“Route setter basically had to choose, either set a hard final where your eight to four best climbers wont top anything, or set a easier final, and watch janja flow up all of your boulders like she wasnt really trying”
It's still kind of like that. The route setters for lead have the hardest time with it, I think. Janja is quite capable (and has) topped several men's finals routes. When it comes to putting in some of the harder moves in their lead route the question is always there: what if Janja is the only one in the field that can do this and everybody else fails at that same spot?
We almost had that at the LaSportiva Legends Only in 2015. Janja vs Anna, Shauna, Jule, and Melissa. Problems much harder than normal world cup problems and Shauna went on from there to win the overall bouldering titles in 2016 and 2017 so she was it really good form. Janja won toping all 5 problems and Shauna was 2nd topping only 2 problems. This was before Janja really competed in the bouldering world cups. Anna didn't top any of the problems.
Would be really interesting to see what can she do on the real rock. Btw it would be nice to hear your thoughts about difference, potential and grades men vs woman climbers.
it's definitely not yon-yuh like Anja already said, and I'm guessing that Anja is a Slovenian like myself as well ;) That being said, it's not 'yan' exactly either (the way Ascentionism pronounces it), that's still too 'e'-ish for us. Both her 'a'-s are pronounced as "wide" 'a'-s, for example if you pronounce the word 'ardent', then the first sound that comes out of your mouth is basicaly the sound you're supposed to use. In other words, if you listen closely to how Ascentionism pronounces Janja, the SECOND 'a' sounds about right. Just replace the first one with the second one as well, they both sound the same, and you get something like.. 'yaan''yaah'
I love how everyone else seemed hyped about it too
the community spirit is so good
Rest in Peace Luce Douady! Did not expect to see her towards the end of the video.
Got in the feels a little when I saw her towards the end. Rest in peace, Luce. Thanks for the video, Janja will always be the definition goat.

One of the best to ever do it! Love Janja!
Natalia did not flash every boulder at SLC, but she did top all of them :)
No she didn't top the 3rd boulder of the semi-final of the 2nd SLC WC, Brooke was the only one to top this one 😉
Janja might just be the the greatest athlete ever
G.O.A.T
This is awesome. I love your videos :)
Janja is insane
whats countback
When two climbers have the exact same score they look at their position in the qualifiers
Like she wasn't already?
You pronounce her name wrong.
Imagine a season of Janja and prime Anna Stohr.
Anna Stohr with todays training methods could definitely be a force to be reconned with.

She onsighted two 8cs in Oliana last month or so. So there's that...
She's climbed 9a and onsighted two 8c in two days. No doubt she'll climb V15 and 9b+ when she tires of competition.
@@pierrez8570 "If" she tires of competition. It would be amazing to see though.
Her name is pronounced yon-yuh not yan-yuh
Seriously lol I'm glad it wasn't just me
It's not, her name is pronounced Yanya, but the voice for "a" isn't the same as in English.
@@anjalamot3930 how is it pronounced?
@@smockytubers1188 English doesn't have an "a" pronounced the same way as we do, we call it the long wide "a"

Idk dude maybe don't make a video after you've smoked a pack? Your voice is making my eyes teary.
