I absolutely love your testing videos Steve. Jealous of your adventures. And tell Em she's a wondeful rare daughter these days who would choose an outdoor adventure with her father. You're so blessed.
I think the new cast iron pieces are a fantastic idea. because of your R&D work, they can be used as a lightweight, more transportable, Dutch oven, I really like that.
awesome video Dad....my youngest daughter was my pardner she would have turned 27 this month she was killed in 2021 ...I sure miss her ...keep her close Dad .thank you for this video
Your little girl has grown up into a beautiful fine lady. I think it is awesome that she still spends time with dad outdoors. Most ladies her age are to busy...especially in the rain...lol. i cant even get my boys to come for an afternoon picnic. They say..take your dogs. SO I DO!
I prefer cast iron as it lasts a lifetime and is easy to clean and maintain. I love that its so multifunctional (like most of your stuff). I would definitely buy this for car camping, would be a solid addition to my kit. I would be interested in its weight but can probably guess. Lovely video thanks
I had three daughters (only). They were daddy’s girls, all enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing …until they turned 13-14 years old, when they left Dad. They didn’t even say, “Goodbye”. Then when they turned 25 yo they came back with some kids of their own. YEA…. The cast iron is always great on a fire. Your box skillet/Dutch Oven may be just the ticket…Thanks for sharing. From northern Kentucky
It's great you have those memories with your girls, they'll cherish them always I'm sure. Thanks for your comment and feedback as well! 😁 cheers my friend.
Just when I think I have all the cooking gear I need. This is brilliant! Can’t wait to buy a set and play with them. I have loved every Firebox product I’ve ever purchased, and I so appreciate your connection to your customers, through videos and recipes and sharing the testing process and all of it. I’m a senior female solo camper, and cooking lakeside is my happy place, so thank you for this lovely video, and please thank Emma too. When you’re ready to release this product, please consider offering a set-two cast-iron whatchamacalits, a pair of suitable leather gloves, and a small goat. 😊
Good to see Emma again! Wow! She's turning into a beautiful young lady! Kids grow like weeds, it's amazing to see how much she has grown!! Love the cast iron pans!!!
Yes, she's definitely turning into a wonderful young adult. They are all getting so big. The cast iron pans are pretty neat, we are very excited about them! 😁
What a wonderful father and daughter campout! Such wonderful memories! Bill cracks me up, especially when he was bullying Emma and his hackles were raised, too funny! Emma has the absolute right idea about how much icing should go on the cinnamon buns, yum! The new addition to the cook set is awesome, the ideal new pans! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Steve, this is why I love your channel and your products. It's all about getting outdoors and finding new ways to make great food. The cast iron kit worked beautifully. I love how you got the steaks up to temp and then gave them a nice crust. Excellent job on the cinnamon rolls and then biscuits and gravy. It looks like all of the prep work and practice runs really paid off. Great job!
Thank you! I tried to do a little bit of everything but I enjoy being with my family the most as well. It's hard to get everyone's schedules to line up especially once school starts.
Really nice to see your daughter still love going camping with you... you got a great loving family keep it up firebox guy i really love all your creations and that skillet i muat buy
I sure miss camping with my kids… my oldest daughter is 47 and my baby girl is 40… with two maniac brothers in between. We had some serious good times back then… It is sad when winter kill hits your favorite little fishing hole. It used to happen all to often in the Bear Tooth’s in Wyoming… then Wyoming Game & Fish decided that the brookies were not Indigenous… my favorite fish to eat. I can imagine flipping my steak over with “Firebox” grill lines all across the cut. Those cinnamon rolls and biscuits (as I eat my 2” thick French Toast) are mouth watering. I am pretty sure either Wyoming or Utah should adopt the mosquito as the state bird… darn those things! I think you cast iron griddle, skillet pan is going to a hit! Another awesome video sir, God bless and thank you for sharing.
@@fireboxstove you are welcome Steve. I have been the back pack thing for almost 50 years. If you look at my pack kit now, it’s all Firebox gear. Your products work period. I try to avoid camping in the Goni Desert so I can always find stick to get my water hot for coffee or a meal. You stoves give me the option to prepare food as good as I can at home and that my freind is cool. Cheers
Really liking the cast pans! It looks like I’ll be adding them and possibly a new pack to the things to get! Love the adventures Steve. Your blessed w/ amazing places.
Girl Dads Rock! Great trip and I am stoked about the cast iron collection. That pack looks cool as well…gonna take all my allowances. Cannot wait Steve!
I cook and bake with small cast iron skillets on my large Firebox stove. The rectangular design and the ability to cook on the top and the bottom is a wonderful idea! Can't wait till they're available to try thank you for your wonderful videos and tutorials
Your persistence in seeking simplicity and perfection is infectious. I thought my Firebox 'Nano' and 5" Firebox were all I would ever need, but an open mind and your creativity has given rise to new possibilities...
