This video contains tons of virtual gold and maybe is the most profitable way spending 15 minutes to improve your sound! Did not find any similar yet that comes so much to the point. A lot of work to do now! Thank you so much, Joy, for sharing!
This is so helpful, trying to produce a lovely sound when playing my grade four pieces , is soo soo hard. Solviegs song is beautiful , how I wish That I could play it well, shifting of course is part of the problem. Then the tension sets in when trying so hard and one wonders whether to give up Altogether. So frustrating. You make it all look so easy.
You can do it Brenda! Give yourself enough time to adopt and adjust the movement of both hands. Sometimes, pausing to check both hand's correct position can fix many things. Happy violin playing Brenda!
Thank you so much Joy for this! It's amazing how your videos changed my way of playing just in a few months. I appreciate it so much! You are the best!
Great summary, not too hard to remember since most things I knew about. The effect that each things has and how string number or length changes things is new. Many advanced ideas like changes, joints, weight which I will not concentrate on yet, but it is nice to know. I will probably add the finger flexing which seems essential to a change you cannot hear, I am comfortable enough with the bow to add that.
this is very indepth and high level violin education. it is very Galamian like , i have been fascinated with his teaching method . thanks joy , please keep making videos, it helps me along with my weekly private lessons
Hi joy, your video was very useful, thank you very much :) I was wondering if you could do a video about the weight of the bow, how can it be trained? I know that the arm has a lot to do with it but I feel that I can't make a clear difference between a heavy and a light arm
Hi Vaga. Yes, I do give lessons in person at my studio also which is located in Toronto, Canada. For more information, please email to "topiaviolins@gmail.com". Thank you.
For long slow bows, you would need to make the bow heavier and move the Contact Point closer to the bridge. Try on an open string first. Happy practising Mukkund!
I have nearly 5 years playing violin and i think i am progressing even my teacher told me that i am doing hard pieces that he cannot do it ... But my biggest problem is that when i record myself i get confused and unable to show my real potential.. :( My question is how can a violinist overcome the fear and stress when he record himself or play in front of an audience ? And thank u 🤗🥰
Dear Amira, we all feel that way sometimes as performing in public comes with a certain level of stress. There are several things one can try which you can see from these videos. Happy trying! ua-cam.com/video/WwZdE0L5r38/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/q6wUQNdoCLY/v-deo.html
Hi Jub. Try to pause and have both hands ready then play a small section and continue in the same way. This way you can train your both hands to coordinate at the same time. Happy pracitsing!
All you need is focused practice, a good teacher and a strong drive for learning the violin. It's going to take years before we can reach virtuoso levels of playing, and even then we we'd still be looking for ways to improve. Just keep your head up high, practice daily and enjoy the learning the violin.
Hello joy! I was just wondering why my violin doesnt sound the way it used to, i adjusted the bridge a bit for my first lesson and it never resonated as beautifully anymore, the sound dies rather quickly and i wanna cry with how frustrated i am of it, any advice?
@@JoyLeeViolin i will be trying to adjust that again :)) i also contacted the luthier i got it from and he said it might need some fine tuning since the soundpost might have been moved :((

again ... a very useful video
thanks
So nice of you! Thanks!
Hi godess of melody n beauty ,i wana ask you how to play a brave or more long value note
A brave is 8 beats so you'll need a good amount of bow weight and length for the phrase you're playing.
For long slow bows, you would need to make the bow heavier and move the Contact Point closer to the bridge. Try on an open string first. Happy practising Mukkund!
Thank you always for your kind help Uriel!! :)
Very good video
Thanks for the visit!

I am so sorry to hear that Viktor. Have you tried to put the bridge back to its original position to see if the sound improves?
