I had a demo from PGA Tour 96 and PGA Tour 98 (both of them came with tons of demo games in a local game magazine) when I was 8 years old, I remember the first moments that I have played this game and I never realized that, looks like that the players on both games were made like the Mortal Kombat ones (through video captures) and after, they adapted them at the game... different from FIFA, NBA, Madden and NHL where in 96 they turned the 2d environments in 3d ones!!
"They moved the development in-house, and basically told the original creators to take a hike" WELP Looks like EA has stayed consistent as a company over the last two decades
If I was going to take a guess at what Stadler was doing, I'd say he was trying to avoid taking the one-stroke penalty for taking a drop when his ball landed under that tree, by knocking the ball into a more favorable position. Not that the officials should have *allowed* that, but still...
The only thing I remember about Off World Interceptor is that it's a competent (but not great) game, and they did MST3K style riffing on the cutscenes. I still wonder if that's because they were intended to be that way or if they realized they were so bad that they decided to save them with the riffers. Maybe you'll find that out and I'll know when the next episode drops!
Looking for a golf game I played on windows 98 or 95 and on start up a logo of Westwood studios shows with a water effect and during gameplay after hitting the ball the ball moves on the mini map lol hard to remember it’s been 20 years
what are you even doing craig? (sorry I was never into golf games on the PSX so that's all I got. :P still a great retrospective anyway you guys do such good work!)
I wonder why EA didn't just port the 3DO version over, like they did with FIFA, Road Rash and Need for Speed?
Given my love of the PS1, this to me is probably the best video series on youtube. Keep it up.

I hope this series continues.
I think Apple II Madden's face is going to haunt my dreams tonight

I had a demo of PGA Tour Golf for Mac that I played a lot as a kid. Always interesting to learn how the series evolved.
This reminded me of a game I used to love called hot shot golf...ahhh nostalgia
WTF I hate Craig Stadler now
