Great, but why only piano as instrumentation?
The event was specifically Mike Garson, David Bowie's piano player with vocal accompaniment. Watch for Mike with The Bowie Experience, that has a full band of former Bowie members.

It's an intimate song, so, I think just the piano and vocals work. Bowie/Garson did the same with "Life on Mars," on many live performances during the latter part of Bowie's career - which personally I liked better than his previous live versions w/a band. Much more feeling and emotion. What I didn't care for about this performance was Luke Spiller botching up the lyrics, especially at the song's climatic and powerful ending. Bowie's live Tokyo 1990 (Sound and Vision tour) performance of this song is my favorite - which has a band (including the magical guitar of King Crimson's Adrian Belew) and Bowie playing a 12 string.
