bought my 2012 almost a year ago now - first big bike after a 20 year break. I had a CBR600 and Fireblade before but didn’t miss the extra power. You get on it and ride - no fuss, no gizmos, just nice v twin torque. Every time I think I ‘need’ more power and modes and a TFT screen I ride it and am happy. Old bikes never die 😏
I’ve just picked a new one up this morning, gorgeous grey colour will never sell it. I’m already head over heels so I know the connection you mention. Dan you uplift me with your humour a natural entertainer you are. Keep the faith. Paul
sold my 2005 model 6 months ago due to lack of time to ride and a scooter for commuting. Its the only bike i regret selling, it was just perfect for my riding style, sound and fun...
I'm on my 33rd bike and I've never owned a Suzuki. But as a fully qualified and experienced motopsychologist I warn you that you will forever regret selling that particular bike. It would cost you the hoped for £5300 just to tart up a new BMW. You owe the bike an apology for even contemplating her sale.
I've got a 2021 red and white one, and I was thinking of selling it, then I get on it, go for a ride, and come to my senses! It's that V-twin sound, and it's got more than enough power for the road.
Keep it mate, won't find a middle weight with a Vtwin in the future....seems they all going parallel twins. I'm in the process in purchasing a 2021 with all the goodies already on, Yoshi pipe, belly pan,gvi windscreen, bar end mirror, tail tidy and all services done! At 8000km it's a good deal for $7500nz
Currently on my 3rd SV650 used as a daily commuter. I’ve also got a Guzzi V7 and GS 1250 in the garage, each time I look around for a new bike I come back to the SV they are basically indestructible and brilliant value for money. In 70k between the 3 SV’s not had a single issue beyond the standard servicing unlike the other 2.
I recently picked up a very tidy 2018 SV650X and it's a peach. I'd been considering a Trident 660 but the SV was offering similar performance for 2/3rds the money. I also loved the idea of a v-twin in a compact naked. I've not been disappointed: 600 miles in four weeks (not bad for me at the tail end of winter) and it lives up to its reputation. The standard would be the better all-rounder but I've not found the clip-ons too torturous. Pure entertainment on two wheels.
And you have confirmed why he is right to sell it, he has done 1100 miles in 2 years! You’re over that in a month. It’s not fair on a good motor not to be used and just stored.
@@guyr7351 Good point. Either way works for me. Sell it so someone else can put miles on it, or keep it pristine. As long as it isn't rusting away we all win. In this situation? It's not a rare classic, so get it on the market and let a new rider have some fun.
Sold mine 3 months ago and got a multistrada V2S. Riding the multistrada makes me realize just how good the SV is. It’s roughly half the price but the multi honestly doesn’t give me more sensations. It’s just more comfortable.
They are great bikes, i did my test on one but found it a bit small because i'm a bigg'un. But I loved the engine so much I brought a V-strom 650, same engine.
I've got a Suzuki GSXS750 and a Kawasaki Z H2 SE and although the Z H2 is just pure awesome to ride, the Suzuki is a great bike and I wont be selling it anytime soon. Such a good engine and great to ride. Both bikes don't leave the garage unless there is salt off the road and its dry so i understand why you don't get to use both bikes a lot. Looking forward to getting them both on the road soon.🏍
I had an SV650 many years ago. Great bike! I know exactly what you mean about getting a bike dirty and wet. I collected a brand new CL500 just over a week ago, and despite my enthusiasm for this great fun bike I have only been out on it twice due to the weather. Come on spring! Ride safe mate.
Sold mine years ago but still have fond memories of the bike. They are so much fun to ride, you've got to work a wee bit harder compared to a litre bike and I enjoyed that. However, there is nothing worse than looking at a shed full of bikes and paying insurance, registration and service costs if you're not using it. Been there done that.
I completely understand your dilemma 🤔 I think the British weather doesn’t allow us to ride much ! It’s a great bike that won’t depreciate much more , but yes do what’s right for you .
