You two work well together - the puns and innuendos are like nuggets of Gold😊
Nice too see you again and nice plane man 🤘🤘🤘
@BrianPhillipsRC thanks!! Been flying for a long time back when power was glow powered. Now electric has the strongest power/weight ratio. Been watching you for a couple years now I really enjoy your comprehensive descriptions on how to set up a plane with today's complicated electronics. I've been out of the hobby for 12 years now I have a health problem that really greatly affected my ability to get around and to actually have money. I'm thinking about getting back into it though it's just like riding a bike right? Hahaha we'll see. I'm a Gonzo 3D and slope soarer from California and now live in Texas so I think I'll use stuff with a prop there's not much slope left out here. Never got into dynamic soaring although it is very intriguing 500 and something miles per hour with a glider? Yes that is not fake I've seen guys hit about 200 just going in circles. My thing used to be to get as high as I could like a thousand feet and then do a downwind high-speed dive over the slope from the lift side to the rotor side at about 200 miles an hour straight down to where the bottom of my "U" was right over our heads hahaha. Nothing beats RC!!
FYI this is a pattern airplane, it is 3D capable but with the long tail moment and without 3D control surfaces, it is way more difficult. Not a 3D plane....
The top wing is a cantilizer. It makes the rudder more effective and stabilizes KE flight
yes, thanks!
Good stuff!
The top wing is a cannalizer. It helps with rudder effectiveness. Helps with knife-edge.
I've been waiting 3 years for this..........
Is not a 3D plane. Is a pattern plane. Two different modalities
It heart me when camra crew said who uses 5s batteries( me) 😢 on my travel air balsa low wing
I'm sorry! :( Brian did remind me that we had one on a plane that Brian's grandpa built... just definitely not common place around this house. :)
All rhe battery's i have are weird 6s 1500mah 5s 5000mah and 3s 500 mah
Love the bolt together assembly on this not quite 3D plane. Does that make it a Double D? Wowzers.
Do you think FMS contracted the FAA to put info on that box? Lots of misleading words that have little or nothing to do with the reality within the box, itself?
Sorry you had to put the control horns on, Camera Crew.
Gotta say, this is NOT the plane i thougnt you'd be releasing this morning.
Kind of expected to see something a little more UMX'y and p51'y...
Oh well. Youll get that one soon 😊
Happy Valentine's Day, Pham 👍
#1... 😜🤣😁😎 Ohhh-Yeahhh, I LUV Double-DDDs!!! 😲😲👍👍
You have claimed FIRST, but your comment wasn't - FIRED! LOL JK
Not a 3D plane. Pattern plane. Totally different. True pattern designs always have longer moment arms for tracking and stability. 3D planes specifically lack stability . Good ones anyway. Still great videos. Truth in advertising is everything in this hobby. You are correct. Just tell the truth. Its BS to have to wait so long for a plane to arrive, only to find out its nothing close to what os advertised. Thank god for the truth Brian! I was really interested in this plane till i saw this video.
Yep, and sorry we missed that F3A thing (Already replied to the other comment with a book - LOL )
@BrianPhillipsRC all good man . U still have the absolute best rc plane channel out there! Keep up the excellent work. Honesty and integrity is everything and u and "camera crew" are great!
Camera crew is sexy when she angry...but not as sexy as you when ya angry Brian. Ha ha! Jokes.....😂😂😂🙂🙃😘 China glue, nope ya should have used bolt together glue!😂😂 😂😂😂😂
Thanks ;) XOXOX LOL (yeah, camera crew is right here, laughing with me)
First one to like it again
I would actually be interested in purchasing planes that require more assembly If an ONLY IF they would offer them ata reduced price. Ive been in this hobby for 30 years and remember when ARFs were just starting to be developed. Lots of great aircraft designs but not many companies seem to actually know how to build them. They need to be serviceable. Many pre-installed hinges and control horns are not installed with the proper geometry. And no disrespect to you or anything but truth is you are spoiled because you haven't had to build many planes . You assemble a lot of them because thats just the nature of rhe hobby now. I realize this is a relatively small hobby but these companies could triple their sales if they would put a little more thought into designing them to be able to be worked on. Every model should be designed with the ability to change out the battery trays, motors and every part that wears out without having to chop up the foam. Keep up the good work man
I hear you 100%, and just replied to a later comment of yours.
