Hello, can you help me solve my problem with this screen, model AOC 2490vx? I have a problem when I convert the screen frequency from 60hz to 144hz, the screen turns off and becomes dark. A friend told me that there is a manufacturing defect in this model. Is it true? How can I fix it? Can you tell me? Thank you.
My "AOC Q3279VWFD8" died like this today. The past 2 days it had weird issues turning on, where all it showed was pixel garbage, either greenish lines, or black grey checker boards, sometimes even moving. Turning it off and on fixed it, but today it refuses to turn on. The AOC logo disappears (actually it's just super dim, if I shine a light on it at an angle I can barely make out the AOC logo as well as the Mainboards Bootup screen) The moment it enters Windows it turns fully black. If I turn it off and on again, it displays Windows and the Desktop for less than a second but then goes back into being a black screen. Same for when I switch Hz settings from 75Hz to 60Hz and back. Unfortunately, I have no experience in replacing and fixing stuff, especially if it's the power supply, so my only option is to get a new monitor, as this one is outside its warranty already. (bought 2018) Sad to see something with a 200€ price tag die after just 6 years, meanwhile my almost 20 year old BenQ 1080p HDMI monitor with a terrible TN panel still works flawlessly. From now on I'll avoid AOC as monitor brand, especially on the low budget area.
This is real odd, I have the exact same screen the AOC Q3279VWFD8 the 32" version that I bought back in 2019 and it has been great but in the last week it has been slow to turn on and like yours was doing the coloured lines on but when it did turn on it was fine but today it is just doing the flashing as shown in this video, since the monitor was out of warranty and seemingly dead I decided to give it ago as there was nothing to loose, opening it was a nightmare as there are tiny screws on the bottom and on the back at the plugs and there are clips all the way around and they used double sided tape , I had to use a thin butter knife to slide in and cut the tape and pop the clips took me about an hour. Once in it was just a matter of removing the electronics box and then the power board and sure enough like this video there where 2 bulged capacitors though there where of a different value, the two that went in mine where 470uf 25V at 105c, looking at the capacitors they are of a very cheap brand so its no wonder they failed though it is suspect that you got yours in 2018 and i got mine early 2019 and mine failed 5 moths after your comment. Ordered replacement capacitors of Amazon for about £5 for 10 so will see how things go when i get them.
I have a similar monitor I got for free. It flashes whenever a signal is given, but the backlight flashes a few times then turns off. But it does display and image, just without the backlight. Do you think this could be the same issue?
@@JohnB-2021replacement parts are hard to come by... Seems like a power issue, when fully discharging the capacitors the monitor works back up, no visible damage on components, any suggestions or parts that I should look into
That's what I thought at first, however after letting the monitor unplugged for a while or by opening an discharging the caps the monitor comes back to life

@@EQINOX187did that work?
@@gamagamer1877 Yep, soldered in the new capacitors and reassembled it and it powered up first time as normal
nice video as usual john
Thank you very much Courtney, great to hear from you.😁
You get all the easy ones
LOL Hooray, finally something easy.😁

At a guess, I don't think it's the same issue but it is worth having a look at the capacitors.
good day MR john just came across yr chennel i have a aoc monitor and the lights only blinking can u please help me sir
Sorry I have no idea.
Maybe a power supply problem.
How do you get the back plate off? The piece with locked lock symbol on the bottom right of the monitor when the screen is facing down
The front panel clips to the back.
Mine does not show the AOC logo at all sometimes, black screen white splash the sleep mode. Sounds like backlight to you? If so is it worh repairing?
AOC are great monitors, if you can find spares you should repair it.

@@miguel2592 I thought you said it may be the back light, it sounds logical and the first thing to check.
That's what I thought at first, however after letting the monitor unplugged for a while or by opening an discharging the caps the monitor comes back to life
Unfortunately repair rates are not worth, it looks cheaper to get a new one but I'm trying to repair it myself if possible
my aoc 27 inch monitor is flickering do you have any solution for that ?
Only the video.