It’s a hard thing letting a bike go. New owner is picking up my 2012 CBR250R that I have had for a few years now (my reintro bike into riding after a big break) It is probably the least powerful bike I’ve ever owned, but I’ve had a real blast with it and I think I’ll miss it. Of course the garage isn’t empty - my 2006 Super Blackbird XX has found a solid home with me.
Had a blast on mine. Took me over the Swiss alps, down to Como, over the Stelvio, round the 'ring, flat out on the autobahn and back home no worries. 1st big bike, scraped the hero blobs on it, a wonderful bike. I was ready to move on but I do knida miss it.
Chris of Bike World, did a drag race with the Suzuki SV650 to demonstrate the speed, performance against various cars. Look at the 2nd hand prices and realise what a great way to get into the middleweight sector. Whoever buys this bike is going to have an amazing fun time
I had 3 years on a K5 Bandit and have just changed to a Tracer 9 gt +. Will miss the wee Suzuki but it's gone to a new rider looking his first big bike. Can't keep 'em all.
I bought a new pointy back in 2006 in blue. Hated it and sold it 3 months later for a Hornet. I think this incaernation of the SV is my favourite, addressed all the issues with poor suspenion, brakes and that front cylinder cut out in the rain!
I have the same blue frame and bagster seat. I think the bagster seat is the single best upgrade you can do to the SV. Brilliant bikes and it was the V-twin which swayed me - great torque and sound.
I was really close to getting one as my first bike as I passed my test on an SV650 but have gone for a Honda CB500F - partly because of your great review of it. Literally went for my first ride today and loved it👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
i did some of my DAS training on the SV650, and i just can't put my finger on it but just didn't rate it too much, even though i didn't have much big bike experience, maybe it was because it was a bit tired after all those trainee's, and for the longest time was fixed on a cb500f too when i passed, for the same reasons as yourself, that every review praised it so much, but decided to go for the cb750 hornet instead, because for not too much more money it has so much more power and features, and i got a cracking deal, so didnt want to wonder what i may be missing in 6 months time lol. I'm delighed with my choice too, and while not a speedster, that OMG moment when i twist the throttle and it kicks me up the ass is priceless, but also sure that had i chosen the cb500f would be happy as well, as everyone is !!. @@Bob-ts2tuthat’s great. Sounds like you’re happy with your choice. I loved the power of the 650, but I’m really pleased to say the 500 made me feel just as impressed. I got a deal I couldn’t resist so went for it. Think I’d have loved most bikes to be honest! All the best 👌🏻
I also don’t like my SV650 to get dirty, but I ride it every day, in almost every condition. It’s my machine. And I clean it regularly. It’s not a spectacular bike. But it is very good, balanced and fun.
I feel your sentiment about not wanting to get the bike dirty, I've had my 2nd bike for 4 months now and every little speck of dirt or grime bothers me. I love the bike to death and it's my only form of transport so there's something emotional about my bike that makes me worried as if it's a person. I'm trying to do better with rationality but It holds such a special place in my heart.
I sold it only because I wanted something a bit more touring oriented. Then I got the Tracer 9. Think twice before you do it. :) Otherwise a great machine. Filmed a long term review too. Great content bro. Cheers.
They are great bikes, but I can't have two road bikes in the garage taking up space and costing insurance, road tax etc. So one has to go and the SV is the less comfortable bike. I'll miss it for a bit, but I tend not to get too attached to bikes. I hope!
They are a lovely bike. I think it's biggest success is what holds it back almost. It's a learner bike. Most of my learning for my DAS was on one of these before moving to MT07. I preferred the MT but that school hated them for their reliability whereas the school that had the SV loved them for the same reason. Lovely snarl on the SV when it starts getting to the higher revs (2:39) I just worried I'd get bored end ended up going for a CBR600F which just feels better imo.
2 bikes stand out for me, my old cbr600f which was a grin inducing beastie and my k7 sv650s with a full fairing and a noisy pipe on it, absolutely loved its looks and sounds, wish I didnt get rid of it I traded it in for a bandit which was ok but a bit souless.

