    Very helpful video. I think mine started when I stubbed my big toe, and had it covered with polish; didn't realize that fungus was starting. Would LOVE to be rid of this once and for all.

      SAME HERE!!! It’s such a depressing problem to have, especially because it feels impossible to follow all the preventive recommendations to get rid of the fungus and keep it from returning. I really don’t want to take oral medication because it’s not good for the liver. I don’t need health problems from a less-than-optimal liver, thank you very much. I’m instead focusing mostly on eating a very clean diet and avoiding sugar and refined, processed foods, which I think are some of the biggest culprits to reducing immune function.

    I have suffered with fungus on my big toe for many years with a yellowish nail and white powder like substance under the nail , mostly confined to the tip of the nail.... I have tried most remedies except Rx oral meds ( too hard on the liver ) ....I have recently found a treatment that has worked for me .... I clipped off as much of the damaged upper part of the nail as possible and I apply OTC Lamisil cream daily ( being sure to get it under the tip and around the nail bed, as much as possible ...... I do this every morning, after first cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide...it's now been 3 months and my nail is still short , but the nail is growing out normal and clear again....I have not yet stopped this daily treatment.....any advise on when I can discontinue this regiment?...thank you

      It will take approximately 1 year for your big toenail to fully grow out ....good luck with that, you will need it ! I have been treating fungal nail infection of the big toe nail for easily 45 years. I haven’t tried injections for it yet. Once the infection gets to the very start of the nail bed you will have a permanent split in the nail. I never seem to get fully rid of it, but close.....always close.

    Every remedy works differently on every person. So you gotta try them all to see what works best for you.
    What worked for me was.
    1.Being barefooted as much as possible.
    2. Keeping the nails as short ass possible.
    3. Foot baths for 15-20 min 3-4 times a week. Apple cider vinegar, listerine mouth wash, hydrogen peroxide 20-30% pure one, They all gotta be diluted with warm water.
    4. After foot baths or showers dry your feet with a blow drier. Then add any choice of fungus ointment on the infected nail.

      You're right, I've been doing white vinegar and water foot soaking for 30 minutes everyday, I dry my feet with paper towels and then blow dryer so far it's been 5 months and my nails are thinner and look clearer but still not fungus free😔 how long did it take you?

      @C. Lord I use a ratio of equal parts water and white vinegar, try to get a smal plastic container where only your toes fit, that way you won't be wasting soo much vinegar, if you are using the listerine I do 2 parts water by 1 part listerine(the yellow one only) I do the listerine soaking once a month and the vinegar every day, also use about 2 to 3 spoons of baking soda with the vinegar soaking

    Hi thank you for your helpful video! I have a question ! My toenail has cracked from the bottom and is lifting about halfway. It looks as though I have another toenail that is growing in underneath. I want to prevent taking off the nail if I can. I was just curious on your thoughts.. do you think I should wait for it to naturally fall off on its own or take it off ? It is not in pain or catching on to socks or other materials.

    • @TheFootScraperDGPodiatrist
      @TheFootScraperDGPodiatrist  4 роки тому +4

      If its not causing any pain on an attempt to cut and is loose and not attached to the nail bed then it is an option to prevent it snagging on something and tearing off in a less painless fashion. If you have another nail growing under that's a good sign.

      You're most welcome and it's so nice to hear how strong you are to being to do what you've been able to do! 😊 I would focus on clearing any skin fungus first before tackling the hard skin. Once that has been done you can use a pumice stone to exfoliate the hard skin and use a good foot cream with urea as a keep ingredient to help soften them further. If that's not enough then make sure to see a Podiatrist. Make sure you shoes are fitting comfortably and wash your socks inside out. Keep being amazing! Hope you get to play with your family soon 💕

    Here I noticed all these OTC products at the local store showing boxes with a toenail pictured on the front and touting fixing the "appearance." Then in the small print on the back of the box it says "This product is not effective on the scalp or the nails." So I wasted $15. In other words, it seems they are only some kind of paint for the nails. None of them will cure the fungus on/in the nail itself. But you have given some very valuable information about prevention that I am going to implement. Great advice. Thanks.

    Is zinc pyrithione in the concentrations found in a hair shampoo worth a try? I can apply it and keep for an extended period of time under a plastic film. After a long walk my one yellowing nail has become slightly painful, turning dark and feels foreign. I need to walk in order to drain stale fluid from my feet, esp. in summer.
    I've doubts about Vinegar. I tried it a couple years ago. It readily damages soft skin when cleaning with it, smells strongly, and is too liquid to apply locally on just the affected finger.

Do they replace amorolfine treatments such as Loceryl? Are they prescription only? Is Loceryl prescription only? My GP wouldn't prescribe! I suspect she protects her budget since my need is obvious.

    • @starfish3704
      @starfish3704 4 роки тому

      I am a chirpodist working in Germany. Terninafine oral is a last resort. You should first have a liver test and see if there are any problems. It affexcts the liver and can have bad side affects like loosing your tastebuds for a period of time. Each one is different. Loceryl polish is available over the counter. Best do file the nails at a chiropodists pratice.. those little files they they give you are rubbish. It is applied once a week-. I have not had great sucess with it or Ciclopoli for that matter.

    LYSOL SPRAY KILLS NAIL FUNGUS. BETTER THAN ANY OTHER TREATMENT. So like a year ago I hit my toe so fucking hard it got bruised and bloody. Some how the nail got infected and started growing a thick nail on that one toe, but on both of my feet... which is weird I didn't hurt the other foot. Somehow they both shared the infection. Well, we have recently been spraying our running shoes with lysol... sometimes I don't wait for them to dry and eventually I was like occassionally spraying my feet with the lysol spray.
    Long story short. It's quickly killed whatever was on my toe nail. Now it's going back to the normal sized nail.
    It's way better than any store medicine.
    You probably don't want to spray your feet if you have cuts on them or cut too closely on your nails exposing sensitive areas...
    I know some older people have really bad nail infections and the store shit doesn't work. Lysol really does work for the stubborn nail infections.

      @@mizrainmedellin You need to spray your shoes like every other day that is what keeps it coming back, you can spray after you cut your nails as long as you don't have open cuts it may sting. I don't know if it will it's never stung me but I don't have open wounds. Also "corn huskers" lotion gets rid of cracked feet and hands.
