A CLASSIC Carp Rig Made EASY (and improved)! | Pole Position Tungsta Hook Shot

  • The Weight On The Hook Rig is a classic, but it's one that often gets overlooked. Why? Because there's never really been components which have been purpose-made for the rig. Well, that is until now! Made by Pole Position and produced from a soft, camouflaged outer layer which covers a hard tungsten ball, it guarantees a small volume and high weight. The ready-made ‘Tungsta Hook Shot’ sits very close to the hook and sticks to the thread of the hook so it stays in the position of your choice, but at the same time the shot will move as a carp hooks itself.

    Just keep it simple lads ffs - use whatever you’re confident in.
    Sharp hook - Lead arrangement & size to suit the angling situation & decent anti tangle properties & you’ll catch just as many fish as you would if you where to use the latest fad.

    Had my first 30 on this nearly 20 years ago. Epic rig, but i feel like you guys only ever do sales pitches. I'd like to see more detail on the stuff you actually use.

      Had my first 30 on this too, must be nearly 30 years ago for me. It was Frank Warwick that got me on it, it just works. Thank you Frank BTW, a true carp fishing legend 🙏 👍Split shot and use thin mono or braid.

    I think modern day carp angling rigs are getting over complicated to say the least! Hooks make the difference in my opinion ...LongShank blowback rig Top Lip 👌

      @nuffinbutfishing 5 місяців тому +2

      @garystevens3184 I've never used it before, but it is a rig with history. My comment was based on the fact this sort of video normally gets hate for the sake of hate because it's not a Ronnie or a simple hair rig 👌🏻

    Wouldn't the shot on the hook mess with hooking potential? 🤔

    • @tuxedot7949
      @tuxedot7949 5 місяців тому +2

      I was thinking about this , it’s the flesh of the fish that forces the shot around the bend of the hook , after the point goes in , I think it would be better left bare to penetrate cleanly especially the way you see the underwater videos of them getting away with it so much , clutter on the hook , probably a better way to present a bait so close to the bottom and I don’t mean a horrible Ronnie

    Wouldn't using a wafter be too... Wafty for thus set up? I thought you would need the weight of a normal bottom bait boilie for the shot on hook to be affective. Or wouldn't it matter being underwater and floaty. Know what i mean 🤔😂

    Just tie on some line and add a shot. Despite carping since 84 ive never heard of it till i watched the korda vid.
    Tried it yesterday on the yorkshire ouse whilst barbelling on small boillie and i had 3 barbel. Beleive it or not had 2 doubles too! With a bottom bait. And id only had 5 small barbel in 11 years fishing the area. I kid ye not.

    Water is about 830 times more dense than air. Therefore this is an utter nonsense 🙄

      and tungsten is roughly 20 times denser than water. What's your point?

    • @kennetking1
      @kennetking1 5 місяців тому

      @@DjDolHaus86 my point is as stated above. It doesn’t take much applied thought to understand how that affects behaviour of a rig under water.

    • @DjDolHaus86
      @DjDolHaus86 5 місяців тому +4

      @@kennetking1 the application of weight in specific areas to manipulate the centre of gravity and affect orientation during suspension is not really much to do with density beyond the obvious. What is your point?

    • @kennetking1
      @kennetking1 5 місяців тому

      @@DjDolHaus86 it……will…….react…….differently……in…….water…….due……..to……..the…….aforementioned…..density…….variable……. Compre? 👍

    • @DjDolHaus86
      @DjDolHaus86 5 місяців тому +6

      @@kennetking1 the variables are entirely consistent with the concept. A pop up or wafter (less dense than water) will exert an upwards force, the tungsten weight (more dense than water) will exert a downwards force. By manipulating the fulcrum points of either force you can affect how the hook and bait will naturally orient around its centre of gravity.
      If we were talking about suspending the rig in molten uranium then I'd understand where your concerns about density were coming from as the tungsten weight would now float due to being less dense than the fluid but otherwise I really don't understand what you're on about and I fear you don't either.