I have been watching your videos for the past 5 years or so. I am inspired that you keep pushing the boundaries with new creative ideas. I can't wait to see what you think of next.
Super entertaining video, from trespassing on a closed road, to Maggie growling over Emma. Introducing the Firebox Fiddle makes music for your Mouth. Not just a griddle its a Fiddle. From the Folks at Firebox. Cheers!
Steve, dude! Take my money! I've been a fan and supporters of firebox for years, have the Gen 1 and the Nano, carry bags, cooking tins and so many accessories, this is the holy grail!
Thank you Steve and Emma for these tests. The new Firebox Cast Iron Kit was certainly put through it's paces and demonstrated you have another worthy winner..
Long time user and lover of your firebox products. Watching you use and test your inventions outdoors with your own family is why your gear works so good.
Can’t wait for the new pan addition and that coffee kit pack looks mighty sweet as well 🤗 You may have addressed it in another video and I missed it, but where is Levi? 🥺 Thanks Steve and Emma and the rest of the pack for another adventure!
Thanks for your feedback,Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
Well steve you made another very enjoyable video thank you . I am glad you had your camping and fishing buddy with you to enjoy .. Father GOD likes to see fathers and there children doing things together and enjoying each other there ant enough of that in this world so thank for your good example .. A big howdy to you and your family from the mountains of KENTUCKY ..
Glad to see the new cast iron working out. I love cooking with cast iron. I use "egg" rings to divide food in my skillet. After watching the original vid for the new cast iron, I have imagined all the different uses. I think I suggested using a divider to cook 2 different items in it. I think 2 handles with one shaped to fit as a divider would be great. You could bake 2 loaves of bread or biscuits on each side. Or eggs on one side and bacon on the other. I would definitely buy the shallow pan and also the deeper pan. I have a 1-quart Dutch oven. Your new cast iron would be a great replacement.
Killer video as always, Steve! Love the new stove, could be a game changer in the backcountry, I love the size of it. So many possibilities for cooking!
Lookin’ good. Excited for the the new additions to the Firebox family of products. The square pot is pretty exciting too. Reminded me of the old days with you cooking trout and hash browns on the old square GSI skillet. Keep up the great work and making memories with your family. It’s nice you share the experience with all of us.
I'm so excited, I absolutely can't WAIT for this to go into production, this will be the PERFECT compliment for my firebox .....small and packable, yet sturdy and nonstick with the proper seasoning, you just keep outgoing yourself sir, keep the great products coming and I will definitely be a supporter, besides the stoves I have the adventure hat, the leather easy money wallet, ...... I've got "firebox" on so much stuff people are starting to ask what exactly IS firebox 😂
Thank you for the comment and feedback, it's greatly appreciated! That's awesome people are noticing the Firebox logo while around you. You're ongoing support is great.
that was great! love the cast irons, and the coffee pack sack, and of course Maggie, Junie & Ash. looks like your daughter is following in your footsteps, that's awesome. I'm hooked on the Hakata spice, it's so dang delicious.

Steve what a nice camping trip with your crew and Maggie has grown so much. Awesome to see Emma join you she is so lucky to have you teach her good camping and cooking skills and she seems to be a quick learner, appreciates it and loves it. Thanks for sharing with us all your inventive spirit and products that make camping more fun. 💕🐾✌
Lol, yeah. I've been enjoying off-roading since I was 16 and got my first vehicle which was a Jeep CJ5 1975. Blew up the engine and replaced it with a AMC 360. Too much fun for a kid I'd say 👌👍😎
Everything ok with Levi? He's been absent from the last few videos that you have Bill out with you. I see you managed to dodge that pesky stalking rooster too on this trip. Maggie's turning into a very good girl with the training she's responding to. Emma seems to be your adventure buddy, makes a dad's heart glad to see that, and I know you're cherishing every moment of it. Lovin' that new cast iron! Sadly, ALL of my camping gear was stolen a little over a month ago, including all three of my Firebox Stoves and cook kits. All of my hammocking gear, my cot/tent, my chuck box, my stakes/poles/lines/tarps... all of it. Thousands of dollars worth of gear. I really despise thieves/burglars.
I hate hearing about things being stolen! Lowest of the low lives in this world are thieves! Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
You have me excited about your new goodies as usual 😊 I'm hoping for some videos showing these new grills with the Freestyle soon! I'm already looking forward to adding one to my kit though 😄
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for the support and we hope you enjoy many great meals out there. We are hoping to have the pans at the end of this year, beginning of next year. They'll be great!!
Some kind of trivet to get the griddles off the coals so they can get some air. Certainly do work well as an oven even without the trivet. I've seen small trivets made of horse shoes. Could use rocks to get it off the coals as well. I like the locking pin concept to keep them from sliding sideways.
One thing I noticed with my 5" firebox, is it never scorches what's underneath it. The only time I have issues is when embers fall out the feed hole. I don't think I would ever set my stove on top of the cast iron.
