    I heard Frank in 1965, the sound never left my head.I am 071 now, Franks music never really leaves any body's head untouched.
    P. S.with music he gave his life. Thanks Frank, R.L.D

      Linda DeBrabant I was born in 66 but in 76 when my uncle who was just 6 year older came to live with us introduced me to Zappa. It never leaves you.

      I saw the Mothers at the aFillmore East when I was 15 yo. Stuck with me my entire life. Coolest compliment I ever got on my own music was a review in Billboard that used the phrase, “..plus a few Frank Zappa-inspired surprises thrown in.”

    The deep, existential dread that exudes from this track refuses to die, as each generation encounters the realisation anew.

    Awesome stuff! I first heard this in 8th grade in the late 80s. When corporate pop artists were flooding the airwaves with Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. I said to myself "there's gotta be something better than this". A week later a guy in my science class was writing the Mothers of Invention logo on his notebook. I asked giggling "who are they?" He said "give me a blank cassette and I will show you." Intrigued, gave it to him the next day a week later I got it back. Hurried home to listen to it on my walkman to be safe. I was hooked! Couldn't believe the creativity, balls and genius Frank had. Blew the one dimensional transparent top 40 artists out of the water!!!

      Did you ever see the Doors at the Whiskey a Go Go? I would have loved to see them in middle '66 when they were the house band. Hell, I would have loved to be at the London Fog while they were growing into something indefinable. I saw the Mothers three times (Fillmore, Winterland and the San Carlos theatre) ...the one where the stage went around in circles.

    • @Babyboss65
      @Babyboss65 5 років тому +5

      I am definitely the first one to tell you The Beatles were overrated, but reducing them to Yellow Submarine is kind of unfair. In the same year, they also put out songs like Rain, Eleanor Rigby, or Tomorrow Never Knows. Of course, they were still very much behind what guys like Frank Zappa or Brian Wilson were doing, but they were definitely further than Yellow Submarine.

    • @Yngsatchvai

    • @Babyboss65

      @Yngsatchvai ...which means a lot of people like them. Cool. Popularity does not equal or even relate to quality. By that logic, Bon Jovi would be a far greater band than, say, Van der Graaf Generator.
