We need texturing! Also, this format is far superior
Grant: "Nice and simple. Nothing complicated."
The rest of us: "Sure."
I was sculpting a dragon head right now. Perfect timing.
@Shashika Danasekara he's reading our minds
I was just watching a series about dragons when the video came. This is not just perfect timing this is a miracle
@@mamdohbammm6980 true
I tried making dragon but it looks like a potato :(
Exact same here
45 minutes for Grant = 1 day for me :) You make it look so easy! Awesome series :D !!!
I would very much like to see a retopology as well as texturing tutorial. I did like this new format it works well with sculpting because your still clearly stating what you are doing but its also easy to see and doesnt require knowing a buncb of shortcut keys unlike something like building a scene or something
Litt Whitt today is your lucky day, bud
I really like what you've done here and will definitely be giving this a go - although what took you 45 minutes will take me a week surely.
As for video style - I like the slower style always, but having said that, I think you have got the balance here just right (but I'll know better when I begin following along a little later).
This format is much better!!! Epic video mate - Your multitude of sculpting videos is much appreciated!
Retopology as well as texturing tutorial would be amazing to see also! And this format is great! Thanks for the amazing video, looking forward to seeing more.
Never thought I would be able to make something like this, thank you for making such great sculpting tutorials!
Loving these sculpting videos!
Those texture brushes are super cool, seems like the sort of sculpt tool you could apply to just about any model for some added detail.
I'd also be interested in seeing how you'd animate this i feel like that'd be interesting to see
really enjoyed watching this. ive done a fair bit of sculpting in the past, and in the process of reteaching myself.
I just started to learn how to use blender, watching 100's of tutorials and videos... didn't help. But this one helped SO MUCH!! Thank you for making this video! :)
this sphere went from ball to dragon what an absolute growth O-O
Still working through the back catalogue looking forward to trying this
gabbit : have fun with the alphas
me : ya I guess I can also do crazy stuff
my pc: ohhh what did i hear?dont mind if i do....
ohh crap
Omg you're doing God's work🙏 thank you soooo muchhhh for all of your tutorial and keep making them😭 they've helped me so much. I didn't start with the classic donut because of you 👍👍👍
hi there grant! thanks so much for doing these tutorials. they have really helped me out. good quality too, edits where edits are needed, very clear english, well set out. not just this tutorial bot all your others as well.
Yes finally, a good tutorial on sculpting
such an awesome tutorial. Love this!
Never have I seen someone use the Draw brush this much, truly under-rated. In regards to this style or follow along. I'd say a bit of both. Personally I am not going to make a dragon but the gnome is something that I definitely did, but still learned a lot from this video too. So I would say a bit of both would be ideal.
I was working on a lizard sculpture just a few minutes ago! What a coincidence lol
I'm really excited to start working on this, been working on your character course too and this would be such good practice
Great presentation, great result! Thanks for the video.
Thank you sir, your tutorials are easy to follow, you are one of the main reason I decided to learn blender sculpting, 👍🙏
a video showing the model's retopology would be very interesting
Really enjoyed this, thanks Grant.
I don't think a step-by-step would work on something complex like this. It's more a case of using some artistic style and creativity to create the "right" or rather "intended" shapes/creatures/characters. But I do really enjoy you showing us your workflow and how you go from basic shape to an impressive dragon.
Thats oke heck of a sculpt there, Really cool work!!
Great vid Grant, really enjoyed the faster pace and learnt a lot. My old wooden pc doesn't share my enthusiasm but well worth it. Thanks mate!
Ok those custom brushes are really useful, GREAT video(at first i thought it was a follow along and got ready to sculpt)
Thank you so much! I'm just getting into blender and this was very informative.
Aw my word. This is looking bloody cool! I was working on rigging my 3D character model but I might want to try this one first instead....
Everything about this video is perfect, love the format and info. Please do cover texturing, i'd really love to know how shaders and/or UVs interact with multiresolution and with alpha brushes.
That's amazing!
Its so good, that this could be a dragon in a film/movie 🌩
Looks awesome !!
“I won’t be talking about controls”
Also : When you press ctrl it inverses the brush, that’s the same for any brush
i meant basic controls like how to go into the sculpting workspace...
creative as always
Amazing tutorial, thanks!
One thing no one ever seems to mention with multires modifiers: Be careful if you intend to use shape keys with your model; multires modifiers do NOT work with shape keys. If you intend to use your model for animating or posing and you want to use shape keys, and you do any sculpting on your multires modifier, make sure you apply multires and retopologize first!
Can' wait to make this.❤
thanks a lot for all the work you do and share!!
Awesome video grant thanks for taking the time :D
This format is so nice ❤ from Nigeria!
Yes! Texturing and baking would be fun!
I bought your character creation course!
About to start it when I get the time!
I love how this comes out just after I finished my big dragon sculpt.
I would say there are some structural problems anatomically wise that makes it look a little.. odd? Like how the lower end of the skull, the throat area should connect to the neck and stuff like that. As well as more structure to the lower jaw. Other than that this looks great!
I'm enjoying the format and I'd love a texturing video.
