Bought my 1st Jackson last summer after wanting one for only 25 years or so. I love mine. You have the pro. Kirk Hammet still plays his live to this day....
I bought mine in 1992 when I was 16, the retail price was 1400, I saved up money, washing dishes,, it has the horrible warbird paintjob that nobody wanted so the price dropped to 1000, I bought it, put stickers on it, and still play it to this day, I still love it
I have been playing Jackson guitars for over 20 years. I have been fairly impressed with the Pro series that have come out in the last couple years. I just got a Indonesian made Pro and besides some slight cosmetic issues it is a fantastic guitar. For the the cost of a USA model I would expect no cosmetic flaws of any kind.
I have owned a snow white with black bevels since 2008. It is a beast. Also now worth more than the 960 GBP I paid for it since Fender bought Jackson (2nd hand mint). What a guitar!
Hit and miss with Jacksons. Had a RR1 as well, same problems here. Stock pickups didn't cut it so I installed EMGs too. Had to be extra careful when putting it and taking it out of the case so I wouldn't scratch that extra long wing. The high E had fret buzz that I was never able to get rid of and I also noticed that the Floyd nut was scratched up and filed down straight from the factory. I ended up selling it years later. On the other hand I bought a USA Kelly that seems to be perfect. I only had to change the pups to SD Blackouts for more juice but the neck plays like a dream.
@@ryanbazail My mole-mistake then. But RR1 is nice guitar especially with String through bridge. I still prefer my KE2 though, it has better neck profile IMO.
Bought my 1st Rhodes in 95...pawn shop SCORE!!! $450. Turns out to be a prototype (from custom shop) for the higher end MiJ "Professional". Pearl white w/ black bevels...off-white binding...neck through...Jackson active pickups...MoP inlays and logo. I later bought a USA RR1. While it is a GREAT guitar, it didn't feel as "beefy" as the one I had. Different wood, I suppose. Sold the RR1. I've also had a USA King V....and the higher end(neck through) "Demmelition" KV. Also sold the USA, in favor of the "Demmel".
I still have my black, jackson rhoads I bought in the 80's. Has a volume knob, and a 3-way toggle switch. The floyd rose is different from the new one. The case that it came with is a full rectangle case. With all my guitars, some costing as much as $7,000, it's playability, lightweight, and body design still makes it my favorite guitar. Even my custom, 3 pickup, 10 top prs, doesn't have the attraction of my jackson sharkfin, like we used to call them. I've been thinking of checking out the new usa models, to see if it feels the same or not ? If so, I'll get one.
@@30pieceofsilver Not as heavy as my PRS and case, but the Jackson case is built to take more punishment. PRS still builds their cases in the old style. Gibson’s leather cases are pretty easy to mess up. I always liked the durability of that Jackson case.

hi. I just purchased my 2nd USA RR1. In my opinion They are ok. I buy them used always. If you haven't tried a RRXMG you should. you will be surprised. Nice guitar man! I had a 2006 RR1 with gold bevels. Mine had the same appointments yours did and that thing was flawless. One thing that I was shocked with is how dark/warm the guitar felt and sounded, it was warmer than my les paul, weirdest thing lol (it wasnt a bad thing at all ) Also the case that I got included with mine was a full oversized size case, like a giant keyboard case it was ridiculous, I can't remember if it was form fitted or not. Well about 2 years after I accidentally chipped the upper horn hard and I was always super careful about my instruments, and I was too scared to ever play it again and sat in my closet for 2 years and ended up trading it sadly.
I have a 2008 RR1 in Cobalt Blue finish. Yes you're right, you do pay for the decorative features such as mother of pearl shark fin inlays and mother of pearl Jackson headstock logo, but you also pay for a more comfortable neck and better fret work than an Indonesian made Jackson Pro model. Although the early 90s Jackson Professional neck thu models that were made in Japan pretty much up to par with the U.S.A Jackson models and the closest import models to the U.S.A ones. The only difference is that the Japan models are a little bit lighter in weight than the U.S.A but still a little bit heavier than the newer Indonesian made X Series or Pros or the entry level Chinese made JS series.
