  • Steven Douglas Corp., a FANUC Authorized System Integrator, has developed an innovative solution for assembly and process automation. This system leverages automatic tooling changeover to enhance efficiency and productivity.
    How the System Works:
At the heart of this solution lies robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT). EOAT refers to any device or attachment that can be affixed to a robot’s arm. From grippers and suction cups to specialized sensors and cameras, EOAT enables robots to perform a wide range of tasks seamlessly. In this case, the system utilizes the FANUC R-200iC/270F, a powerful robot capable of handling multiple large parts simultaneously. Three customized robotic end-of-arm tooling attachments have been designed to precisely fit the various components used at different stages of the machine process.
    Key Benefits:
    - Versatility: The system accommodates various EOAT shapes, sizes, and configurations, allowing it to adapt to diverse manufacturing needs.
    - Efficient Changeovers: Rapid tooling changeovers minimize downtime, ensuring continuous production flow.
    - Cost-Effective: By automating the tool change process, the system reduces reliance on manual labor and streamlines operations.
    - Compact Design: The small footprint of the system optimizes floor space in the production environment.
    FANUC R-200iC/270F
The R-2000iC/270F industrial robot follows on from the 2000iB/250F, adding an additional 20 kgs of payload and 455mm of reach to the package. This makes it by far the strongest robot in the R-2000 range. Sitting within a relatively small footprint, its design makes best use of space in crowded factory environments. On spot welding applications, its strength, compactness and speed come to the fore. It will, however, also handle a wide range of additional manufacturing and palletizing processes.

Great demonstration of the versatility! One comment is that the text on the side was a little small for reading on a phone screen.