Ohh man 😂 I got the same bike and I never ever ride it in the rain or dirt. I did 5000 km in 2 years and I treat her like a queen. I think you will regret selling it, it’s the last Vtwin and even in 20 years you will take her out the garage shining. One of those styles that never get old or out of fashion, the Tracer 9 is a great bike but even in 3 years nobody will still turn around to look at it. Keep it man even if you never ride it
@@Englishbikerdan that’s Italians for you. Never boring. Some say it’s a great beginner bike, others disagree vociferously. And then there is the shaft drive debate….
I know what you mean. I have a 2018 Iron 1200 that I still love but I really don't need it. I also have a 2022 Heritage that also serves as a cruiser. So that's my problem. I would hate to sell it to someone who wouldn't take care of it. It is an emotional thing. I also have a 2023 ZX4RR for my sport bike itch. A friend of mine said if I was ever going to sell my Sportster, he would like to buy it but he never takes care of anything. What is wrong with me?
Thought I would mention this though, that Suzuki have pushed the price of the SV650 massively in the last 2 to 3 years On Suzuki website its sitting at £7500 and the X model is closer to £8k! Just makes me feel like that have done this to make the 8s and 8r more appealing Don’t want to see the SV go from their lineup but I can imagine it will in the future

NGL , the next ownser is gonn have a hoot with it!! The MT07 is "better" only on paper in weight, it has really bad stock suspension and the I2 engine is TWICE the width of the V hence the total flickability really hurts if u wanna be playful . Ridden both , just writing based on my body feel and observations. Funny the best bike that gels with me the most on a test ride is a 2011 100000 KM bone stock GSR750, its like an old friend everytime i do a lite shakedown or ride it to refuel. (friends bike)

This is a problem for those that have literally too many motorcycles. I have too many right now. I'm going to thin the herd and have one or three. Then I'll not get another w/o selling one.
@@Englishbikerdan I dunno actually. The tracer 9 has terrible wind buffeting, and my mt07 was mega on the nc500. But the main thing is to enjoy your ride, whatever bike that may be 👍
@@Englishbikerdan genuine question- do you pay much more than that? Even as a new rider years back, I’ve always found the sv dirt cheap to run and insure. Do your own oil change- less than £50. Last bit of your comment describes most bikes owned in the UK! I suppose it’s a good thing that you’ve not used it- as your channel has grown and become more successful meaning having long term loaners etc would mean any bike you had you wouldn’t use- a great reason though!
@@kfkwAL7 Yeah, the SV really shocked me. £600 fully comp. My Tiger 850 was less than half that and that's a much more expensive bike. I sure could do my own servicing, but to get the dealer activated 7 year warranty, you have to keep it serviced at a Suzuki dealership. The biggest reason for selling is the long termers now starting to come through. First world problems for sure, but I need to save a bit of money too. Cheers for the comment. :)
£600 to insure the SV- that’s insane! I’m in a big city in Scotland but out of interest I just ran a quote for an imaginary 37 year old living in a small town in hants with no no claims and even then it was less than £280… with 5 years it came out less than £200… do you use the comparison sites?
After much deliberation, youtube watching and autotrader surfing i've decided to buy one new as a first bike. Some dealers are offering them new at prices well below used. Which colour though ?? Black and gold, Grey and red or Blue and gold....Help !

I think you will regret selling it, it’s the last Vtwin and even in 20 years you will take her out the garage shining. One of those styles that never get old or out of fashion, the Tracer 9 is a great bike but even in 3 years nobody will still turn around to look at it. Keep it man even if you never ride it
What would you rather have 4th Gen SV650 or a 2015 Street Triple 675?
Getting rid of my my Hornet, I'm too old, fat and stiff now. Looking to get myself my old man bike a nice Kawasaki W800.
I wouldn’t say mid-engined V-twins are rare on the road; I see quite a few Moto Guzzi V7’s about.
Would love to see you review a Moto Guzzi v7. By all accounts a marmite bike, I saw one in the flesh yesterday, looks awesome.
I've actually ridden one, it was. . . different.
