2% chance I'm wrong (shit always happens) but 98% certain I'm not.

@@theprofessorfate6184 My feelings are just fine, thank you for your concern. He hasn't been charged YET. Interstate car chases through multiple jurisdictions take time to investigate thoroughly. Since this car chase started in TN and ended in GA . The reckless driving and evasion charges are easy enough, but since the officer was struck with the stolen car while performing his JOB, it's important to know what state the officer was standing in when he was struck. Wouldn't want to waste everyone's time and money filing charges in the wrong state. That wouldn't be fair. Be patient, we're going to be a little while with this.
