The noted engraver Brian Powley from Ohio demonstrates his gold wire inlay technique among other things at the annual Engrave In held in Monteagle, Tennessee.

There's a magic phrase "reasonable and customary" It is reasonable and customary to transfer ownership of an abandoned item after 30 days. Different states and different laws but most states I've lived in after 30 days it's yours. If you post this on your website and or forms documents etc.

Multiple places to buy small quantities. A refiner like Hoover and Strong if you are buying large quantities . 24k is the easiest to inlay

What caret gold do you use.

I don't know if you've found the answer since but inlay is usually done with 24 ct gold or fine silver. It CAN be done with lower carats but it's more difficult