I have a white RR1 made in the USA that i paid over $3000 and damn do I regret it! It may look really cool and expensive looking but NOTHING on this guitar is worth the price. It plays OK; as well as my $200 Kelly. I love my Dean VMNTX that I paid only $200 for. I upgraded the hell out of it myself: oiled neck, scalloped fretboard with leveled and polished frets, SD Blackouts, and new paintjob. It looks and sounds awesome while the RR1 just sits in the back of the room under a thick layer of dust.
I don't try the new, Fender era USA Jacksons, but I have a USA Series Rhoads from '91. That's the best quality guitar I've seen ever in my life, and it's in "player" condition, not "collector". The whole guitar is unbeliveable, the neck is feel perfect (not thin, not fat, just "it's perfect"), the neck-thru is superb comfortable, the sound is huge, a real monster (original jackson J50s and JE-1200 mid-boost) and I love the compound fretboard. Only one thing is not perfect: the body shape for sitting, but if you use a short strap and resting on the left leg, it's totally useable. I love it. But mine made in the Ontario plant, not in Corona.

nice to see you still dig the 81/85 set, so many EMG haters out there now. I remember my Rhoads from the 90's, the case was huge not the new trimmed-down cases. Wish I still had it
The guitar came with the case? Because they doesn't fit all the models!! i have the RRXMG model and the guitar DOESN'T FIT, the upper wing is longer than the inner room of the case, i emailed Jackson and they answer that YES, it doesn't fit my model,so i returned it and got the Alexi Laiho ESP case, much bigger case but it does the job properly.. A KING V btw fitted perfectly in that Jackson case..check it out to be sure that fits properly and safe for the guitar.
For years I thought RR1 had 24 frets. Now I think the only notable differrence with RR5 floyd rose edition and the RR1 is the price. Having been said RR1 has the best neck a metal shredder has but rr5fr is also +1000 usd guitar having all the premium features so the neck differences might be as little as the japanese professional and american rr1 had early 90´s. Needless to say the RR1 is still most likely superior guitar and Im just jelly.
I love the Jackson Rhoads too. I sincerely hope that you removed the bridge before adjusting the action height posts, since the friction between the two can cause damage. Do you still have the PRS SE Paul Allender guitars?
neck is quarter sawn one piece very sweet. Yes alder body. If the ol 81/85 is your style then cool I would have gone with the new EMG 57/66 actives. Their tonal range is like 6x that of the 81/85. I wonder if there is enough room on the inside cut out to do the 18 volt mod? Isnt there a or wasnt there a Japanese equivalent? Last time I had a Rhoads V it was a red Charvel with a sing offset EMG in the bridge and an original Floyd put in by the previous owner. Floyds drive me up the damn wall but hey it is what it is. I remember that old Charvel had a flat 12 inch radius, rosewood, dot inlays and HUGE frets. Was one of the best playing guitars I ever had. If I get the money I am asking for my old used car maybe I will be able to afford a USA RR1...
Wow man! The 57/66 set was noisy eh? How so? I put them into my old Mexi Strat with all the super cool no solder parts and they are freaking incredible. Maybe it has something to do with the Mexi Strat being ash? Still seems to be more going on in the world of inactive pick ups right now that from what I have seen and heard on UA-cam are downright incredible. The newest Duncan inactive pick ups sound unreal. Each new Duncan bucker seems to have its own very specific tonal range and are easy to distinguish from each other. I have 3 electric guitars, 2 acoustics and 2 good tube amps. My old black Jackson DKMGT(made in Japan)has the fastest neck I have yet to play. It has Mustaine sig pick ups in it though. The Mustaines are like watered down EMG's. The 57/66 set in my ash Mexi blows them out of the water. There are not many tones that the set in my experience that the new set cannot nail down very well. Now I am all paranoid. The Jackson is(I think)alder could be basswood(?). If I get this set in my Jackson and they suck for some reason I will pull what is left of my hair out....