For once the mosquitoes were a GOOD thing, eh? :D Glad you avoided that storm! :D Chuckled at your description of "bribing" Emma to camp with the promise of quality STEAK! :D I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of the cast iron product(s) It appears your seasoning has developed significantly from the first test you showed? Looks like the ("standard vs. deeper) pans provided adequate airspace and room to rise for the cinnamon rolls as well as the biscuits. That was the question I was most curious to have answered.. and with a positive outcome! :D YUM! Misc. questions: - Was that the blue cordage you sell on your site, that suspended your tarp? - Which size round cutting board were you using for your steaks? - What general grind of coffee works best in the aeropress? AND, does decaf coffee work OK in it? (for a bedtime brew :D ) I know that some home coffee makers don't do well with decaf. - what knife were you using for kindling prep, and was that the same knife Emma used for steak-cutting? - Did you take any special TYPE of firewood for your cooking/baking? It seemed to create decent coals, and it didn't seem to create as much of the thick sticky soot common with much of the pine/fir we have out west? Beautiful scenery/video footage was the added bonus as is so often the case with your videos! :D
I absolutely love your testing videos Steve. Jealous of your adventures. And tell Em she's a wondeful rare daughter these days who would choose an outdoor adventure with her father. You're so blessed.

Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
Love the goat! I have a small herd of little Nigerian Dwarf goats and I would love to take a couple out like that
These guys have been bottle fed from a young age and trained daily so they do great out there! 😁 they think I'm part of the herd now.
Liking the new protducts.
Thanks!
I really hope the cast iron does well for you!! What an excellent combo!!
Thank you kindly, we hope the same thing!! 😊 it's pretty exciting.
You have me excited about your new goodies as usual 😊
I'm hoping for some videos showing these new grills with the Freestyle soon!
I'm already looking forward to adding one to my kit though 😄
Thanks!
Nice!! and that's a good-looking pack. Got my 👁 on it
😁 thanks for watching!
Very very excited for the Square Dutch pans! Just bought the 5 inch stove and loving it. The cast iron would make the best compliment to what I use!
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for the support and we hope you enjoy many great meals out there. We are hoping to have the pans at the end of this year, beginning of next year. They'll be great!!
That is a great idea about the premade sausage rue.
Thanks, a viewer suggested it a couple years ago 👍😎
Thanks for making the cinnamon rolls I suggested from the last video.
I could taste them on tv. Lol
Lol we need taste-o-vision and smell-o-vision in our lives. 🤣
This is going to be a killer Steve!
Nice! Thank you!
Some kind of trivet to get the griddles off the coals so they can get some air. Certainly do work well as an oven even without the trivet. I've seen small trivets made of horse shoes. Could use rocks to get it off the coals as well. I like the locking pin concept to keep them from sliding sideways.
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate that! We are very excited about this product and it's abilities we are still discovering. 😁
One thing I noticed with my 5" firebox, is it never scorches what's underneath it. The only time I have issues is when embers fall out the feed hole. I don't think I would ever set my stove on top of the cast iron.
Thanks for your feedback. I have definitely burned some wooden surfaces. He definitely transfers past the ash pan of the 5-in firebox 👌
For cooking while car camping or packing looks good. I will have to place and order and try it packing in the back country of NC.
It's a great little pan with great possibilities!! 😁 thank you for the comment.
I was thinking about this the other day, and i bet you could make one awesome Panini or Cubano sammich with those!
And waffles! 👍😎😊
Shame I'll be missing the rendevous this year and the chance to see the new stuff. Can't wait for the Kickstarter drop!
Thank you Chris! I sure appreciate your support on this. Be sure to have notifications turned on so you don't miss any announcements 👌👍😎
Thank you for your comment and support from Argentina, we really appreciate it! Levi may or may not be back, it's looking like it's not likely. 😭
@@fireboxstove 😮😮 cuánto lo lamento 😢, espero q supere el problema y pueda volver. Muchas gracias por responder cada comentario.
Would love to have you give a class on the Firebox Stove next year at the Palmetto ADV Rally in Charleston, SC
Sure, sign me up 👌👍😎
@fireboxstove that would be awesome i will email you to discuss thanks for your time and great products
Hardcore hammer axe to the rescue!
For once the mosquitoes were a GOOD thing, eh? :D Glad you avoided that storm! :D Chuckled at your description of "bribing" Emma to camp with the promise of quality STEAK! :D
I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of the cast iron product(s) It appears your seasoning has developed significantly from the first test you showed? Looks like the ("standard vs. deeper) pans provided adequate airspace and room to rise for the cinnamon rolls as well as the biscuits. That was the question I was most curious to have answered.. and with a positive outcome! :D YUM!
Misc. questions:
- Was that the blue cordage you sell on your site, that suspended your tarp?
Very slick
Thanks!