What you don't know is that I DID stick build some smaller planes as a kid. A few P-51's (Guillows / Sig) and a B-52, and an F-5 and F-14...and a few others. I never had the means to make them RC though, as a kid - I did cars, trucks, and train sets, and all sorts of legos and technics - loads of electronics and computers - I was a total geek [...was... - LOL LOL LOL]. Before my Grandpa died, we worked together on making his kit planes RC, and then flew them together. This was for about 3-4 years before he passed away, early in my experience with this RC Aviation hobby, when I REALLY didn't know much about what I was doing...but more just kinda getting my feet wet. He and I loved that part of this experience. It was HARD and rewarding. Wish we would have had more time to share that aspect of the hobby, but we did get some GREAT times together, and shared some footage too - so it will live for all to see for a long time ;)
You're right that we're "spoiled" and I don't take any offense to you saying it - WE DO KNOW THIS, and do speak of it from time to time. Knowing HOW hard it was to fly RC just 30 years ago, and the skill and determination it took back then, it's a WONDER anyone did it...BUT to be fair, you weren't fighting a battle for attention with tablets, cell phones, internet (well, BARELY the www) and the whole market was different. You HAD to go to a model shop. You HAD to get help, since it was the way everything was sold. That's part of our mission here. We don't want this hobby to die JUST because the way we shop has changed. We NEED people like us to help people that are totally GREEN to get their feet wet. We don't all HAVE hobby shops, and while that's a bummer, and we do help to put the final nail into some of those shops' coffins, the market dictates what the world wants, not what WE want. Hobby shops were a hallmark of our wonderful hobby, and we hope some will survive. I think business is HARD, and those who do it better be good at it. We live in a LOT different world than 30 years ago when you started into the hobby...and even 10 years ago when I got really into this hobby...it's WAY worse in a LOT of ways, but it's better in a few. My point, and I think you'd agree, we have a big burden to bring people into the fold. It's OUR job (you and me) to win peoples hearts and minds for this hobby, if we want it to be around for my Grand kids and beyond.
Hope this helps, and makes sense. I do GET what you're saying, and agree with it...but that's doesn't necessarily change that what we're doing is necessary in the formidable environment that our hobby lives.
@BrianPhillipsRC all true man. I guess the biggest thing I miss is being able to drive to a model shop now full of aircraft and kits . Not many exist. I'm lucky to still have one local family hobby store. Actually called "Family Hobbies". They ate great but like everyone else very limited in available inventory. I hate ordering online but I'm having to change slowly. Thank you for the reply. Didn't think anyone actually read comments without a secret "password " or something. Ha! Lol. Really awsome that you care and devote so much effort to our hobby.
Brian, the Olympus is not designed to be a 3D aircraft, the designation F3A refers to a plane designed to be a pattern plane.
Exactly. the term 3D was not even around when F3A competition started in the 70s!
First
You were FIRST!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!
Unbox, assemble & radio setup.
There, fixed the title for you……….
Now do that for 678 more videos - Thanks!
Let her build it and you be camera man , duh , she reads the manual lol
LOL - I'll ask
not first. LOL
LOL - very nice!
Why f3a , 3d is way more fun everyone in my rc club fly's f3a and try tj convince me to do it but 8 think its pretty boring cause there's no andrenalin
Both are separate disciplines. Fly the way you want to fly!
FMS is a terrible company. Bought 3 airplanes from them and everyone had issues. Look somewhere else to buy your aircraft!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but FMS has is one of the largest producers of RC planes in the world. I don't doubt they've made MANY mistakes, just like every large scale manufacturer, but I can't explain how you've had 3 bad experiences, when we've had basically none...well, maybe one - bad linkage on the SU-27 that shouldn't have failed and they replaced it, FYI... Do you get a TON of planes? We sure do.
5 FMS plane owner, no problems, love them all.
@@BrianPhillipsRCF-86 wing wiring wrong. No flap servo working. Someone color blind on the soldering line. Pitts plastic servo stripped before first flight. Viper 25 Anniversary addition, ESC DOA out of the box. Guess I am unlucky! 47 years flying and still love it. Thanks for what you do!
@@jeffdillingham2999Good for you! Enjoy!!
I remember when r/c involved balsa and spruce. This hobby has become silly.
