What are yalls thoughts on Madden 25? I would say it's the best Madden since Madden 18 (in my opinion). Also, I realize I was wrong about the new kickoff rules in the NFL, the ball has to land inside the 20 yard line, not the 30. so when I mention the "bug" at 22:20. its not a bug and the game is correct. I had the rules wrong

Dude, even when 2k5 came out, Madden had football on lock. 2k5 didn’t even out sell Madden. That should tell you something about what consumers value. I like 2k presentation way better but gameplay was never that good. All Pro 2k8 had the best gameplay. Either way 2k ain’t gonna be the solution, it wasn’t back then and the same applies now.

It was definitely better than Madden and I was a huge fan of Madden, playing since 92' when I barely understood what the hell I was doing. 2K5 beat Madden in every metric and would have killed Madden off like they did NBA Live.

Just played some 2K5 last night on my SteamDeck and man, it's unbelievable that it still has better blocking, tackling, pass trajectory and AI logic. Frostbite has ZERO business being in a football game and it's EA just being cheap AF. The Squib kick being a penalty is not a bug, it’s the new NFL rules adopted this season. The Ball has to travel in the air over the 20 yard line otherwise it’s a landing zone violation. NFL clubs have approved a new kickoff rule for the 2024 season. Its a HUGE L that they didn't integrate College 25 Road to Glory or DRAFT Class , to this years franchise as it would've justified buying both and both having the same engine and have huge replay value. Their a billion dollar company there is no excuses to it. The gameplay has better replays than College football but not by much, but honestly every thing around it feels so soulless. The past maddens from ps2-ps3 , when picking a fav team, we saw the pictures of legends in the menu and that helped with immersing ourselves into the game and the full NFL exp. But they've just hid all legendary and older players to MUT so they cant do any of that. Even getting drafted to a team, there was no video of the history of said team, no how they did past season. At the moment its all soulless and lacks alot of character.
You can draft your RTG player to Superstar mode. The draft class I guess is a legal issue. They had to generate random players to export to Madden, no point really. Unless College football players sign some type of agreement to be in Madden (even the ones that don’t make the NFL) draft class will probably never happen again.

@@RyZeSnipez1 you can still create a player but yes player mode is gone. That has pretty much ruined it for me. Superstar mode is garbage. If they would allow a slow sim option so you could watch the game unfold when you’re off the field it might be passable.
Loving the video format and how its edited. I love that you can actually have a thought longer than 1 sentence and then not have to cut the audio to splice in the next sentence. I cannot stand so many current creators wheres is a 10 minute video of yelled single sentences spliced together

The coach asking his players to gameplan their opponent for the week is laughable 😂😂😂😂 PS2 maddens just laid the stats in front of you, as well as a scouting report for every starter on the team you were facing, as well as league rankings, and even their favorite called plays right in front of your fingertips. If I was being honest I'd say that Madden is always mediocre and is something that I buy yearly out of habit and hope. I agree this is the best feeling Madden on this generation of systems and to me the first one since 21 that feels significantly different, a couple yrs ago they added Field Sense but 23 still largely felt same as 22 and 24 felt same as 24.
13:48 my favorite thing in madden/ncaa 11 was creating recruits and then being able to export them to madden from dynasty. It was just a whole different level of depth
I remember a Madden that had newspaper articles to read in between weeks in Franchise mode...and retired players coming back as coaches. They should just use really good AI for the commentary at this stage, then we could always have fresh sounding ones...

True, but this is supposed to be the only NFL sim game. The point of this game is to make you feel like you’re a head coach/owner/player. It does nothing like that. Idk if you’re just a new gamer, but this only applies to some games, like arcade based games. Madden is supposed to be sim football, yet can’t even simulate football. It’s so glitchy lots of the time and blockers are dumb. People look at other features so much because gameplay has been so bad in recent years, the other game modes only scratch the surface of what people “complain” about.

Regarding your corner sitting on the hitch and your safety running with the slot wr deep, there are some cover 3 match concepts in which that is supposed to happen. So in this case Madden might have actually got it right.

