When doing a safety course on track while taking my license, I rode an SV650. It's the only bike I've ridden that felt like it did everything i wanted without any force. Everything I thought of doing just happened like it was an extension of my body
Love the SV650...mini ducati monster with 90% less maintenance! A decent slip on and ecm tune along with minor suspension work and capped off with better brake pads and braided brake lines...beyond SWEET.
I've been building and riding bikes (mostly twins of around 650cc) for well over 50years and after a few years of loosing interest in riding bikes (mostly because I couldn't afford to buy a good old bike that was exiting and thrilling to ride at speed) I brought a well worn out 2002 SV 650 a couple of years ago. I was blown away by how good that old thing is! That bike with its full faring and race pipe is one of the most amazing old motorcyles I've ever ridden and it's turned me back into a fully blown bike mad fast rider who loves blasting through bumpy high speed twisties (very safely after watching most of your vids). I was recently chased by the police for a few miles before I pulled over for them. I was expecting to get a mile long ticket which would probably get me banned from riding for a long time (125mph through a long sweeping bend in a 40mph speed zone can get you in very serious trouble) but the cops told me how well I was riding and even told me what a great old bike my SV was. I think they must have enjoyed the chase and they probably had some respect for their elders since they were younger than some of my grand children. Anyway, I can safely say that the old Gen 1 Suzuki SV 650 with carbs (which might need cleaning after 10 or 20 years) is probably one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. It might have only cost £900 and only kicks out a max of about 70HP but in the real world of rough roads, bumpy bends, massive pot holes, mud and grit through the English country side I've never yet had much trouble keeping up with 200BHP bikes on a typical bendy road or even leaving them a long way behind. I've got nothing against the new bikes that comunicate with GPS things in orbit but if you can't have great fun riding a proper old school motorcycle like a Suzuki SV 650 then you probably don't know much about having fun on a motorcycle and enjoying a great ride. I still feel exited just by looking out of my window and seeing a good old V twin waiting to be fired up and ridden (even if it could do with a new clutch, a rear brake caliper and a decent back tire). Part of the fun is keeping the old thing going and getting it well set up for the next ride, and SV's just keep going even when they sound like a clattering bag of rusty nails at tick over yet still smoothly rev to 11000 rpm's before the missfiring starts to indicate it's ready to change up a gear!. I brought an old SV 650 because I couldn't afford a more decent bike but as it happens the SV is about as good as a bike can get for what little money you can pick a good one up for. OK, I seriously fancy a new(ish) Suzuki GSX800R but those things cost more money than I can even imagine. Excuse me while I dream about owning a bike that might be even better than my old SV.
I had an SV650X and absolutely loved it. 0-60 in 3.5sec, bullet proof engine, real workhorse of a bike. It's just a bike, does what it says on the tin. You can't go wrong with one of these.
I sat on the X but the clip ons were too much for my wrists. I bought the regular SV and im still putting a wide dirt bar on it. Could not see going miles and miles on the X. Best looking SV though!
Got this bike last year, my first. She's been damn good to me so far. I live in a very small, very mountainous little island and this has that perfect amount of power/ low-end torque where I feel like the bike will provide me all the fun I could possibly have without yeeting myself off a cliff in the twisties. Sure, maybe I could get something more high performance some day, but I'd be using like 50% of the tachometer anywhere other than the highway so...
I bought this exact bike in May. She's now got a Corbin saddle, full M4 carbon exhaust, 2 Wheel Dynoworks tune, Vagabond fender eliminator, ceramic paint protection (absolutely no lines or swirls), Koso Sprint mirrors. Next up LED all around with all black headlight necelle, Ohlins fork catridges and rear shock, roadsmart 4s, Renthals, call it a day. Real V Twin charisma, revs fast like a 4, nimble, faster than you'd think. Best all rounder.
I've got the 650 V-Strom, which has the same engine! These SV650s are available for amazing prices in the UK right now. They're a great do-it-all, fun bike on a budget. Thanks for the video Greg.
I am a returning rider after being on a Rebel 450 twenty years ago. This bike was 1st on my list, but I bought the GSX-8R instead. I didn’t want to upgrade to a bigger bike too soon.
I have a 2018 and its my first "big bike" (from the uk where we have to start on 50 and 125cc bikes) i love it, the only mild gripes I have is the brakes are not the highest quality and its turning circle is quite wide, not the best for u-turns/tight manouvres. But ive loved every ride on it!
I just bought the Ninja 650 🏍️😎. I’m so excited. Truly looking forward to meeting you one day. Please 🙏🏿 come to NYC in the near future. Appreciate your time and energy MotoJitsu💯
Rode for years without ABS but wouldn't do it now. I do know about trained response, but when you really ARE going to hit something (as opposed to being on a car park) you may find as I did... that you squeeze that front brake a bit harder still...Why gamble what will happen in a real situation? Get ABS if you can.
apparently you don't need any tech...thats why motojitsu sold his gsxr a month after purchase to by an s1000rr with all tech and then sold that for an xr...again with all tech
@@TomiAlbaRegia Yeah. I'm just pointing out that Americans think safety is a bad thing if it's implemented. ABS has been shown to help as much as 30% in preventing fatal collisions. If you add in that the test to get your licence in America is a joke compared to Europe as well and you soon get the picture of what motorcycle riding gets branded as not safe.
Suzuki is using this engines since 25 years, you can find them in the v-strom 650. Same engine, different very good motorcycle (more comfortable then this SV street version), easy to drive, easy to maintain.
Love the SV650 - shame i heard they're ending production. Great for weekends but not a tourer. Comment below about being as good as a Ducati Monster but with 80% less cost is bang on! Like many others, I passed my test on one of these.
got same SV 2018 year as my first bike. wouldn't say that it is that lightweight. maybe feels like. strange that this one does not have ABS. I thought all of them since 2016 have ABS. very weird. I like this bike. lane splitting, speed is more than enough for first 2 years. ABS helped several times already. So better take that with ABS as your first bike.
I went for a test ride on this and I found the seat really uncomfortable, I was sliding forwards the whole time and didn't feel in the seat as much as sliding off it.
Hey guys 👋, which bike do you prefer between the SV650 and Kawasaki Z650 and maybe you can come up with a couple of reasons for why you prefer one over the other, thank you and God bless everyone🙏
I used it for my driver license, and it was an awful bike. Slow, gearshift horrible, … The only thing was very good, were the slow exercises (8, slaloms, …). Terrible in the highway!
I don't like even the look of the bike, and what is this thing now with most bikes if not all, that the saddle and rear of the bike is so far above the rear wheel and another thing I hate is this thing of shoving all the exhausts into one tail pipe awful in my opinion, now the Kawasacki Vukcan and Elimaniter are decent good looking bikes,
Another old bike review back by popular demand
2023 is old? Call my suzuki bandit prehistoric

