It’s really comforting to watch talented and well established artists also struggle a little with their mediums! Gives us beginners a look at the fact that not everything is going to be perfect, and that it’s okay for it not to be!! ♡
I've never worked with this clay before, but I have worked with other air dry clays before that go sticky with water. The secret for those clays is to use mineral oil to smooth the clay. Maybe try that?
Augh I'm sorry you had such a rough time! It was nice to see you figure things out and show how you coped with everything. It turned out great!!! (In my limited experience with air dry clay, I honestly just get things as close as possible and sand and carve it afterwards haha!)
Maybe once the first model has hardened, you could sand the imperfections away. It might work 🤔 Love the final model. Especially when you choose to colour each tail individually.❤❤❤
@caryscuttlefish I think you are being too hard on yourself. Once sanded and painted etc.. It would look good. (I do think you would need to change your design or continue using other clay). I don't know how the other artists used that clay! Total nightmare to pull bits off etc.. I can't imagine trying to make the feet and tails with that clay. I think you made the right choice by going back to the polymer clay.
You so seriously need a hug. 🤗 It did end up looking rather cute. I have no answer for the air dry clay. I've only used polymer clay and red ceramic clay. Neither turn into chewing gum when handled.
I'm watching this with my 5yo and when you started paiting she said "ahw this is cute" 🤭 and as soon as I paused the video for a second she got angry with me telling me to keep the video going 😂 so you've done everything right 🥰🎉 Greetings from Germany 🤗 ps: this is where those awesome Bat shaped gummies from Haribo come from originally 😁
Dang, I am amazed at your resilience! I would've given up completely, but the way you took it and said, "okay, this isnt going well with the new thing. Lets still do it with what I know." 10/10 that was really inspiring.

I love your art, you're one of my all time favorite art youtubers I'm always so excited to see you've posted a video, and you and your husband are such an adorable couple.
Sadly I don't know anything about air dry clay, but please don't give up on Barlet! Maybe you could use him as a Frankenstein inspired piece. Like little bits of everything made him?
What a cutie!! The flowers worked so so well, looks so beautiful! Very inspiring watching you come back to the project after feeling so negative, then getting to an end product you love! Thank you for such a wonderful video
Air dry clay is hard to get used to. In HS I was obsessed with Sculpy and when I decided to start my channel I underestimated how difficult air dry clay is to use! Ppl suggest using water like you did but it is definitely a slippery slope! Also air dry clay separates in the packaging if you leave it for a while. You can mix it back together but it so messy to do!
The final result is precious. What do you do with these larger pieces you make? Do you sell them? Find them a place somewhere in your home? Give them to friends?
Adorable as always! I love watching your process, your commentary never fails to make me laugh- sidenote: I have so much issue with those types of seals too, violence is always necessary for such things.
I love your creations ❤️ U should do a random video on sculpting something using all the already baked & failed pieces. (If u saved them.) That would be a interesting creation creature video. 😊
When baking designs that may be more frail than others you could try putting tin foil around or under maybe beside those frail pieces that you’re worried about. Btw love your content and art ❤
I saw the new video posted and I couldn’t wait. It’s OK I’ll just put my phone under my desk and hide my AirPods with my hair and my boss will never know 😅❤
So I'm crafting while watching this, and I've had to restart my project 3 times.....I keep messing it up...but I'm powering through....after taking a break to get inspired by your vid :)❤

Ah yes, air dry clay. Let’s first get something on the table, I LOVE YOUR WORK. KEEP GOING. And second, I actually do claywork, and I use air dry clay! I saw when you added water to it, and goodness, I thought of my past. I sometimes use water to make things stick better, or when my clay gets dry to wet it up again. As for tips, don’t use too much water, and to make things REALLY smooth, (specifically cones, rods, or spheres,) keep rolling the clay in your hands as you form the shape. One thing I have learned is to make ABSOLUTE SURE you know where your gonna place one piece onto another, for once you put it on there, there is no going back. I was also wondering if one day you could do some space stuff? Like some cute starts and planets! Anyway, that’s all I got, and keep making your awesome work! :)
@@caryscuttlefishYIPPEE IM SO HAPPY YOU POSTED!! Also, you should try to use modeling clay if ya want to for the next vid,you could make little ✨behbeh✨ dragons! I recommend making a fruit dragon. I've made some really Neat looking masks with air dry foam It just takes some time To get used to it, but sometimes it's better to open it and then let it sit. Because sometimes it can be kind of sticky. But water is always the way and sometimes it's better just to let it mostly dry and then take a little bit and run it over the spot. You wanna fill in. And gloves are a bad idea. I've never been able to find any plastic that didn't stick to it. I'm pretty sure it's just something in the gloves.
I may give my Amigrumi scarfs when there heads don t connect right.👀😄 And been known not to follow patterns exactly. It's totally not because I can't get a pattern to work... not at all.😛
