Brain fog was my biggest symptom. My doctor laughed at me when I suggested it was due to gluten. 2 years later and Im diagnosed celiac and removing it from my diet has been a total game changer.

I hope you left that doctor. I worked with a Dr that didn't believe celiac disease was real! Lots of people don't know this but your Drs personal opinions WILL effect your medical treatments. I see this all the time as a Medical Assistant.

How do you get a diagnosis of gluten intolerance? I went to an allergist and he said there's no test. I'm sure he's wrong and there is a test.

    • @Slking507
      @Slking507 2 роки тому +4

@@Orangestardust there are ABSOLUTELY tests for gluten allergies. Currently there aren't a tests for gluten sensitivity however. This much is true. But what is your body saying to you? Have you tried a diet change to see if you got results. In the end what your doctor says obly matters if you do what they say. What they say is not always right for you though. People react to differwnt diets, differently. If I eat small portions of red meat I do ok. Large portions I get severely bloated. My dad it doesn't effect him at all. If I eat large portions of fish, I have no issues. My dad, gets nauseous. (Yes he does love seafood so it is unfortunate.)

The best way to determine if you are Gluten Intolerant is to strictly avoid it for a few weeks and then eat some. I knew immediately after getting cross contaminated with some French fries. Thirty years on prescription antacids, have been off them now for three years now, had all the symptoms, now completely gone.

Sounds familiar. I cut out gluten for several weeks, saw all my symptoms disappear, then ate some by accident... Nausea within minutes, followed by gradually increasing gut problems, brain fog and worst of all, waking up the next morning unable to breathe, with agonizing chest pain, because bizarrely, my rib joints feel like they're stuck in concrete and won't move. Lasts 3-5 days if I eat just the slightest trace of gluten, so I'm very, very careful what I eat!

Fatigue was the only symptom I "felt", but over several years I was being diagnosed with a number of auto-immune conditions & the loss of hair from the outer third of my eyebrows. I also had several teeth develop that did not have the dentine around them. The eyebrows and teeth can be a sign of coeliac disease. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease about 4 years ago and the auto-immune conditions have resolved. Not everyone has the same symptoms or signs. It takes an average of 10-15 years to be properly diagnosed!

I have wondered for years if I was gluten intolerant. It is hard here to get doctors to test you. (The down sides of socialized medicine.) Even as a kid, I would get an intense stomach ache if I ate bread on an empty stomach. I have never 100% avoided gluten but have avoided bread, pasta etc. Well, I KNOW now. I just tried going Keto. Everyone said it was Keto flu and would go away. BUT, most Keto breads have substantial amounts of wheat gluten...and it causes me RELENTLESS and UNBEARABLE diarrhea. Stopped eating ALL gluten for one week and felt marvelous.

I was diagnosed with Celiacs in 2006 but for years I suffered from everything you mentioned along with eczema and severe asthma. Everything went away after going gluten free. I haven’t had an asthma attack in 15 years but still carry a rescue inhaler (old habits) I would have sometimes up to 7 asthma attacks a day. Even the scarring from the eczema is gone. I have been a gluten free vegan for the last 10 years and would recommend that diet to anyone with food allergies.

Hi, you’re the only person I’ve ever read that had asthma from eating gluten. That how it affects me too. In fact i was diagnosed with COPD,when i believe it’s a wheat or grass allergy instead. Earlier this year i was drinking a smoothie with a gluten free greens powder , i got so sick , coughing, wheezing, using my rescue inhaler multiple times a day, waking up choking..it was bad! The greens powder had wheat grass and barley grass, which are considered non- gluten. That’s the only thing i was eating that was different than my normal diet. When i stopped drinking it, it took about six weeks, but now I’m ok . I think there is more to the gluten mystery than we understand.

@@andreastieff The irony was that before diagnoses I thought eating 12 grain this or 15 grain that was the healthy thing to do. I even worked for a sour dough bread company. I was on Advair and a rescue inhaler. I always blamed the cat for my allergies and asthma and even had to re-home her, but I never got better. All I was doing was taking Benadryl, advair and my rescue inhaler. All those chemicals it was no wonder I never felt good. The digestive issues were horrible and I became a bit of a recluse. I never knew when I was going to have an episode of sorts so I just opted to stay home. Your story sounds similar to mine. A long time ago, in my 20’s, i had IBS but i wonder if it was gluten related. I didn’t get really sick until my 50’s. All the medicine made me toxic and I saw a natural path as a last resort. She changed my life. Most MDs look at me sideways when i tell them I’m gluten-free because I’ve never been tested for celiac and I’m not going to eat gluten just so i can get tested, no thank you! My symptoms are not classic and can’t be scientifically tested so ..who knows! I’m an enigma, which is why i was so excited to see someone else say that wheat affected their lungs as opposed to the stomach.
I’ve been gluten bombed several times through the years and everything starts all over again with the uncontrollable cough, wheezing and incontinence, so i totally stay home when that’s going on. Usually lasts 6-8 weeks until my body clears the mucus.

wheat induced auto-immune response impairs thyroid/endocrine function(s) greatly diminishing iron delivery (although iron levels read at normal levels). resulting in anemia. iron may be present in the blood/diet but body isn't metabolizing properly. it can be quite profound and pronounced, with great prostration. thyroid needs attention and to heal, avoid stress. levothyroxine helped me to a degree initially, but i have discovered that avoiding over-exertion and plenty of good sleep is a wonderful remedy in the long run, because healing takes place with time.

Can you do a video about B12 in plants? I have been reading about this topic and I am still new to it, some of the studies that I have read showed that there is no B12 in plants while other said it contains B12 from contamination of bacteria from the ground or from handling and storage. I want to be a vegan but I am scared of missing out some vitamins and minerals.

My scalp gets so fucky when I eat gluten like dandruff all over the place. Gonna try to eat less gluten this week see if there’s an improvement

12345 that's me. So I wanted to test for celiac disease but my doctor says I have to eat gluten everyday for 2 months before the procedure. Im on day 4 and feel like Im dying. After eating a bagel I will feel extreme exhaustion for 2 days. Its not worth it. Im going to cancel the procedure and not eat gluten. Either way I won't be eating it. Id like to save myself from two months of torture.

Just stop eating any food containing gluten and you will be fine as if nothing happened at all

Don't listen to doctors when they tell you "eat gluten for 2 months" just to prove to them that you are gluten intolerant. Doctors do not give a shit about your health, it's the unhealthy people that helps them make their money. You are just going to ruin your body for 2 months. Thank god you are intelligent and you are not going through with it

Many people have gluten sensitivity but not celiac disease. 2 books I recommend are ...No grain no pain by. Dr. Osborne and Wheat belly by Dr. Davis.

A doctor making you eat gluten every day for 2 months sounds more like they're making you out to be a lab rat than to really test if you have celiac. My doctor took some blood work from me and tested it the day I visited and I got results 2 days later.

I burp all night. All night! 12 years every night. I’ve gone through every test. My brother is a famous doctor. “ you eat to fast” you drink carbonated drinks, you suck air.
12 years ! I self diagnosed that I am gluten intolerant and or have food allergies. I started doing FODMAP. It’s better still some burping.
I eliminated shredded wheat but went to oat meal. Still trying it out.
No doctor has helped they all are guessing.
    A long journey!