I am betting it was an issue with the non solder electronics. The pick ups themselves were likely just fine it sounds like at some point in EMG's non solder parts there is a bad connection. Duly noted though this is the first time I have heard of anybody having such an issue with EMG's non solder wiring system. Your 81/60 set is soldered or non soldered?

Love American guitars but at 3500 and up...out of my price range. There is a reason America priced itself out of the midrange guitar market. Imports are almost as good these days.
No doubt, bought a Mexican charvel a couple of years ago, was very impressed. I have 2 usa soloists, two Mexican Dinky's.... play the mexican so cal and Dinky's 90 percent of the time.
excellent review indeed . planning to get the same one with the pickups replaced by EMGs (like u did). And by the way, what do you think bout the Alder body ? sound too bright ? planning to have it mahogany (custom modification ) , do you think it s worth this change ? mainly for metal playing .
Randy Rhoads wanted the guitar with 22 frets because his primary guitar (les paul) had 22 frets too. It was back in the days people didn´t play so fast all the time they didn´t have time to bend the notes. Really few songs I play use the frets anyway.
Justin Birtha I have a Rhoads Pro model and I think it is so comfortable sitting down. I also have an Ibanez Prestige RG and I think the Rhoads is more comfortable both sitting and standing. It's very balanced. You just have to play it like he was at the beginning video (classical style). But it's very comfortable.
I'm trying to think if I ever even have played mine sitting besides just changing strings on the couch and bringing them up to tension??? I'm standing in ALL my thrash vids with 2 V's, hmmmm? /w\ METAL /w\
U.S. models are really no better quality. I've had 7 different Jackson guitars and you can get great quality from other countries also. And emg pickups are a little overrated. They are good high out-put they are just not really all "that much" better than regular passive pickups no way are they worth 150 a piece.
Why the fuck they are that expensive?the prices ranges are ridiculous and I tell you why.i want a 1000-1500 Jackson rr but is doesn't exist!from 900€ it goes straight up to 3600 badget Jesus fucking Christ I don't have any choices
Zikki Foxx it's so not everyone can get one, I'm waiting for mine it's been ordered 8 months ago and was just shipped I will get it In the next 2 weeks. Got the Rhoads Christian Andreu model (5k$)
Zikki Foxx lol I'm 26 work hard not crazy rich or anything I play a lot of guitar and this is gonna be my most expensive one yet. I do have as my main a Jim root strat fender moded with passive pickups ( Nazgul ), majesty 7 string, jp-6, esp Japan kh2, and the rest is from earlier playing days with a lower budget. All about priorities
Zikki Foxx to be honest though like when I ordered this guitar at steves music in Montreal Canada they weren't like WTF but it's still rare and that's probably the biggest store in Canada for guitars.

Basically dream guitar expect for the painted neck, if it had unfinished neck it would be 10/10
Whoa where is the backplate?? No cavity???
You have to take the top off
Badass guitar ! Badass shirt !
I was wondering where you would mount the battery for the active pickups in the guitar. I am interested in buying the same model.
It fits under the control plate.
you re the master !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have a fuzz pedal ? It certainly sounds like it. Cant tell if youre tone is shit or if its my speaker lolz
You should of put fishmans in that ... The kill switch set
Awesome
nice cat
Love American guitars but at 3500 and up...out of my price range. There is a reason America priced itself out of the midrange guitar market. Imports are almost as good these days.
No doubt, bought a Mexican charvel a couple of years ago, was very impressed. I have 2 usa soloists, two Mexican Dinky's.... play the mexican so cal and Dinky's 90 percent of the time.
