- Here I show you a quick system for switching canvas backdrops during your headshot or portrait session. Also works for short rolls of seamless paper.
The backdrops featured in the video are from Artery - www.arterybackd...
The clamps are from TetherTools -

Cheers, Ben!
Truly enjoyed this video and I just subscribed as well.
Thank you Ivan ! I have learned a lot since I saw your special Affinity creative session for Serif six month ago.
Thanks, Tomas. That's great to hear!
Very interesting, Ivan. Thank you for posting.
Great information Ivan. Subscribed. Should have done this a long time ago!
Good to have you on board, Charlie.
You have to put more your instagram account to every of your videos description.
Good point.
This is awesome Ivan..Do you think I could use the same setup with a roll of savage seamless paper for headshots?
Yup. Also works for short rolls of seamless paper.
I’m two years late but the knuckle on your grip head should’ve been on the right. That prevents the bar from completely falling if it ever became loose.
Interesting video Ivan..Could I ask what size are those small canvas back drops? Also with regards the larger ones, do they get damaged when they are laid on the floor and walked on?
Portrait size - 1.5 x 1.8m. Canvas is tough. And, like an old pair of jeans, if they get a bit scuffed, they just look better.
@@IvanWeiss-london Thanks Ivan that is much appreciated....
Great vid Ivan.
Ivan, any suggestion on brand of C stand and grip arm to make that setup with?
Here I'm using a Matthews stand. I'd also recommend Avenger.
Happen to go on youtube to see this :) LOVE
It's like I made it especially for you :)
Nice painting 🎨. Wonderful. Please was it the normal emulsion paint we used for houses? If not, could you reply in the comment below with the type of the pain.. Please
I don't paint the backdrops. I get them from Artery (link in description)
What cores are you using? I was looking at PVC pipes but I think it might be too flexible...
I'm using PVC cores in this video. As they are on a grip arm, they don't need to be particularly rigid. If you were supporting them with a centred Matthellini clamp or similar, aluminium would be a better option.
Well that C-Stand won't fly away, for sure.
You have c-stands that can fly?
Are your canvases stapled onto the PVC pipe?
Carpet tape under, gaff tape over.
Truly love this set up!
I'm bout to order some backdrops from Artery, do you recommend staying with the "Portrait size" or would the "small size" from Artery work just as well with only one c-stand?
In terms of weight, the c-stand will take it no problem. You might find it useful to use more counterweight at the top of the stand to prevent it from bouncing around too much. As a quick solution it will be fine. But If you're intending to have it set up semi-permanently you may need another solution.
