Mine had broke at the bottom everything was good , it was just hanging wasn’t mounted on , rubber piece has broke so I just duck tape the shit out of it to get me to the shop! Thanks for the video man!!
Dang Chase you need to steam clean your truck. It make it a lot better to work on and see problems before they get bad. Always remember that truck pays for everything else so it should come first. Thanks for sharing 👊
Whenever I steam clean it, seems like its back dirty in a week! I don't know how these guys with the shiny trucks keep em that way. I wash mine and in 3 days it rains and then its covered with road film again.
You need to pressure wash that truck. The DOT doesn't like seeing all of that grease and may search for a leak. Most of it is fifth wheel grease that is pushed of as trailers are switched but it gives inspectors a reason to look closer. Put a manual valve setup in the air line. One to shut off the air to the bags and another to drain air. Many trucks come with a valve to dump air when you unhook. The air bags usually have a rubber bumper inside that they will ride on with no air in the bags.
Have you ever experienced driveline angles being off? Shop said driveline is solid. No slop in ujoints or carrier bearing. Have what feels like a bounce even pulling empty trailer. It's MPH sensitive, not RPM. I noticed the rear most shaft looks like it's going downhill.
@@LifeWithChase thanks. Does it have to be volvo HCV, and is it just that simple swap them out and voila? Front bags I notice look like they lean forward a little. Loaded right now with 30,160 on drives my truck has 47psi in the bags, according to the dash on my 780
The engine feels like it's chugging too, best way for me to describe it. Got piss poor fuel economy too, 5.3mpg. No check engine lights or anything on the dash indicating faults in engine or trans.
@@brandondunn8397 that psi sounds about right for that weight to me. The ride height is adjustable by moving the stud in the different holes where the leveling valve rod attaches to the axle bracket. When my valve went bad it aired the bags all the way up! Had horrible vibration. Also if the leveling valve rod comes off, the suspension will deflate and will also have a bad vibration. I've had a small vibration in both my Volvos over about 72mph. I don't typically drive that fast so not a huge deal. I did raise and lower the swing bearing on my blue truck to try to change the drive shaft angle and it didn't change anything. I don't know if any other leveling valve will work, I just got the one from Volvo so I didn't have to fight it. Engine surging could be a bad egr valve or a number of other things. Best of luck...
I guess now we know the air bags can handle higher loads. What a misery when that happens. Must've been a hell of a ride. Went thru one leveling valve on my Kenworth and it was $125, but it wasn't Kenworth brand. Trucking is money in and money out.
The tail end of my cascadia sticks up My drive shaft came apart twice 3 times my u joint to the rear diff became red hot I had third axle leveled and it still gave out. Could it be I need a new leveling valve ? It seems as we have the same issue. Thank you
I bet you over the life of my 99 VNL770 I must have put four or five leveling valves in. The first being a week after I bought the truck brand new. The third one was installed at a Volo store in Georgia and when I asked if they had adjusted it upon installation they informed me that there was no adjustment, it was all automatic. I knew from experience that was a lie and sure enough, by the time I got to Carlile, PA, I had lost the front pumpkin. Volvo wanted $6,000 to rebuild it so I did it myself. With the money I saved I reclined the brakes and installed new wheel bearings, seals and shocks. I sued the Volvo store in Georgia and won. Another big problem was the steering shaft knuckle which would developed play after about 100,000 miles and require replacement. This was because you couldn't grease them. Then one of the Volvo guys told me about a heavy duty version that was grease able. For $70.00more that one lasted over a million miles
I believe any time you replace airbags you should replaced air lever too and shocks absorbs also, I did at 500 thousand miles, don’t drive straight with power divider on , will damage your differential’s, good luck
Man! Is that the best price you could get on that valve? Are they gettin that much nowadays? be cautious when you're working around those over inflated bags, I guess you've proved they can withstand quite a lot of pressure, but it could be hazardous to your heath if they blew.
Also Chase I got a next question how do you know what’s the right level for The leveling valve at the end of the tractor when you change the leveling valve is there a certain height that the frame need to be off the ground or is it just like eyeball
the manufacture has a spec usually a frame to axle measurement. I just eyeballed this though cause I know about where it should be. Too high or low and you get drive line vibration.
Wassup chase, hey so my volvo switch isn't working or communicating with the air suspension to lower the ride when I need to hook up to a trailer. What do you suggest I do? Do you think it might be a fuse?
The proper ride height is a measurement. All trucks are different depending on year, Manufacture etc. My 2013 VNL is I think 8 1/2 inches or 8 3/4 inches. You measure from the seam weld on the axle to the bottom of the Frame Rail. Check with your dealer or other resources for your proper ride height. It has been a minute since I have looked mine up too.
I don't know, but a good guess would be 3-4hrs of labor at 100 plus dollars an hr plus the shop supplies and parts and tax. If I had to guess they would have just changed the leveling valve not looked at the driveshaft and it would have fell out a week later costing you thousands. 😬