2002 SV650s was my first bike. Great starter, rode it for 3 yrs before selling. Learned a lot on it
My first and current bike is a 2002 SV650. I love it so much, very flickable and great torque! No abs or fuel injection just pure motorcycle

#1 best beginner and intermediate motorcycle you can buy
I have this bike and love the sound of the v-twin!
I have the 2018 model, which looks pretty much the same except for the color I believe. Very nice to see you riding it and hearing your opinion :)

The SV650 in Europe is sold with ABS.
It's the American market that gets the non-ABS version. Because "Murika!!" "fReEdOm" is most important.
@@Gaga4Parmaevery bike must be equipped with ABS in Europe since 2015 or 2014

Why many of us want to buy big, heavy bikes ? This class is the best. What do you think ?
Hopefully you can check Cyclone RE3 and do a review. Not sure if it's available in your area 😅
Love your vids!
Interesting, in the EU ABS on the bikes is mandatory for long enough that I managed to forgot that you can buy a street-approved bike without one...

can you make review on Honda CB650R Please, planning to buy it soon, curious what you think about it
What happened to your S1000XR Review Video ?
Can you do a video on a 2025 r3?
they haven't imported this model to our country, such sad, the 2 V-twin model that were imported are from Harley and Ducati

Aftermarket comfort seats are like the first and most important mod for Japanese bikes.
The seat from the SV 650 X is probably the cheapest alternative.
I've been riding it for 5 years and have no complaints.
is that reupload?

For $1000 more you can get the new GSX8R 800. Do you guys think it's a better bike ?
If you like the sporty look
On paper, yes. IMO the SV has more character though.