Yes, this game is still lacking, but in my opinion, it has improved slightly. My only problem with it, for the most part, is why is it when the opposing team punch the ball, via the computer, I don't have a chance to run the ball back hardly ever. They simply run away from blocking them in and next thing I know there are four guys on me and I have no chance for returning. I win games that's not a problem, but I would like to have some returns on it. I play On All-Star difficulty I was able to take one all the way back, but when I play on Pro level, soon as I receive the ball on a punch, they are right there and I had no chance to get away and this has been an issue for years now I don't get it.
I bought the physical copy of Madden 23 only because I wanted the commemorative case that it came in to honor John. Before that I hadn't bought it since 17 and that's only because there was a good sale on it. Before that it was the last truly great Madden, which was 12. I still play it on occasion on my PS3. Graphics are decent considering it's a 13 year old game on a 2 generation old console. I'll play it until my PS3 dies lol

Just played some 2K5 last night on my SteamDeck and man, it's unbelievable that it still has better blocking, tackling, pass trajectory and AI logic. Frostbite has ZERO business being in a football game and it's EA just being cheap AF. God, I hate EA with a passion and hope one day, the NFL finally drops the exclusive license with this soulless, evil company.

The Squib kick being a penalty is not a bug, it’s the new NFL rules adopted this season. The Ball has to travel in the air over the 20 yard line otherwise it’s a landing zone violation.
NFL clubs have approved a new kickoff rule for the 2024 season.
The ball is kicked from the A35 yard line (same as current rule)
Safety kicks would be from A20 yard line (same as current rule)
ALIGNMENT
All kicking team players other than the kicker will line up with one foot on the receiving team’s B40 yard line
Kicker cannot cross the 50-yard line until ball touches the ground or player in landing zone or end zone
The 10 kicking team players cannot move until the ball hits the ground or player in the landing zone or the end zone
The receiving team will line up as follows:
Setup Zone - a 5-yard area from the B35 to the B30 yard line where at least 9 receiving team players must line up
At least 7 players with foot on the B35 yard line (restraining line) with alignment requirements (outside numbers, numbers to hashes, and inside hashes)
Players not on the restraining line must be lined up in setup zone outside the hash marks
All players in the setup zone cannot move until the kick has hit the ground or a player in the landing zone or the end zone
A maximum of 2 returners may line up in the landing zone and can move at any time prior to, or during, the kick
LANDING ZONE
Landing zone is the area between the receiving team’s goal line and its 20-yard line.
Any kick that hits short of the landing zone - treated like kickoff out of bounds and ball spotted at B40 yard line; play would be blown dead as soon as kick lands short of the landing zone
Any kick that hits in the landing zone - must be returned
Any kick that hits in the landing zone and then goes into the end zone - must be returned or downed by receiving team - if downed then touchback to B20 yard line
Kick hits in end zone, stays inbounds - returned or downed - if downed then touchback to B30 yard line
Any kick that goes out of the back of the end zone (in the air or bounces) - touchback to B30 yard line
MISCELLANEOUS
If conditions cause ball to fall off tee twice, then kicker will be allowed to use kicking stick to keep the ball in place. The closest covering official will pick up the stick immediately after the kick
Onside kick:
4th quarter begins, the team trailing has the opportunity to declare an onside kick to the officials
Current onside kickoff rules would apply. If onside kick goes beyond the setup zone untouched, kicking team penalized for UNS; return team would start the drive at the A20 yard line
Penalties:
The setup zone and landing zone will not change with any penalties that carry over to kickoffs. Alignment of 10 kickoff team players and all receiving team players would not change - only the spot of the kick would move
Penalties on scoring plays will not carry over and will be taken on the Try
Penalties on the Try may carry over, and if they do, only the placement of the kicker will change
Safety Kick:
The kick will be from the 20-yard line, and the kicker will have the option to use a tee; the setup zone and the landing zone will not change