I hope this fixes my problem. I really appreciate your videos. They help a lot!

Wow, you were lucky to make it back home without serious issues!
no doubt. It was a long slow ride home LOL
I like the passion. Appreciate the video.

I have a 2007 vnl leveling valves . 3 in 500,000 miles d12 has 1,157,664 still running strong

The leveling valve is what controls the ride height. if the ride height changes so does the drive shaft angle.

You could have dropped the air out while riding. It's a pain but it keeps the drive line happy
This was helpful asf 🙌🏾💪🏾
Thanks for the video I just had same problem happen to me
Hey Shawn what’s size socket is that pinion nut on the drive shaft gotta do some thing my Volvo!
Company assigned me a truck that shakes like crazy and nobody can figure out what's wrong with it
It’s not good to lock the power divider for that long, it can burn it up..
Yep grease was my bread and butter, it did me well, Black Gold!
so my Volvo shakes when Accelerate can someone tell me why ?
its 780 2014
Bro thanks man.
Thank you for sharing your information
Been there done that
Keep on trucking

Volvo and Cummins both are very proud of their parts
I don't understand why that leveling valve was so pricey. I changed the one on my truck not long ago and it was $85.00.
I don't see why it was so expensive either. I'm guessing you don't have a Volvo if you got one for that price.
@@LifeWithChase Right. I have an IH.
Mark Brubaker my freightliner was 85$ from freightliner
Yo I just got a new one and it stills over extended. And dumping air effecting my psi while back Tyler’s are lifted . Any tips?
I paid around $80 dollars at the volvo dealer for the same leveling valve.
How high do these trucks sit with out the trailer hooked
Maybe the old dump valve got clogged since it’s facing the yoke, old grease, mud 🤷♂️

Hi Chase how you doing buddy have you ever change your crank case breather filter
this is a cm870 isx no crank case breather on those. those are on the cm871 and up I believe

What did you set the ride height to - how did you measure?
Did you find out the ride height measurements
Wassup chase, hey so my volvo switch isn't working or communicating with the air suspension to lower the ride when I need to hook up to a trailer. What do you suggest I do? Do you think it might be a fuse?
Could be fuse, switch, solenoid or bad wiring.
Hey man. Were you able to diagnose the problem with your dump switch? I have a 2008 Volvo Vnl and am having the same problem. Let me know. Thanks
Is it true that you adjust leveling rod till you get top of frame about 1in below tire surface?!
The proper ride height is a measurement. All trucks are different depending on year, Manufacture etc. My 2013 VNL is I think 8 1/2 inches or 8 3/4 inches. Looks like a lot of fun Chase :) What would a shop charge for that repair.

Did it worked after replacing that valve
I would like to know that as well. I'm having this problem right now.

The air bags should hold at least 300 psi.

Always thought heavy duty mechanics don't get hired they are sentenced 9 to 5 hard labor.
haha, anything to do with trucking is not great these days it seems.