@@Englishbikerdan that’s Italians for you. Never boring. Some say it’s a great beginner bike, others disagree vociferously.
And then there is the shaft drive debate….
😂 for some reason i feel the same about my sv650 i don't like to get it dirty, but it doesn't happen with my other bikes 🤣
The NSFW profile pics seem to be fans of the SV650, too.
Those darn pornbots!
what aftermarket seat have you got there?
It's a Bagster seat.
Thought I would mention this though, that Suzuki have pushed the price of the SV650 massively in the last 2 to 3 years
On Suzuki website its sitting at £7500 and the X model is closer to £8k!
Just makes me feel like that have done this to make the 8s and 8r more appealing
Don’t want to see the SV go from their lineup but I can imagine it will in the future
It's the same with many bikes at the moment, prices are not what they used to be. That's inflation for you I guess.
@@Englishbikerdan yeah I totally understand inflation but it’s just shocking how by
Just hope they don’t get rid of the V-twins, because of this “twin parallel faze”
Fortunately plenty of 2nd hand models
NGL , the next ownser is gonn have a hoot with it!!
The MT07 is "better" only on paper in weight, it has really bad stock suspension and the I2 engine is TWICE the width of the V hence the total flickability really hurts if u wanna be playful .
Ridden both , just writing based on my body feel and observations.
Funny the best bike that gels with me the most on a test ride is a 2011 100000 KM bone stock GSR750, its like an old friend everytime i do a lite shakedown or ride it to refuel. (friends bike)
Yeah the MT07 is lighter, and you can feel that but I think the SV feels more planted. Both have their place, and their fans.
@@Englishbikerdan Good luck on rebuilding the 07 engine, the case and cylinder walls on the 07 are TOGETHER ala R6/R1 ... i wouldnt want a high mile example or one with scored cylinders...
This is a problem for those that have literally too many motorcycles. I have too many right now. I'm going to thin the herd and have one or three. Then I'll not get another w/o selling one.
We always want more too! It's a problem! :D
One has to forgive those who are weak in their V-twin faith for they do not know any better. 🙏
😂
You sv it's a much better bike than the tracer 9. Hopefully you'll ride your one bike garage more often though...
It's not better at touring or comfort for longer rides, though, which is why I bought the Tracer. Now I just have to use it!
@@Englishbikerdan I dunno actually. The tracer 9 has terrible wind buffeting, and my mt07 was mega on the nc500. But the main thing is to enjoy your ride, whatever bike that may be 👍
Sad times :(
Just keep it. Doesn’t depreciate much, insurance less than £100 a year and there’s a reason it’s one of the longest bikes in current production.
Insurance less than £100 a year?! Haha, good one! Zero point keeping a bike I'm not riding that's costing me money to insure, tax and service.
Personally, blue and gold!
@@Englishbikerdan yeah it’s either the blue or black. I’m erring to the black at the moment
Between the cb650r, mt-07 and this, which was your favourite?
They're all great for different reasons. I'd say my CB650R as I did so much with that bike.
Can I buy it? How much would it cost to ship to California USA?
Are motorbikes like guitars? You always need just one more.
Love your reviews btw. I’m going to have to get my license sorted now 😀
Always one more! Good luck with the license. 👍
I sold my ‘99 and have regretted it since. Remember Suzuki will probably be discontinuing the SV. You might really regret selling one of the last year models.
I've never regretted selling any bike. There's so many other awesome bikes to choose from! :D
@@Englishbikerdan Indeed there are!
You did't upgrade the suspension?
Nope, I did bugger all with it sadly. Time got away from me.
Have done 1100 miles on my DL650 Vstrom in 3 weeks, that said, I hate it, fancy a swap Dan?
Haha, no thanks! 😬
@@Englishbikerdan I'll struggle on then!
Let’s have more vids please
Quick question. Have you used clipons on the screen? Are they worth it , do they work
Also is it worth spending £70+ or can you get away with one from Amazon for say £20
I regret selling my 17 SV650. Should have kept it to sit next to my BMW
No point keeping it if you don't use it. I guess this is the trouble with having a review channel, you never get to ride your own bikes.
