I would say that Terry Gilliam is the most underrated member of Monty Python.

There are so many clever animators today but what I find missing sometimes is the story. Terry's genius is his sense of humour and use of odd.

There are people who are good at grammar, and then there are brilliant orators.
There are those who are good at animation, and then there are those like Terry Gilliam.
It's not just the grammar, it's what is being said.

Excellent tip to blacken the edges of the cutouts because it enhances the animation.

If you haven’t, check out the animations of Yuri Norstein and Francheska Yarbusova, particularly for their short Hedgehog in the Fog. Plus, there’s a 13 episode show called Adventures of Captain Vrungel (often translated as Wrongel). They all pushed cut out animation to the absolute limit.