I bought a 2018 RR3 Pro Series. Flawless guitar
How much does that guitar cost, in market ?
Nowadays its about 3.400 €
excellent review indeed . planning to get the same one with the pickups replaced by EMGs (like u did). And by the way, what do you think bout the Alder body ? sound too bright ? planning to have it mahogany (custom modification ) , do you think it s worth this change ? mainly for metal playing .
That should work. The Jackson custom shop will build it however you like. I think the guitar sounds great.
oh , by the way, what do u think of the KV2 USA ? regardless of the 24 frets ? any major difference in sound ?
I cannot say since I've not played one. I can't imagine that they're terribly different though.
azerty789100 you definitely won't have the Jackson "sharp" tone with mahogany..
but depends what music you play.
dashengquan mainly metal . Afraid alder would have brighter tone .
My dream guitar as well, I would just turn that headstock reversed.
SDMF look up Jackson Matt Tuck Randy Rhoads Signature. The best reverse RR usa you can get for the money without going custom shop!
MarkIV19 Wow True, she’s gorgeous!
Nice guitar and review
Remember the polka dot one?
If you mean the V Randy Rhoads played, it wasn't a Jackson, but a custom built by Karl Sandoval
How did you find it to play sitting down ?
It's best as a stand up guitar but you can just squeeze the lower horn between your legs when seated. You'll get used to it.
Nice guitar 🤘🤘
What Amp/distortion are you using?
This was a Randall half stack boosted with an MXR ZW OD.
@@guitarscadillacshillbillym5344 thanks!
Cool
why there are only 22 frets?! What is fucking solution for a metal guitar design?!
Randy Rhoads wanted the guitar with 22 frets because his primary guitar (les paul) had 22 frets too. It was back in the days people didn´t play so fast all the time they didn´t have time to bend the notes. Really few songs I play use the frets anyway.
How much was it?
bass londn please tell me you were kidding
I spy with my little eye a little silver and black shield. Raiders fan?
Recorded with a potato?
Hey man is it easy to play this guitar sitting down or is it different for everyone else?
Justin Birtha I have a Rhoads Pro model and I think it is so comfortable sitting down. I also have an Ibanez Prestige RG and I think the Rhoads is more comfortable both sitting and standing. It's very balanced. You just have to play it like he was at the beginning video (classical style). But it's very comfortable.
Metal Madness nah its pretty easy
I'm trying to think if I ever even have played mine sitting besides just changing strings on the couch and bringing them up to tension??? I'm standing in ALL my thrash vids with 2 V's, hmmmm? /w\ METAL /w\
I have been playing mine sitting down for about 5 months. I don't even know where my strap is anymore.
Very comfortable.
That case issue is definitively a fuk up. Kinda sucks.
this is a usa model soo.. body and neck is 1 peace MAHOGANY
It's a neck through construction, it's not all one piece of wood lol
ok 2 peace mahogany
Maple neck and alder body is the standard for so many years.
U.S. models are really no better quality. I've had 7 different Jackson guitars and you can get great quality from other countries also. And emg pickups are a little overrated. They are good high out-put they are just not really all "that much" better than regular passive pickups no way are they worth 150 a piece.
the tone knob is absolutely the most useless knob on a guitar
Why the fuck they are that expensive?the prices ranges are ridiculous and I tell you why.i want a 1000-1500 Jackson rr but is doesn't exist!from 900€ it goes straight up to 3600 badget Jesus fucking Christ I don't have any choices
You can get a good pre-owned RR1 for around $1500.
Zikki Foxx it's so not everyone can get one, I'm waiting for mine it's been ordered 8 months ago and was just shipped I will get it In the next 2 weeks. Got the Rhoads Christian Andreu model (5k$)
Will Vaughn 6.3 dude are you all shitting money?
First of all young man shame on you for buying this is baaaaad assssss sinning machine Repent!!!!! lol ok keep it God forgives you !
