It’s funny how the higher level content is actually pretty basic stuff and the amateur videos are tips and tricks that do very little. I subscribed. Great content for moving up for me from 3.5. Thank you!

San Diego to Florida. I see that the opportunities are better than SD Congrats on your move to improve your career and getting solid partners/opponents. I'm a 4th generation San Diegian so moving would be very diffiicult for me at this poing in my life.(retired)

Cliff nice instructional video, thanks! I hear about the differing levels in pickleball (3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 50 etc..) how do I determine my level of play ?

Now let me explain the actual reason you split-step. Because it’s not so you can go in either direction. Cliff doesn’t split-step and can usually cover either direction - he just stops straight on to the court but he doesn’t split-step. The reason you split-step is to load your legs so they are “springing up” at the same time the opponent contacts the ball making you QUICKER to move in either direction. It’s the same reason sprinters don’t start from a standing position. They load their legs by crouching making them faster off the mark.

Did you mean move closer to the sideline at around 4:18? You said baseline and I am wondering if I am missing something.

Cliff is the most flat-footed UA-camr I’ve ever seen. He’s never split-stepped. 😂 I’m sure Cliff has never played tennis.

I've never heard it called "zoning". I've only heard it called "shading".