Thank you for making the tutorial
Thank you for all that you do for the still-learning members of the Blender community, Mr. Abbitt. I would personally love to see a video on texturing for this, along with retopology myself. Also, if you're ever up for suggestions for a sculpt in something similar to this, I think a werewolf upper body/head or bust would be really interesting. Perhaps even moreso with Halloween on the approach. But either way, thanks again for all of the video lessons and tutorials.
werewolf upper body sounds fun
Great video once again, Grant. I am going to enjoy this one. Wish me luck :)
Merci beaucoup Monsieur Grant Abbitt
im glad you made this. i gonna use the head for a Tensegrity structure that I'm going to 3d print. like I'm making a dragon that is flying. thank you for this kind of work and tutorials :)
This was a banger
This is perfect!
I loved the video. I prefer this new video format as you go on and explain your methods. And please make a texturing video as I am not very good at it. And thank you for these amazing tutorials 😄😄
Wooow! Man, that's cool!
thank you for those abbitt! please more tutorials on modelling for beginner to intermidiate level
Amazing man!!
As always an excellent tutorial...please consider trying to make the rest of it as well :)
I would gladly watch retopology video. Thanks for tutorial!
VERY helpful, thank you sir
I thinkI found my next project! Thanks a lot!
Grant you work is amazing. Every single video you have its unbelievable. I bought your course and im happy to start it. Please make a coloring, retopology video for this dragon head. Keep up the great work.
Awesome, thank you!
i like both formats keep it up :D
I have noticed, I lack imagination when I start sculpting :D
look at different references
The best advice I've gotten from a friend of mine who's a 2D artist is to build a mental museum by redrawing others works then working on combining different elements from memory because they will likely never come out the same as the first drawing and will show more of your style then when you are imagining later you have something to call back to in your memory and it will show even more of your style.
I am naturally creative (way to much) so I have no problem :D
@@grabbitt What size was your starting sphere - I know it might sound a silly question - but I'm trying to use your brush size as general reference (I'm so nooby) - and starting sphere size becomes relevant.
@@Josabooba its the default sculpt start file. so file/new/sculpt
It would be interesting to see a retopology of this model as it is very different from most other retopology videos.
Amazing, newer thought that sculpt would be so esy!
I successfully got a smooth subdivided sphere! After 17 years of using Blender, I got a smooth subdivided sphere! I think in another few thousand years, I might get a blob that vaguely resembles a dragon head.
I would LOVE a retopology video, one of those things I still feel a bit lost in with the sculpting wrokflow. Would love to see manual retopo of this!
Thanks so much i am learning to 3d print and this is very helpful you taught me to use pretty much almost all the tools thanks
I hope you don't mind I'll make a video about me finishing up my dragon head and I'll give you credits where I learned and such
Oh nice! I realized I'm already mostly doing things the same as you, except I've never tried making seperate sub-objects like the teeth, and i'm only just getting into using multires detail sculpting (so far only after retopo) and still need to get alpha brushes. I would love to see your complex object retopo too ^^
very useful tutorial, thank you very much sir.
Ohhhh...ahhh Grant's back in my recommendations!!! Looks awesome man, love the style
Edit: I use relative detail...constant messes me up...I've tried
format is great! Just started with sculpting and realized follow along tutorials is just not practical for this as it's always going to end up very different anyways. But quick insight into the process and tool use like this is very useful! Rigging, texturing and shading and such could be follow along though
Amazing !!!!
Would love to see a texturing and if this can be baked out as a normal on a low poly version of this model.
Would you please do some videos explaining different modifers? I really want to know what they all do and you're the only teacher I've found so far that I like.
Oh shi- no time to wait, I need my dragon training on sculpting
Gonna try my best, here goes!
This format is great. I would like to see a retypo tutorial.
Texturing and retopo video would be great!
Wanted this 4 years
Thank you again Grant, I'd really like to see how you would retopo it before texturing
It would be great to have a texturing and retoplogy video for this awesome sculpt
Yes to both retopology and texturing this sculpt
Timelapse with commentary is always better. And would definitely love a texturing and retopology vid.
Also, why do we need to retopologize? Can we not just rig the sculpt directly, and Why do UV unwrap the sculpt for texturing, and not directly start painting. I guess these are dumb questions but I couldn't find much light on it on the internet
Perfect
Great grannt
me: oh sweet I'm gonna give this a go
Computer: dude... no
Me: alright, nearly there aaaand
Computer: 2.8 million verts.. guess I'll die now
Yes...the struggle is real...
Maybe you could try using decimate to reduce the verts count :0
@@Lhamaramachannel had 6milions but now got 1, Use Decimate
nice grant this video is awesome i would like a retopology video and texturing also
UA-cam algorithm juice comment to boost views and stick it to the UA-cam higher-ups!
Also nice work as always Grant. Legend.
great video
Your tutorials are amazing and so helpful! Is there any chance you can do a slow and more in depth tutorial on how to do the teeth and maybe claws too? (for beginners) Thank you so much for all the tutorials!
Perfect.
Please do a retopology tutorial for this model 🙏✨ great video as always!
Thank you!
We need retopology and texturing
insanity
Thanks!
Please do texturing video.
i learned the most out from your videos.
you da best 😊
Awesome video. Cant say if I prefer the follow along or the talking over the video, they both work depending on what you are going through. Though I did like that you varied the playback speed here to focus on parts that need more explanation.
this tutorial format is way better
Better than what?
@@grabbitt18:12 timelapse and little explanation format is better
that's how I like it atleast
