She is the definitive and ultimate evil the show has seen, personally she is what Carol could have become if different circumstances arrived for her and Sophia
No matter how many times I see Alpha's entrance it'll always be badass!!! Alpha comes and switches the game up. And once again y'all great perception step in with the role reversal of Lydia's back story. Great job guys.
her hip movement is kinda sexy in that scene, to be honest :P even though they REALLY went out of their way to make her look as unattractive as possible
Most reactors I've seen immediately jump to the "Lydia's lying" conclusion when Alpha strolls up to the gates of Hilltop. You guys saw right away that Lydia really didn't expect her mom to come back for her. She expected to be left behind. Isn't that sad? This episode made Lydia one of my favorite characters. Not Judith level yet, but it really made me sympathize with poor, sweet Lydia. "I am Alpha." Everyone in Hilltop got chills down their spines at the exact same time. PS: Now look up Groucho Marx singing "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" Everybody should. Peace
Sooooo....Here's Alpha! 16:46 Yah. About that. I wish they gave us a little bit more of a backstory on Negan, when they had the chance. It's too late now, as far as I'm concerned. Alpha is a better villain because of it, I believe. I like the story of Carol's hair. Not that she needed an excuse to have short hair, but it's nice the way they explain why she'd be willing to grow it long again. She feels safe with Ezekiel...awww. 🥰 😊🌺🏝️❤️
Fun fact. The song Alpha sings; "Lydia the Tatooed Lady" first appeared in the Marx brothers movie;"At the Circus" in 1939 sung by Groucho. It became a signature Groucho Marx song.
Samantha Morton as Alpha, she is amazing, wont say say much, but everytime she is on, you cant wait to see what she will do next, she keeps you on the edge of your seat and you cant get enough, the end of this episode still creeps me out.
That walk up at the end with Alpha always gives me chills!! And Steve needs to coin the phrase, "What the sh!t!?" lol. That needs to be on a t-shirt. :-)
You two are my favorite reactors, I love the way you guys take in the information of the show and notice things that many people usually don’t. The parallel between Alpha and Carol was something I didn’t notice at first but you guys saw it instantly. Great reaction ! I can’t wait for your reactions to the rest of the show.
This was an amazing episode and gave us more backstory in one episode for the new villain than we've had in several years worth of Negan. One bit of trivia, the flashback scenes were filmed in the old Sanctuary set.
After this episode aired I felt SO bad for Lydia. I was skeptical of her at first obviously, but she's just a kid. She's supposed to be about 16 I believe. And she's been lied to her whole life by her psychotic mother. And I loved the way they did those flashback scenes through the eyes of Lydia to show how corrupted her mind truly is because of her mom. I'm glad it wasn't just an asshole father beats on his wife and daughter story again cause those are redundant and old. I mean we already had an Ed on this show XD. Also I think Daryl and Henry made a plan to let Lydia out of the cell, cause the conversation prior to him letting her out kind of hints that they are thinking about it, and Daryl was just watching to have Henry's back in case something went wrong. Great episode and great reaction as always!
Crazy twist huh.................that ALPHA was the crazy psychopath mother in the flashback and NOT the husband and father. Also, you finally have the revelation as to WHY Carol used to have the short hair. When i heard Henry tell that story i cried big tears. Because i never knew that before.
Carol always had short hair. It's who she was. But we never really wondered WHY she had short hair. That revelation was a punch in the gut. We didn't know we needed it and boy did we get it.
This has become one of my favorite episodes. Alpha is the first villain on here to give me chills in that closing scene. Wow. Even now. And I loved the writing so much. The way Lydia's memory changes over time was Hitchcock like. And the way Deryl picked up on it because of his childhood. Oh man, great writing!
So we get two actors from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - Dan Fogler (Luke) and Samantha Morton (Alpha). Also, add Samantha Morton to the list of British actors playing in this show with Southern accents. It’s interesting to see Daryl’s own background as an abuse survivor come to the forefront. He was able to use that to break through Lydia’s brainwashing at Alpha’s hands. Even in our current society, manipulation and gaslighting are such popular tactics for an abuser. This episode really illustrated Lydia’s manipulation SO well here in the way it was shot and edited together.
Beautifully done. To have such empathy for someone who we essentially just met, by having Daryl - a formerly abused person - interrogate her, was brilliant. And, yes, the editing was fantastic.
Such a well shot and well composed episode. If you've seen Minority Report, the actress who was the head pre-cog, is also Alpha. A wonderful actress. Thank you for the excellent reaction, and until next time, keep safe, and keep on keeping on.
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go oh I want to take you down to Kokomo, we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow That's where we want to go, way down in Kokomo Singing along to the intro 😂

Since they focused on Alpha's belt buckle of an Omega symbol as she approached Hilltop, I took it to mean Alpha is the beginning and the end. From Alpha to Omega.
Brianito77 alpha’s belt buckle is not an Omega symbol. It’s an infinity symbol. An Omega doesn’t look like an infinity. Plus the episode is deep and symbolic it’s not going to resemble her belt lol. Plus on New Rockstar’s breakdown they mentioned the fact that Lydia represents the Omega of the group. Her belt buckle was zoomed in on because it’s an iconic figure from the comics.
Did y'all know the Lydia oh Lydia song is paying homage to breaking bad😁 freaked when it I realized and people pointed it out to me, does anybody have confirmation from gimple or heard
I'm so glad you are both enjoying Season 9. I know many of us shared our love for seasons 9 and 10, but each viewer has to form their own opinions. It is like watching a different show at times, but still one that is exciting, compelling, with characters (old and new) that take root in their viewers hearts and minds. Do you find Rick's spirit infused throughout all the episodes? I sure did, and I'm sure that will continue into the next season. Great reactions as always! Take care!
Yeah. This episode was very quick on fleshing out Lydia and her mother Alpha. And how Alpha had to step up and make the tough choices and the father basically watched her become this monster before dying. The next few episodes are gonna be intense.
Samantha Morton, aka Alpha, was cast perfectly for this role. She executes everything so well. From her accent and the cadence of her words to the way she walks. She is Alpha. Wait til you see what she brings to the show. Ooh, I cannot wait! Have a great weekend guys ✌😜

I like that each main TWD villain has been written to be relevant to someone other than just Rick (obviously Rick isn’t here right now but it applies to past villains as well). The only antagonist that has been solely focused on Rick was Shane. After that the main antagonists all serve as a villain to both Rick (except for after the bridge obv) and someone else: • Governor: Michonne and Andrea • Gareth: Bob • Dawn: Beth • Negan: Daryl • Alpha: Carol It’s cool. It’s very refreshing to have a series where the MAIN main character isn’t the only one with huge enemies. It fleshes out the other characters as well as the villains!
Love to see when the reactor first starts to notice the role reversal. The hair is there one scene ... not there the next. Mom removed her hair ... or Dad removed his beard.
This shows how awful Alpha really is. She brainwashed and beat her own daughter into thinking that her father was the bad guy. I cant wait for you guys to really get to know this new group

Who's Omega? Omega is also Alpha. That's the symbol she was wearing on her belt buckle. The beginning and the end. When Lydia says “she’s a lot like your mom. You don’t wanna mess with her”. That’s when you know it’s about to get serious
If Alpha would be just as smart as Carol, she wouldn't be a big deal.
The British actors in this show always suprise me they do such a good job with accents lol