It's a good problem to have but yeah, not being used is a waste.
in a couple of years you're going to say I wish I had never sold the SV.
Nah, lovely bike but I don't say that about any of my previous bikes.
do these have the same frame as the sfv? if so how to get both wheels off the floor to do swingarm bearings and steering bearings?
They are different frames looking at them.
Think i will be getting a new motorcycle then very soon if thats how suzuki wants to play stopping us from doing our own maintenance @@Englishbikerdan
must be hard to let go after those sleepless nights
So many bikes, so little sleep!
1100 miles in 2 years? More than many blokes do on their bikes in 5 years in the UK 😂
Haha, 1100 miles on this bike anyway. I probably do around 1000 miles per week in total across all the bikes. A good problem to have for sure!!
@@Englishbikerdan that is crazy mileage. I probably do 10,000 a year between 3 bikes. I guess my work commute isn't that long!
I own a harbinger cuz you never have too much missiles ;p
But warden was the sexiest and most badass one with aegis black and red paint.
Love it for its big gun. But rn i can’t throw away my f8c in meta.
Tho, as soon as you get a bigger target f8c kinda struggle where vanguard is kinda like an ares.
I'm still rocking my Avenger Titan since it came out. It can't take much damage though.
Lol didn’t see the video and this comment made me double check I hadn’t clicked on a SC video 😂 from SV to Vanguards
Oh boy i hate youtube playlist xD when you post and video switch to next xD happen multiple times. Dammit 😅
At least, we, men of culture, meet again 🤣🤣🤣
Currently suffering with sellers regret after foolishly selling my V Strom 650XT. Don't do it.....
I'll be fine. I've never regretted selling a bike. There's always more bikes to experience.
I am looking to buy one, if you are anywhere close to Manchester let me know :)
btw, does it have ABS ?
I'm in South East of England. Yes it's got ABS.
How much you want for it? I’m only Norfolk way, pop down your end no worries 🙂
£5300. 👍
What a bike! You will regret selling that forever bike I think.....
I don't think I will, I don't regret selling any previous bike. There's always more bikes to buy in the future. :)
Beautiful bike. I'll trade you my Suzuki sfv650 😂
That abomination! 😂
😂 it's been a great 1st bike but I need to Upgrade
So it's a review to sell the bike?
Where does it say review?
Maybe a mistake to sell it. I have never had one, but I've always rather wanted one.
I don't see it as a mistake, it's just part of the journey to buy and sell different bikes.
@@Englishbikerdan Fair point, Dan.
I’d say keep it for all the bikes I regret selling.
Looks good value for someone otherwise
You're quite silly Dan. "Only 1100 miles in two years" And? Those were great 1100 miles. Would 1200 make you keep it? Don't be silly! You will always regret it. Sell the Tracer! And remember, underneath all the dirt, the bike is clean. 🙂
Cheers!
I don't do regrets. I've enjoyed it a lot, but time to make space for something else.
@@Englishbikerdan Exciting! Good luck on selling the bike. Cheers!
Oh no, you just bought it!
Time flies
Come on then what you after?? What’s on your mind?🤔😂
To use my Tracer 9 more, but maybe something for offroad too.
Sorry Dan but the Tracer 9 would go before the Suzuki…just my opinion
Tracer is too new to sell. Otherwise I'd be tempted.
Dont sell it, future classic.
Taking up space, it's going.
1100 miles and you're selling already?
That's the reason, I don't ride it enough.
I don’t ride and even I know you’re going to regret selling the SV.
Honestly, I don't regret it.
Honestly best decision is to donate for free to me 👀
I wand sell my SV 650 (Health Problems) only 2000Km. Mod. 11/2023 but...Nobody is interested 😔
Sell it and you’ll regret it. Maybe not right now, but in hindsight you’ll kick yourself. This is coming from an “old fart” who has made a couple of re-buys in the last couple of years because I regretted letting a couple of them get away 🙁.
I just don't regret stuff like that. There's always something else on the horizon.