What blows my mind is EA removing your stream after you purchase the trial and stream it. Ea just has to be the worse company every year in America. They just cant accept being second to last once....Nope not Andrew, have to be the best at being the worse.
Its a HUGE L that they didn't integrate College 25 Road to Glory or DRAFT Class , to this years franchise as it would've justified buying both and both having the same engine and have huge replay value. Their a billion dollar company there is no excuses to it.
The gameplay has better replays than College football but not by much, but honestly every thing around it feels so soulless. The past maddens from ps2-ps3 , when picking a fav team, we saw the pictures of legends in the menu and that helped with immersing ourselves into the game and the full NFL exp. But they've just hid all legendary and older players to MUT so they cant do any of that. Even getting drafted to a team, there was no video of the history of said team, no how they did past season. At the moment its all soulless and lacks alot of character.
You can draft your RTG player to Superstar mode. The draft class I guess is a legal issue. They had to generate random players to export to Madden, no point really. Unless College football players sign some type of agreement to be in Madden (even the ones that don’t make the NFL) draft class will probably never happen again.

@@RyZeSnipez1 you can still create a player but yes player mode is gone. That has pretty much ruined it for me. Superstar mode is garbage. If they would allow a slow sim option so you could watch the game unfold when you’re off the field it might be passable.
Loving the video format and how its edited. I love that you can actually have a thought longer than 1 sentence and then not have to cut the audio to splice in the next sentence. I cannot stand so many current creators wheres is a 10 minute video of yelled single sentences spliced together

The squib kick isn’t a bug. The new kickoff rule says you have to kick the ball in the landing zone (the green highlighted part of the field) or it’s a penalty on the kicking team 21:57

If I was being honest I'd say that Madden is always mediocre and is something that I buy yearly out of habit and hope. I agree this is the best feeling Madden on this generation of systems and to me the first one since 21 that feels significantly different, a couple yrs ago they added Field Sense but 23 still largely felt same as 22 and 24 felt same as 24.

I remember a Madden that had newspaper articles to read in between weeks in Franchise mode...and retired players coming back as coaches. They should just use really good AI for the commentary at this stage, then we could always have fresh sounding ones...
Madden felt more fun when it was simpler. Even the 90s games were more fun.

Great review. I'm not a madden guy, and I long for the days of multiple developers for NFL games, particularly 2K, of course. But it's been a few years since I got a Madden, and the updates (animations, equipment) look good, and fun (enough) ... even though the AI is still dumb as a rock. I think I am going to bite, think there's enough fun to be had here👍

All I care is gameplay! Modes,music,story or commentary are just not important and gameplay is good thats what's important and the animations are actually good this year
and that's perfect! thats why I rate the games the way I do because we all have different expectations and wants. not everyone wants life-like presentation. and some people dont care about gameplay they care about the management side of the game. I know the review is long but I want to cover everything because someone like you might see it and say ya know the gameplay is good and thats all I need.
True, but this is supposed to be the only NFL sim game. The point of this game is to make you feel like you’re a head coach/owner/player. It does nothing like that. Idk if you’re just a new gamer, but this only applies to some games, like arcade based games. Madden is supposed to be sim football, yet can’t even simulate football. It’s so glitchy lots of the time and blockers are dumb. People look at other features so much because gameplay has been so bad in recent years, the other game modes only scratch the surface of what people “complain” about.

Yes, this game is still lacking, but in my opinion, it has improved slightly. My only problem with it, for the most part, is why is it when the opposing team punch the ball, via the computer, I don't have a chance to run the ball back hardly ever. They simply run away from blocking them in and next thing I know there are four guys on me and I have no chance for returning. I win games that's not a problem, but I would like to have some returns on it. I play On All-Star difficulty I was able to take one all the way back, but when I play on Pro level, soon as I receive the ball on a punch, they are right there and I had no chance to get away and this has been an issue for years now I don't get it.

I bought the physical copy of Madden 23 only because I wanted the commemorative case that it came in to honor John. Before that I hadn't bought it since 17 and that's only because there was a good sale on it. Before that it was the last truly great Madden, which was 12. I still play it on occasion on my PS3. Graphics are decent considering it's a 13 year old game on a 2 generation old console. I'll play it until my PS3 dies lol
