    Forgot to clean calipers, Copper grease on anti-squeal, use torque wrench, provide for excess fluid, etc. To reduce this problem do one side at a time and operate done brake before doing the next one. Still, I'm 72 and only been doing my own cars now, but was a motor mech before qualifying on aircraft from age 14.

    Hi , this is a great tutorial and I've just completed the pad change on my Nissan Micra K13 model thanks to you. Everything went to plan and the only trouble I had was when I was pushing back the caliper pistons. This was causing the brake fluid to overflow in the master reservoir. I had already removed the filler cap to anticipate this and had to remove the excess with a syringe to stop it dribbling everywhere.Everything is working fine now. Thanks for your help Autodoc

      @@autodocuk Once the cap is off put kitchen paper towelling around the neck to catch any excess fluid, which should be change every so many years as it is hygroscopic. Wash fluid off any paintwork.

    Brilliant tutorial video auto doc , I was wondering do you need to grease the Caliper glide bolts , if so would copper grease do the job

      "Thank you for the feedback! In general, you can use copper grease, it protects the fingers. But we recommend to use specialized lubricants for brake bolts , which can withstand high temperatures, you can purchase them from our website. Best regards, Autodoc

    While not necessary to open the reservoir cap, it is advisable to drain any excess fluid to prevent overspill when forcing the piston back in if the level was high top begin with, as remember, you'll need to also fit brakes on the other side, and the level can rise a long way. Spilling brake fluid on the paintwork in the engine bay is not a great idea.

    When you pushed the callipers pistons back did you open the brake fluid reservoir cap off?

      no

      Thank you for the feedback! Modern cars mostly are equipped with a valve in this cap and it is not necessary to poen it, but if there is no such valve, then of course, it is necessary to open the expansion tank of the brake fluid. Best regards, Autodoc.

      A good mechanic will indeed clean the old dirty parts, grease the brake pad fittings, preferably put in new bolts, torque them correctly and also put some threadlock on these. They will also check the brake piston seals en brake fluid level.

    Most mechanics use copper ease behind the pads and also on the edge where they sit , other say copper ease is not the correct grease to use. ????

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  6 років тому +1

      Thank you for ythe feedback! The copper ease well withstands temperature regimes. There is also ceramic high-temperature grease for brake pads. Best regards, Autodoc

      Or add a bit only a bit of Locking agent. They no longer come in cheaper pad kits but used to in better ones. With brakes use the best you can afford!
